Parking and maneuvering
the vehicle is too far. Make sure the connec-
tion is sufficient, and when in doubt, resume
parking the vehicle yourself.
— Blocking notifications, tones, and vibrations
increase the risk of an accident. The myAudi
app can only warn you if dangers are detect-
ed if you make sure that your mobile device
allows all notifications, tones, and vibra-
tions for the myAudi app.
@) Note
— Do not use remote controlled parking when
transporting cargo that projects outside of
the vehicle or when snow chains are mount-
ed.
— Remote controlled parking may guide the
vehicle either away from curbs or onto them
if other vehicles are parked on the curb.
Make sure that your vehicle's tires and rims
are not damaged. Resume control of the ve-
hicle in time or stop the parking process if
needed to prevent damage.
— In parking spaces without curbs, maintain a
distance of at least 19 inches (50 cm) from
walls and buildings in order to reduce the
risk of vehicle damage.
@) Tips
— Follow the legal regulations in the country
where you are operating the vehicle when
using remote controlled parking. Remote
controlled parking may be prohibited in
some countries. The system may be unavail-
able in countries where it has been deacti-
vated in order to comply with legal regula-
tions. Data will not be transmitted to Audi.
The driver is always responsible for adhering
to the regulations applicable in the country
where the vehicle is being operated.
— Any individual that uses the mobile device
for remote controlled parking is considered
the driver and is participating in traffic. The
driver is always responsible for adhering to
the regulations for using remote controlled

Device compatibility
The mobile device will be checked at the start of
a parking procedure. If an incompatibility is de-
tected, it will be displayed in the myAudi app.
Audi does not recommend using the function if
an incompatibility is detected > A\.

be found in the database for tested mobile devi-

Audi connect
General information
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect
Depending on the country and the vehicle equip-
ment, the following functions may be available:
— Audi connect Infotainment
— Audi connect vehicle control
ZA WARNING
—To reduce the risk of an accident, only use
Audi connect services and the Wi-Fi hotspot
only if the traffic situation permits it. Read
and follow the guidelines provided in
= page 20, Traffic safety information.
— It is only safe to use tablets, laptops, mobile
devices and other similar devices when the
vehicle is stationary because, like all loose
objects, they could be thrown around the in-
side of the vehicle in a crash and cause seri-
ous injuries. Store these types of devices se-
curely while driving. Also read the warnings
in the chapter > page 84.
@) Note
—The connection costs of Audi connect Info-
tainment services are included in the price
of Audi connect Infotainment during the
subscription period with some exceptions.
Please note that there may be additional
charges when using some services. For ex-
ample, this applies to online radio/
podcasts, additional online data, or for In-
ternet connections and services that use the
Wi-Fi hotspot. Depending on the country,
data plans may need to be purchased for
these Internet connections and services
= page 225. For additional information, see
my.audi.com.
— In certain situations, the Wi-Fi hotspot data
connection may be established as a replace-
ment for the SIM card on your Wi-Fi device.
This feature depends on the configuration
of your Wi-Fi device and operating system.
This could result in fees depending on your
cell phone service provider, especially if you
are using this feature while abroad. A flat

rate data plan is strongly recommended. For
more information, contact your cell phone
service provider or refer to the owner's man-
ual for your Wi-Fi device.
— You are responsible for all precautions taken
for data protection, anti-virus protection,
and protection against loss of data on mo-
bile devices that are used, for example, to
access the Internet through the Wi-Fi hot-
spot.
— In areas with poor GPS reception or outside
the coverage range of the respective cell
phone service provider, some functions
and/or services may not be available, it may
not be possible to send or receive data, or
functionality may be limited.

— The availability of services depends on the
subscription.
— Audi merely provides access to third party
services through the MMI and does not as-
sume any responsibility for the content and
availability of these services.
— Use of the most up-to-date mobile network
standard is not available in every country.
Contact an authorized Audi dealer or au-
thorized Audi Service Facility or your cell
phone service provider for additional infor-
mation.
— Availability, scope, providers, screen display,
and costs of services may vary depending on
the country, model, model year, end device
and rates.
— All services can be modified, activated/deac-
tivated, renamed, and enhanced without
further notification.
Audi connect
Infotainment
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect Infotainment
With Audi connect Infotainment services, online
information is transmitted directly to the vehicle.
An Internet connection is required to use Audi
connect Infotainment. The Internet connection is >

Emergency call
Emergency call
Overview
Applies to: vehicles with emergency call function
An emergency call is a combination of data trans-
mission and a phone call. The data transmission
from your vehicle forwards important informa-
tion, such as the vehicle and position data, to the
emergency call center.
Depending on the country and the vehicle equip-
ment, the following functions may be available:
With the emergency call, you can call for help in
dangerous situations as quickly as possible. Use
this function when emergency help is needed
=> page 227.
— Audi connect emergency call (TPS emergency
call). This eCall system uses emergency call
centers operated by third party providers.
With online roadside assistance, you can request
assistance if there is a breakdown or a minor acci-
dent > page 228.

Emergency call
Applies to: vehicles with emergency call function
The services are provided through a SIM card in-
stalled in the vehicle. Services are provided as-
suming that the cell phone network required for
the installed SIM card is functioning and availa-
ble for use. The services made availably by Audi
are only available within the mobile phone net-
work coverage area for the mobile phone service
provider selected by Audi.
@ Tips
—The emergency call function cannot be deac-
tivated in the Infotainment system settings.
— The availability of the TPS emergency call is
limited to certain times.
—The costs for call and data connections for
TPS emergency calls is included in the price
of the services.

A TPS emergency call can be made manually or
automatically > page 227.
Making an emergency call

Manual emergency call
Requirement: the ignition must be switched on.
> Tap the cover (@) to open it.
> Press and hold the emergency call button until
the LED () blinks. The emergency call will be
made.
> If the emergency call button is pressed by mis-
take, then press it again immediately and hold
it until the LED stays on. The emergency call
will be canceled.
Automatic emergency call
The vehicle electrical system initiates an auto-
matic emergency call under certain circumstan-
ces, for example if an airbag deploys. The LEDin >

The following information will be displayed in the
driver information system, if available:
@ Current vehicle position
@A bar graph appears when there is an upcom-
ing turn. The fewer the bars that are shown, the
shorter the distance is until the turn. If there is
no upcoming turn immediately ahead, the dis-
tance to the destination or stopover, the calculat-
ed arrival time, and a direction arrow for the up-
coming maneuver will be displayed in the right
speedometer. If there is no upcoming maneuver,
the distance to the next maneuver will be dis-
played.

Opening alternative routes
Requirement: route guidance must be started

Media
Media
General information
There may be different media sources and con-
nections available depending on the vehicle
equipment. For example, you can play media files
using a connected USB drive or connect your mo-
bile devices to the Audi music interface and oper-
ate them through the MMI.
Media and format restrictions: the MMI (includ-
ing the USB storage device connection) was test-
ed with a variety of products and media on the
market. However, there may be cases where indi-
vidual devices or media and audio/video files may
not be recognized, may play only with restric-
tions, or may not play at all.
Restricted functionality: reset the MMI to the
factory default settings if functionality is restrict-
ed > page 264.
Digital Rights Management: please note that
the
audio/video files are subject to copyright pro-
tection.
Files that are protected by DRM and are identi-
fied with the symbol f@ will not play.
Data security: never store important data on
CDs/DVDs or mobile devices. Audi is not responsi-
ble for damaged or lost files and media.
Loading times: the more files/folders/playlists
there are on a storage medium, the longer it will
take to load. To reduce the amount of time it
takes the audio/video files to load, use a storage
medium that only contains audio/video files, and
create subfolders (for example, for each artist or
album).
Additional information: when playing, audio
files are automatically displayed with any addi-
tional information that is stored (such as the ar-
tist, track and album cover). If this information is
not available on the medium, the MMI will revert
to the local Gracenote metadata database or
search online if necessary. See > page 258, On-
line additional data. However, in some cases, the
additional information may not be displayed.

DVD drive
General information
Applies to: vehicles with a DVD drive
The functionality of individual storage mediums
may be limited due to the variety of blank CDs/
DVDs available and the various capacities. Audio
CDs or video DVDs with copy protection, CDs/
DVDs that do not conform to the standard, and
multisession CDs may have limited playback or
may not play at all. Audi recommends finalizing
the recording process when creating multisession
CDs. Multisession DVDs are not supported.
(1) Note
To reduce the risk of damaging the drive and
data carriers:
— Always store data carriers in a protective
sleeve and do not expose them to direct
sunlight
— Do not use damaged, dirty, or laminated da-
ta carriers
— Do not use single CDs/-DVDs with a 3.1 inch
(8 cm) diameter, non-circular CDs/DVDs
(shaped CDs), cleaning CDs, and protective
rings
— Never force CDs/DVDs into the drive. Discs
are pulled in automatically.
G) Tips
The thermal protection switch stops playback
temporarily when outside temperatures are
too high.

Audi smartphone interface
— The menu language shown in the MMIis
based on the settings in your smartphone.
— Some MMI functions are not available when
there is an active Audi smartphone interface
connection.
— You cannot connect any mobile devices via
Bluetooth when an Audi smartphone inter-
face connection is active.

shooting options. They depend on the equip-
ment.

rubber components in the fuel system.
— Do not use gasoline that does not meet the
specifications.
— If you are unable to find out if a specific gas-
oline mixture meets the specifications, ask
the gas station operator or their fuel suppli-
er.
— Do not use any gasoline mixture whose
composition cannot be identified.
— Audi does not assume any responsibility for
damage to the fuel system or for perform-
ance problems caused by using gasoline
mixtures different from those specified.
This type of damage also does not fall under
the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or under
the emissions control system warranty.
— If you notice a higher fuel consumption or
poor handling or performance problems due
to such gasoline mixtures, Audi recom-
mends fueling with unblended gasoline.
Gasoline additives
An important issue for many automobile manu-
facturers is combustion residue in the engine
that results from the use of certain fuels.
Although types of gasoline differ depending on
the manufacturer, there are similarities. Certain
substances in the gasoline may cause deposits in
the engine. Additives in the gasoline that should
keep the engine and fuel system clean do not all
function equally.
Audi recommends using TOP TIER Detergent Gas-
oline. For additional information on TOP TIER De-
tergent Gasoline, visit www.toptiergas.com.
If you use incorrect fuels over a long period of
time, the maximum engine performance may be
impaired by combustion residue.
@) Note
— Damage or malfunctions caused by the use
of incorrect types of gasoline are not cov-
ered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
— Only gasoline additives that have been ap-
proved by Audi may be used.

Audi Service Facility immediately to have the
malfunction corrected.

A Fuel filler door: malfunction! Unlock fuel
filler door manually. See owner's manual
There is a malfunction. You must manually un-
lock the fuel filler door > page 273.
Al Warning! Vehicle performance may be limit-
ed
The fuel tank is almost empty. You must antici-
pate a significant power loss. Refuel immediate-
ly.

If this indicator light turns on and this message
appears, refuel as soon as possible. Otherwise,

fires, and injuries.
— If you must transport fuel in a fuel contain-
er, note the following:
— Always place the fuel container on the
ground before filling. Never fill the fuel
container with fuel while it is inside or on
the vehicle. Electrostatic discharge can oc-
cur while refueling and the fuel vapors
could ignite.
— When using fuel containers made of met-
al, the fuel pump nozzle must always re-
main in contact with the container to re-
duce the risk of static charge.
— Insert the fuel pump nozzle as far as pos-
sible into the filler opening while refuel-
ing.
— Follow the applicable legal regulations in
the country where you are driving when
using, storing and transporting fuel con-
tainers.
— Make sure that the fuel container meets
the industry standards, for example ANSI
or ASTM F852-86.
©) Note
— Remove fuel that has overflowed onto any
vehicle components immediately to reduce
the risk of damage to the vehicle.
— Never drive until the fuel tank is completely
empty. The irregular supply of fuel that re-
sults from that can cause engine misfires.
Uncombusted fuel may enter the exhaust
system and increase the risk of damage to
the catalytic converter.
@) For the sake of the environment
— Do not overfill the fuel tank, or fuel could
leak out when the vehicle is warming up.
— Fuel should never enter the sewer system or
come into contact with the ground.
@) Tips
The fuel filler door on your vehicle does not
lock if you lock the vehicle from the inside us-
ing
the central locking switch.

G) Tips
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
— When inserting the fuel pump nozzle, make
sure that you do not press on the fuel filler
door opener @) with the fuel pump nozzle.

> fig. 176. Otherwise, a valve will close in
the fuel filler neck and fueling will stop even
if the tank is not full.
— You must vent the tank system again if you
press on the fuel filler door opener. The fuel
pump nozzle can stay in the fuel filler neck
when doing this. Vent the tank system by
pulling the EQ) switch in the driver's door
again.
— If the engine turned off because the fuel
level was too low, then you may need to re-
fuel with up to 4.0 gallons (15 liters) of fuel
in order for the vehicle to detect the new
fuel level. Otherwise, the engine may not
restart.
— Fuel can age and may lead to problems
when starting. Audi recommends replacing
the fuel in your vehicle within six months.
