on a level surface or a slight slope.
- The parking lock may only be released using
the eme rgency release if the parking brake
is set . If it is not functioning, secure the ve­
hicle from rolling using the brake pedal or
other suitable means, such as blocking a
front and a rear wheel. An unsecured vehicle
may roll away, which increases the risk of an
accident.
- To reduce the r isk of an accident, you must
not drive when the emergency release is ac­
tivated .

Trail er to wing
If you have to drive th rough diffic ult road condi­
tions, you can raise the vehicle again after hitch ­
ing the trai ler or after adjust ing the tongue
weight .

Driving with a trailer
Driving with a trailer requires extra caution.
Speed
Adhere to the legal speed l imi ts. Follow t he lega l
regulations specif ic to the country.
As the speed inc reases, the d riving stability of
the t railer dec reases . The refore you sho uld not
exceed t he max imum legal speed limit when
there are unfavorable road, weather and/or wind
conditions. This especially applies when driving
downhill.
You must a lways reduce yo ur speed as soon as
you not ice even the s lightest swinging motion of
the trailer . Never try to "straighten out" the trail ­
er by accelerating.
The weig ht dis trib ution is very poo r if t he ve hicle
is empty and the trailer is loaded. However if you
must drive under these circumstances, t hen drive
especia lly slowly.

The rear cross-traffic assist can warn of a poten­
tial collision with approaching cross-traffic when
driving in reverse at speeds up to approximately
9 mph (15 km/h) . Within its limits, the system
monitors the areas behind and next to the vehicle
using the radar sensors when leav ing a parking
space

A WARNING
- The rear cross-traffic assist is an assist sys­
tem and cannot prevent a collision by itself.
The driver must always intervene. The driver
is always responsible for braking at the cor­ rect t ime.
- Please note that the rear cross-traff ic assist
may activate the brakes unexpectedly. Se­
cure a ny cargo that you are transpo rting to
reduce the r is k of damage or inju ry.
- Automatic braking cannot be triggered
aga in within 20 seconds afte r an a utomat ic
brake activation.
- If the re is a n acoust ic warning signal from
the rea r cross-traffic assist, then the park­
ing system may no t w arn you of detected
obstacles under ce rtain c ircumstances.
- The v iew of the radar sensors may be im­
pa ired by leaves, snow, heavy spray or dirt.

Night vision assist
Description
Applies to: vehicles with night vision assist
The night vision assist can detect, highlight and,
if necessary, warn about pedestrians and large
wild animals.
N ight vision assist he lps yo u when it is dark by
u sing an infra red camera to mon itor the area in
front of your ve hicle, w ith in the limits of the sys­
tem . It ca n disp lay objects up to a distance of ap­
prox ima tely 1 000 feet (300 m). The thermal im ­
age de te cte d by t he came ra is show n in t he in ­
str ument cluster disp lay . Wa rm areas appear
li ghter and co ld areas a ppear da rker.

short confirmation tone sounds and the L ED in
the button turns on.
Switching on automatically
The system switches on automatically when re­
verse gear is engaged while the engine is run­ ning. A brief confirmation tone will sound.
If the veh icle approaches an obstacle at speeds
under approximate ly 6 mph (10 km/h), the park ­
ing aid will switch on automatically . Audible sig­
na ls will sound only when the obstacle is already
clearly in the sensor detection range .
Switching off automatically
The system switches off automatically when driv­
ing forward faster than 6 mph (10 km/h).

Segments in the visual display
The segments in front of and behind the vehicle
i::> fig. 130 help you to determine the distance be­
tween your vehicle and an obstacle . The red
lines* mark the expected d irection of trave l ac ­
cording to the steering ang le. A white segment
indicates an identified obstacle that is outside of
the veh icle 's path. Red segments show identified
obstacles that are in your veh icle's path . As your
vehicle comes closer to the obstacle , the seg­
ments move closer to the vehicle . T he collision
area has been reached when the next to last seg­
ment is displayed . Obstacles in the collis ion area,
i ncluding those outside of the vehicle's path, are

Working in the engine compartment
Special care is required if you are working in the engine compartment
F or wo rk in th e en gine co mpartm en t, suc h as
ch eck ing and filli ng flu id s, th ere is a r isk o f in­
jur y, sca lding, ac cident s, a nd b urn s. Fo r this
re aso n, follow all the warning s and gener al
s af ety pr ecau tions pr ovided in the f ollowin g in­

A WARNING
- T urn the engine off.
- Swit ch the ign ition off.
- Set the parking brake .
- Select the "P" selector lever posit ion .
- Let the engine cool down.
- Never open the hood when there is steam or coolant escaping from the eng ine compart­
ment, because there is a risk that you could
be burned . Wait until no steam or coolant is
escaping.
- Keep children away from the engine com­
partment .
- Never spill flu ids on a hot engine. These flu­
ids (such as the anti -freezing agent con­
tained in the coolant) can ignite .
- Avoid short circu its in the electrical system .
- When working in the engine compartment,
remember that the radiator fan can sw itch
on even if the ign ition is switched off, which
increases the risk of injury .
- Never open the cap on the coolant expan­
sion tank when the eng ine is warm. The
cooling system is under pressure .
- To protect your face, hands, and arms from hot steam or coolant, cover the cap with a
large cloth when opening.
- Do not remove the engine cover under any circumstances . This increases the risk of
burns.
- If tests need to be performed w ith the en­
gine running, there is additional danger due
to moving components (such as the ribbed
Ch eck ing and F illing
be lt, alternator and radiator fan) and from
the high-voltage ignition system.
- Do not under any circumstances activate the
throttle inadvertently (for example, by hand
from the engine compartment) if the veh i­
cle is stat ionary but the eng ine is running
and a gear is engaged . Otherwise, the veh i­
cle will start to move immed iately and this
could result in an acc ident.
- Pay attent ion to the following warnings
when work on the fue l system is required :
- Do not smoke .
- Never wor k nea r open flames .
- Always have a working fi re extingu isher
nearby.
- All work on the battery or electrical system
in your veh icle can result in inju ries, chemi­
cal burns, acc iden ts or bu rns . Because of
this, all work m ust be performed
onl y by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility.
- To reduce the risk o f electric shock and in ­
jury, never touch the following components
when the engine is running or is being start­
ed:
- Ign it ion cable
- Other components in the electronic high -
voltage ign ition system
- If you must check or perform work on the
engine wh ile it is running:
- Set the parking brake first and then se lect
the "P" selector lever position .
- Always proceed w ith extreme caution so
that clothing, jewelry or long hair do not
become caught in the radiator fan, fan
belt or other moving components or do
not come into contact with hot compo­
nents. Tie back long hair before beginning
work and do not wear clothing that can hang down into the engine .

cals to as short a time as possible

The vehicle tool kit, vehicle jack, tire mobility kit
and comp ressor are s to red in the luggage com­
pa rtment unde r the cargo floor cove r. Lift the
cargo floor using the handle.
& WARNING
Impro per use of the vehicle jac k can ca use se­
rious perso nal injuries.
- Never use the screw drive r hex he ad to
tigh ten whee l bolts, since the bol ts cannot
atta in the necessary tighten ing torque if you
use the hex head, potentially ca using an ac­
c ident.
- The factory-supplied jack is i nten ded on ly
for your vehicle model. Under no circ um­
stances should it be used to lift heavy
vehicles or other loads; you r isk injuring
yourself.
- Never start the engine whe n the vehicle is
ra ised, which could ca use a n accident.
- Support the veh icle secure ly with appropr i­
ate stands if work is to be performed under-

neath the vehicle; otherwise, there is a po­
tential risk for injury.
- Never use the jack supplied with your Audi
on another vehicle, particularly on a heavier
one. The jack is only su itable for use on the
veh icle it came with.
