Starting to drive.
Preventing the automatic parking brake
release
The vehicle could begin rolling unintentionally,
depending on the hill or if towing a trailer.
.,. To prevent the parking brake from releasing au­
tomatically, pull and hold
the(®) switch and
press the accelerator pedal. The parking brake
remains set and prevents the vehicle from roll­
ing backward.
.,. You can release the C®l switch again once you
are sure that you are giving enough driving
force to the wheels by pressing the accelerator pedal.
Emergency braking function
You can use the emergency braking function in an
emergency situation, or if the standard brake op­
eration malfunctions or is disabled.
.,. Pull and hold the®) switch.
.,. As soon as you release the (®) switch or acceler-
ate, the braking stops.
Pulling and holding the
C®) switch while driving
the vehicle activates the emergency braking func­
tion. The vehicle is braked at all four wheels by
activating the hydraulic brake system. The brak­ ing effect is similar to heavy
braking¢&_ .
To reduce the risk of activating the emergency
braking by mistake, a warning tone (buzzer)
sounds when
the®> switch is pulled. Emergency
braking stops as soon as
the®) switch is released
or the accelerator pedal is pressed.
Parking
.,. Press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle.
Driving
.,. Pull the®> switch to set the parking brake .
.,. Place the selector lever in the P position.

.,. Turn the steering wheel when parking on in­
clines so that the wheels will roll into the curb
if the vehicle starts moving.
A WARNING
-
- Do not press the accelerator pedal inadver­
tently if a gear is selected when the vehicle
is stationary and the engine is running. Oth­
erwise, the vehicle will start to move imme­
diately and this could result in an accident.
- Emergency braking should only be used in
an emergency, when the normal brake pedal
has failed or the brake pedal is obstructed.
During emergency braking, your vehicle will
brake similar to heavy braking. ESC and the
associated components (ABS, ASR, EDL)
cannot overcome the laws of physics . In cor­
ners and when road or weather conditions
are bad, a full brake application can cause
the vehicle to skid or the rear end to swerve,
which
increases the risk of an accident.
- If the power supply fails , you cannot set the
parking brake if it is released . In this case,
park the vehicle on level ground and secure
it by placing the selector lever in the P posi­
tion. See an authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance.
- Always take the vehicle key with you when
leaving your vehicle, even for a short period
of time. This applies particularly when chil­
dren remain in the vehicle. Otherwise chil­
dren could start the engine, release the
parking brake or operate electrical equip­
ment such as power windows, which in­
creases the risk of an accident .
- No one should remain in the vehicle when it
is locked - especially children . Locked doors
make it more difficult for emergency work­
ers to get into the vehicle, which puts lives
at risk.
(D Tips
When stopping at a traffic signal or stopping
in city traffic, you can set the parking brake
manually . The vehicle does not have to be

Launch control program
A ppl ies to: ve hicles with S tro nic

The launch control program provides the best
possible acceleration when starting from a stop.
Requirement: the engine must be at operating
temperature and the steering wheel must not be
turned.

way down w ith your right foot until the engine
reaches and stays at a high RPM level.

- Always adapt your driv ing to the traffic flow.
- Only use the Launch control program when
road and traffic conditions allow it and oth­
er drivers will not be endangered or both­
ered by your driving and the vehicle's accel­
eration.
- Please note that the drive whee ls can sp in
and the vehicle can break away when sport
mode is switched on, especially when the
road is s lippery.
Driving
-Once the vehicle has started moving, press

I ~ OFFI button briefly to turn the sport

- Th e transmission temperature may increase
significantly after using the launch control
program. If that happens, the program may
not be available for a few minutes. It will be
available again after a cool-down period.
- When accelerating using the launch control
program, all vehicle parts are subject to
heavy loads . This can lead to increased
wear .
Transmission malfunction
[i'J Transmission: Pres s brake pedal and select
gear again .
Press the brake pedal and select the desired se­
lector lever position again . You can then continue
driv ing .
[O] Transmission overheating: Please drive con­
servatively.
The transmission temperature has increased sig­
nificantly due to the sporty d riving manner. Drive
in a less sporty manner until the temperature re­
turns to the normal range and the indicator light
switches of .
[O] Transmission malfunction: You can continue
driving
There is a system malfunction in the transmis­
sion. You may continue driving. Drive to an au­
thori zed Audi dealer or authori zed Audi Service
Facility soon to have the malfunction corrected .
[O] Transmission malfunction: You can continue
driving with limited functionality
T here is a system malfunction in the transmis­
sion . The transmission is switching to emergency
mode. This mode only shifts into certain gears or
will no longer shift at a ll. The engine may sta ll.
Drive to an au thorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility immediately to have the malfunction corrected .

Audi active Lane assist
Description
Appl ie s to: ve hicles w ith Audi active lane assis t
Active lane assist det ects lane mark er lines with­
in the limits of the system using a came ra in the
windshie ld. If you are approaching a detected
lane marker line and it appears likely that you
w ill leave the lane , the system will warn you w ith
correct ive steer ing . You can override t his steer ing
at any t ime . If yo u pass over a line, t he s teer ing
wheel will v ib rate l igh tly. In o rder for this wa rn ­
ing v ib ra tion to occur, i t mus t first be sw itche d
on in the Info tainmen t sys tem . Act ive lane assist
is ready for operation when the lane marke r line
is detected on at least one side of the vehicle.
T he system is designed fo r driving on express ­
ways and highways and therefore only activates
at speeds above approximate ly 40 mph (65 km/
h).

If yo u ac tiva te a turn signa l when active lane as ­
sist is ready and it classifies a lane change as crit ­
ical because of ve hicles traveling a longside you or
approaching you, there will be noticeab le correc-

This wi ll attempt to keep your ve hicle in the lane.

The system will not warn you befo re cross ing a
l ane mar ke r li ne if you have act ivated the t urn
s ignal. In this case, it assumes that you are
c h anging lanes intentionally.

The corrective steering is targeted based on the
driv ing situation . In add ition to the lane ma rke r
li nes , the system can a lso take into account other
objects such as guard rails . If they are detected in
close prox imity to the ve hicle, act ive lane ass ist
helps p reve nt the vehicle from dr iv ing too close
to t hem. The re is a lso pass ing ass ista nce. The
system does no t provide any co rrec tive steering if
i t detects that you are pass ing anot her vehicle.
A WARNING
- The system warns the drive r that the vehicle
is leaving the lane using cor rect ive steering.
The d rive r is always respons ible fo r keeping
the vehicle within the lane.
- The system can help you keep the vehicle in
the lane, b ut it does not d rive by itse lf. Al­
ways keep your ha nds on the steering
wheel.
- Cor rective steering may not occur in certain
situations, such as d uring heavy braking .
- There may be cases where t he camera does
not recognize all la n e mar ker lines. Correc­
tive steering can only take place on the s ide
of the vehicle where lane ma rker lines are
detec ted .
- Othe r road str uctures or objects could poss i­
b ly be identified u nintent ionally as lane
ma rker lines. As a res ult, co rr ec tive stee rin g
m ay be u nexpec ted o r m ay n ot occur .
- The camera view ca n be res tricted, fo r ex­
a mp le by ve hicles dr iving ahea d or by r ain,
snow, he avy spray or lig ht shin ing into t he
camera. This can resul t in a ctive lane ass ist
not detecting the lane ma rke r lines o r de­
tect ing them inco rrectly.

- The lane is too narrow or too wide .
- The curve is too narrow.
- The driver's hands are not on the steer ing

depending on the situation. The distribution of
power varies from balanced (comfort) to sporty
(dynamic) depending on the selected mode. The
goal is a high leve l of agility and ab ility to accel­
erate on curves. The ve hicle is very respons ive to
steer ing .
Co rne ring light *
The cornering light adapts the high beams to the
direction of the curve depending on the speed.
The pivot ing action and the light ing also adapt to
the mode.
Adapti ve c ruise control *
The behavior when acce lerating can be adjusted
from comfortable to sporty, depending on the
drive select mode. Adaptive cruise control a lso
responds to the driving behavior of the veh icle
ahead in a more conservative or sporty manner.
Engine sound *
The engine sound adapts to the current mode
and can be subtle to sporty .

Applies to: vehicles with adaptive air suspension
-Make sure there is enough clearance above
and below t he ve hicle when parking. The
height of the vehicle (ground clearance) can
change once it is parked due to temperature
fl uctuations, changes to t he load condit ions

- When transporting the veh icle on a car car­
r ier, tra in, sh ip or by other means, only t ie
the ve hicle dow n at t he ru nning surface of
the tires, w hich is the outer circ umfe rence.
Securing t he vehi cle at t he axle compo ­
nents, suspension struts or towing eyes is
not permitted because the pressu re in t he
a ir s uspension struts can change dur ing

transport . The vehicle may not be secured
sufficiently if this happens.

- In some models, the max imum ve hicle
speed can on ly be reached in t he auto and
dynamic modes.

Parking next to obstacles
If there is an obstacle (such as a wall) next to the
parking space, posit ion the vehicle so there is
more space on that side. Position the long side of
the blue surface so that there is sufficient space
from the obstacle. The surface must not be
touching . You will a lso need to sta rt turning the
steering wheel earlier . The blue
curve ¢ fig. 124
must not touch the obstacle, but rather there
shou ld be enough distance .
