Child safety lock
Mechanical child safety lock in the rear
doors
The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside.

The child safety lock is visible only when the
door is open.

• To switch on the child safety lock, turn the
key in the direction of the arrow .
• To switch
off the child safety lock, turn the
key in the opposite direction to the arrow.
When the child safety locks are activated, the
inside door handles do not work and the doors
can only be opened from the outside .
Power child safety lock for the rear
doors
Applies to vehicles: with power c hild safety lock in the

The power child safety lock t prevents the
rear doors from being opened from the in­

The following features are switched off:
- The interior door handles in the rear doors,
- The power windows in the rear doors,

- The buttons for the power sun shades* in
the side windows,
- The front passenger power seat adjust­
ment* button (by pressing the right button
Ii]).
In order to activate the ch ild safety lock on
the left and the right side, press the two safe­
ty buttons

Child safety lock
When the safety button® c:> fig. 32 is press­
ed, the LED in the button lights up. The fol­
lowing features are switched off:
- The power windows in the rear doors,
- The buttons for the power sun shades * in
the side windows,
- The buttons for the power sun shade* in the
rear window,
- Front passenger power seat adjustment*
button.
&_ WARNING
- When you leave your veh icle - even if on­
ly brief ly - always take the ignition key
with you. This applies particularly when children remain in the veh icle. Otherwise
the chi ldren could start the engine or op­
erate electrical equipment (e.g. power
w indows). The power windows are func­
tional until the driver's door or passeng­
er's door has been opened .
- Be careful when closing the windows.
C heck to see that no one is in the way, or
serious injury could result!
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied since the
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency.
(D Tips
- The driver can lower or raise the power
sun shades* in the s ide windows by using
switches © and @.
- After the ignition has been switched
off,
the windows can sti ll be opened or
closed for about 10 minutes. The power
w indows are not switched off until the
dr iver's door or passenger's door has
been opened .
What to do after a malfunction
The one-touch open and close function must
be reactivated if the battery has been discon­
nected .
.,. Pull and hold the power window switch until
the window is fully closed .
.,. Release the sw itch and then pull it again for
at least one second.
Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the lug­
gage compartment from unauthorized ac­
cess .

All-weathe r lights*
In veh icles with all -wea ther lights, the front
li ghts are adj usted automat ically so that you
are less like ly to see glare from your own
headlights , for example when driving on a wet
road.
Automatic dynamic headlight range
control*
Your vehicle is equipp ed with a headlight
range control system so that the head lights
do no t blind oncoming traff ic if the vehicle
load cha nges . The headlight range a lso ad­
justs automa tically when braking and acceler­
at ing .
Light funct ions
The following light funct ions are availab le de­
pending on veh icle equipmen t and o nly func­
t ion when the lig ht switch is i n the AUTO posi ­
t io n. You can deactivate these functions in the
MM I und er Audi adaptive light <=>page
48 .
Static cornering light * (vehicles with LED
headlights or adaptive light) -the corner ing
light sw itches on automat ical ly when the
stee ring wheel is turned at a ce rtain angle at
speeds up to approxima tely 4 4 mph ( 70 km/
h) and when the turn signal is act ivate d at
speeds up to approximately 25 m ph ( 40 km/
h) . The area to the side of the vehicle is illumi­
nated bette r when turn ing.
Dynamic curve light * (vehicles with adap tive
li gh t) - the curve light on ly functions at
speeds betwee n approximate ly 6 mph (10
km/h) and 68 mph (110 km/h) and adapts it-
self to the curves in the road . .,.

Highway light function* (vehicles with LED
headlights) - this function adapts the lighting
for highway driving based on vehicle speed.
.&_ WARNING
-Automatic headlights are only intended
to assist the driver. They do not relieve
the driver of his responsibility to check
the headlights and to turn them on man­ ually according to the current light and
visibility conditions. For example, fog
cannot be detected by the light sensors.
So always switch on the headlights
~D
under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark.
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by other motorists. Always turn on
the headlights so that you can see ahead and so that others can see your car from
the back.
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the lighting systems described.
(D Note
The rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traffic regulation, as
the lights are bright for following traffic.
(D Tips
- The light sensor* for automatic dynamic
headlight range control* is located in the
rear view mirror mount. You should
therefore not apply any stickers to the
windshield in this area in order to pre­
vent malfunctions or failures.
- In the event of a light sensor malfunc­
tion, the driver is notified in the instru­
ment cluster display~
page 22.
- You will hear a warning tone if you open
the driver door when the exterior lights
are switched on.
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail
lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clear shortly after Clear vision 4

switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting.
Emergency flasher
Th e emergency flasher makes other motorists
oware that you or your vehicle are in on emer­
gency situation.

When the emergency flasher is on, all four
turn signals blink at the same time. The turn
signal indicator lights

cluster, as well as the light in the emergency
flasher switch~ blink likewise. The emergen­
cy flasher also works when the ignition is
turned
off.
The emergency flashers will turn on automati­
cally if you are in an accident where the airbag
has deployed.
@ Tips
You should turn on the emergency flashers
when:
-you are the last vehicle standing in a traf­
fic jam so that any other vehicles coming
can see you, or when
- your vehicle has broken down or you are
in an emergency situation, or when
-your vehicle is being towed by a tow truck or if you are towing another vehicle behind you.

Adjusting the exterior lighting
The settings are adjusted in the MMI.
• Se lect : I CAR ! function button > Car systems
control button > Vehicle settings > Exterior
lighting .
Automatic headlights
You can adjust the following settings in the
Automatic headlights menu:
Headlights activation time -You can adjust if
the head lights switch on
Early, Med. or Late
according to the sensitivity of the light sensor .
Audi adaptive light * -You ca n sw itch adaptive
l ight
On and Off.
Automatic high beams*
You can switch the high beam ass ist on and
off .
Daytime running lights
USA models :
You can switch the dayt ime run­
ning lights
on and off .
Canada models:
The function cannot be
turned off .
It is activated a utomat ica lly each
time the ign ition is switched on. This menu
item is shown "greyed out".
Coming home, Leaving home
The coming home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when yo u switch the
ignition off and open the driver's door. To turn
the function on, select
Lights when leaving
car > On .
The leaving home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when you un lock the
ve hicle. To turn the funct ion on, select
Lights
when unlocking car > On .
The coming home and leaving home functions
only operate when it is dark and the light
switch is in the
AUTO position.
Turn signal and high beam lever
The lever on the left side of the steering col­
umn is used to operate the turn signals and
the high beam as well as the headlight flash­
er.

The turn signa l and high beam lever has the

ic ing . Th is sett ing can be activated by pr essing
and hold ing the b utton on the int erio r r ear­
view m irror for mo re tha n 1 8 seconds. The
L E D next to the button blinks th ree times.
If
yo u have accidentally se lec ted this service
funct io n, the origi nal sensitivity will be a uto­
matically restored the next t ime yo u sw itch
the ignit ion on.

& WARNING
H igh beam assist is only intended to assist
the driver. The driver is still responsible for controlling the headlights and sw itching
th e high beams on and off manually de­
pending on traffic, l ighting and visibility
condi tions. Failure to intervene manually
may lead to ris k of accident . It may be nec­
essary to operate the high beams man ua l­
ly in the following situat ions, e.g .:
- For adverse weather conditions such as
fog, heavy rain, blowing snow or spraying
water .
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be
partia lly obsc ured such as expressways .
-If there are individuals on the road with
no light ing or poor lighting, such as cy ­
cl ists .
- In tight c urves and on steep s lopes .
- In poorly lit areas.
- With strong reflectors su ch as signs.
- If the area of the windshie ld nea r th e
sensor is fogged over, dirty, icy or cov­
ered w ith a st icker.
(D Tips
- The high beam ass ist is active above a
speed of approx . 25 mph (40 km/h).
- If afte r activation, your speed falls below
approx . 15 mp h (24 km/h), the high
beams w ill automatically be switched
off.

meant to rem ind you to sw itch on the
headlights whe n outs ide ligh t conditions

When lowering or raising the sunshade,
make sure there is noth ing in its way and
that it has a free path to travel. Th is could
cause personal injury.

- Pressing the button~ severa l times
consecutive ly can trigger the overload
protection. The sun shade can only be ex­
tended/retracted again after a brief wait­ ing period.
- The rear window sun shade only func­ tions when the vehicle interio r is warmer
than 14°F (-10°().
· Vanity mirror in the rear
Applies to vehicles: with vanity mirrors in the rear

(D -Rain sensor mode. The w indshie ld w ipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds ap­
proximately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining.
The higher the rain sensor sensitivity is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the w ind ­
shield wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shie ld. You can deact ivate rain sensor mode in
the MMI, which w ill then activate intermittent
mode. Select:

> Off . In intermittent mode, you can
adjust the interval time using the switch @.

® -Clean the windshield . The wipers wipe
one time after several seconds of driving to remove water drop lets. You can switch this

off by moving the lever to position ®
within 10 seconds after the afterw ipe . The af­
terw ipe f unction is react ivated the next time
you switch the ig nition on.
Cleaning the headlights . The headlight wash­
er system* only functions when the headlights
are on . If you move the lever to position ®,

the headlights and the night vision system
camera* are washed in intervals .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only designed to assist
and support the driver.
It remains entire­
ly the driver's responsibility to monitor
outs ide weather cond itions and to man­
ually activate the wipers as soon as rain
or drizzle reduces visibility through the
windshie ld.
- The windsh ield must not be treated w ith
wate r-repellent mate rials. They can in­
crease glare unde r poo r vis ibility condi­
tions such a s wetness, d arkness, or w hen
the sun is low on the hori zon. In addi ­
tion, they can cause the w indshield wip­
ers to chatter.
- Properly f unctioning windshield wiper
blades are req uired for a clear v iew and
safe driving

- In the case of frost, check whether the
windshield wiper blades are frozen to
the windshield. Switching on the wind­
shield wipers can damage the wiper
blades!
- Prior to us ing a car wash, the w indshield
w iper system must be sw itched off ( lever
in posit ion @). T his he lps to prevent un­
intentional switching on and damage to
the windsh ield wiper system.
- Do not use the wipers to clear a frosted
w indow. Us ing the wipers as a conve n­
ient ice scrape r will destroy the wiper
blades.
(D Tips
- The windshield wipers are sw itched off
when the ign it ion is off . Activate the
w indshield wipe rs after the ignition is
switched back o n by movi ng the w ind­
shield wiper lever to any positi on.
- Worn or d irty wi ndshield wipe r blades
