Theengineoilmustbechangedattheintervals
specifiedintheWarranty&MaintenanceBook-
let.ThisisveryimportantbecausetheLubrication
functionoftheoilgraduallydeclinesduringregu-
larvehicleoperation.
Theengineoilshould bechangedmorefrequent-
lyundercertaincircumstances.Havetheoil
changedmorefrequentlyifyouoftendriveshort
distances,yourvehicleispredominantlyinstop-
and-gotrafficsituations,isinverydustyenviron-
ments,orisoperatedforlongperiodsoftimein
temperaturesbelowzero.
Cleansingadditivesintheoilmakefreshoilap-
peardarkeraftertheenginehasrunbriefly.This
isnormalandnoreasontochangetheengineoil
morefrequentlythanrecommended.
Becausecorrectlydisposingofengineoilisdiffi-
cultandspecialtoolsandtechnicalknowledge
areneededforanoilchange,havingyourengine
oilchangedby anauthorizedAudidealerorau-
thorizedAudiServiceFacilityisrecommended.
Ifyouchangetheengineoilyourself,pleasenote
thefollowingimportantinformation:

—Wearprotectiveeyewear.
—Duetotheriskofscalding,allowtheengine
to cooldownsufficiently.
—Maintainenoughdistancewhenyouarere-
movingtheoildrainplug.Whiledoingthis,
keep yourforearmparalleltothegroundto
reducetheriskofhotoildrippingdownyour
arm.
—Draintheoilintoacontainerdesignedfor
thispurposethatislargeenoughtoholdthe
fullamountofoilinyourengine.
—Engineoilispoisonous.Alwaysstoreoutof
reachofchildren.
—Prolongedcontactofusedengineoilwith
theskinmaycauseskindamage.Always
washoiloffimmediatelywithsoapand wa-
tertoprotectyourskin.
