Thebatterywillgraduallydrainifthevehicle
doesnotrunforlongperiodsoftime.Toensure
thatthevehiclecanstillbestarted,theelectrical
equipmentwillbereducedorswitchedoff
=page151.Someconveniencefunctions,such
asinteriorlightingorpowerseatadjustment,
maynotbeavailableundercertaincircumstan-
ces.Theseconveniencefunctionswillbeavailable
againonceyouswitchtheignitiononandstart
theengine.
Evenwhenelectricalequipmentisswitchedoff,
theequipmentcanstilldrainthebatteryifthe
vehicleisnotdrivenforLongperiodsoftime.
Deepdrainingresultsinachemicalreactionthat
destroys
theinsideofthebattery.Thebattery
mustbechargedevery monthtopreventthis

pairofjumpercablestostarttheengine.
Jumpercables
Useonlyjumpercablesofsufficientlylargecross
sectiontocarrythestartercurrentsafely.Refer
tothemanufacturer'sspecifications.
Useonlyjumpercableswithinsulatedterminal
clampswhicharedistinctlymarked:

battery'sstateofcharge.Alwaysconnectthe
negativegroundcabletothenegativeground
postofthebatterymanagercontrolunit.
