Locking the front passenger's door with
the mechanical key
The emergency lock is located on the rear side
of the front passenger's door. It is only visible
when the doo r is open.
• Remove the mechanical key ¢
page 32 .
• Pull the cover cap out of the opening
¢ fig. 25.
• Inse rt the key in the inside slot and turn it
all the way to the right.
Once the front passenger's door has been
closed, you cannot open it again from the out
side. The door can be opened from the inside
by pulling the door handle.

After the ignition is switched on, the pow
er locking system switch is enab led .
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents your vehicle from
being started by unauthorized persons .
-
Inside the key there is a computer chip . This
ch ip automatically activates/deactivates the
e lectronic immobilizer.
Applies to vehicles with ignition lock:
The electron ic immobilizer deactivates auto
mat ica lly when you insert the remote contro l
key into the ignition lock.
It activates again a
utomatical ly when you remove the remote
control key from the ignition lock.
Applies to vehicles with convenience key:
If the remote control key is located inside the
vehicle and you press the
I START ENGINE ST OPI button, the electronic
immobilizer deactivates automatica lly. If you
switch the ignition off and remove the remote
control key from the vehicle, the electronic
immobilizer activates again automatically.
A WARNING
--
Always take the key with you when you
leave the vehicle. The key can disarm the
electronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine
and enable operation of the vehicle sys
tems such as power window or power sun
roof leading to se rious personal injury.

- The vehicle cannot be started if an una u
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start if another radio device s uch as a key
for another vehicle or a transponder is
located on the key ring.

s ide and allow it to drop gently to close it

A WARNING
-After closing the rear lid, always pull up
on it to make sure that it is properly
closed. Otherwise it could open suddenly
when the vehicle is moving .
- To help prevent po isonous exhaust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al
ways keep the rear lid closed while driv
ing. Never transport objects larger than
those which fit completely into the lug
gage area, because then the rear lid can
not be fully closed.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended es
pecially with the rear lid left open. A
child could crawl into the car through the
luggage compartment and pull the lid
shut, becoming trapped and unab le to
get out. To reduce the risk of persona l in
jury, never let children p lay in or around
your vehicle . Always keep the rear lid as
well as the vehicle doors closed when not
in use .
- Always ensure that no one is w ithin
range of the rear lid whe n it is mov ing, in
part icular close to the h inges -fingers or
hands can be pinched.
@ Tips
When the vehicle is locked, the rear lid can
be opened separately by pressing the but
ton
c:s on the master key. When you close
the rear lid again, it locks automatically .

There is an emergency release for the rear lid .

In case of an emergency, the luggage com
partment lid can be opened from the inside using the trunk escape handle.

Correcting window regulator
, malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the
one -touch up and down feature must be acti
vated again.
.. Pull and hold the power window switch until
the window is completely closed .
.. Release the switch and pull the sw itch again
for one second.
Valet parking

The valet parking feature protects the lug
gage compartment from unauthorized ac
cess .

You can switch the "valet parking function" on
when someone else is parking your vehicle .
When the function is switched on, the vehicle
can be driven, locked and unlocked using the
master key, but access to the luggage com
partment is not permitted.

You can activate various systems such as ga
rage doors, sec urity systems and home light
ing from inside yo ur vehicle using the ga rage
door opener (Homelink). There are three but
tons for this in the vehicle headliner that can
be in used in place of up to three hand -he ld
transmitters.
To operate systems using the garage door
opener , the three buttons in the roof headlin
er must be programmed first .
A WARNING
Make sure no people or objects are in the
immediate vicinity of the equipment when
using or programm ing the garage doo r
opene r. People can be injured and objects
can be damaged if they are caught in the
equipment .

you clear the programmed buttons be
fore se lling the vehicle. -

to the rear is limited . Avoid operating the
top while driving in reverse.

- To prevent damage to the power top:
- do not store any objects in the power
top compartment.
- make sure there is enough space above
the vehicle when opening or closing
the power top.
- To reduce the risk of damage, make sure
there are no fragile objects within the
storage bay's range of motion.

-To prevent the battery from draining, do
not open or close the power top repeat
edly when the engine is switched off.

cluster display if there is a power top
malfunction

The cause of the malfunction
should be corrected by an authorized
Audi dealer or authorized repair facility
as soon as possible.
- The vehicle is not protected from the
weather or from unauthorized entry if
the vehicle is left parked with the power
top open. Lock any objects you are leav ing in the vehicle in the luggage com
partment. Close the power top before
leaving the vehicle.

Power top emergency
operation
General information
The power top can be closed manually if there
is a malfunction.
~ Set the parking brake.
~ Open the windows.
~ Switch the ign ition off.
~ To reduce pressure in the powe r top hydraul
ics, pull the<¾, button for approximately 10
to 15 seconds ¢
page 43, fig. 36.
Only close the powe r top manually in an emer
gency . Have a second person help you. Drive
to an authorized Audi dealer or authorized re
pa ir facility immediately to have the malfunc
tion corrected.
A WARNING
-There is a risk of p inching your hands or
injuring othe r people during all steps in
the power top emergency operation
process.
- Make sure all w indows are open during
emergency operation.
- Do not hold the power top supports or
other moving parts.
- Never drive when the power top is not
locked correctly. The wind from driving
cou ld cause the power top to open . This
can result in injur ies and damage to the
vehicle.
@ Tips
The vehicle headliner is not clipped in and
the power top compartment cover is not
locked after using the power top emergen
cy operation procedure. Drive to an author- Power top 4

ized Audi dealer or authorized repair facili
ty immediately to have the malfunction
corrected .

• To loosen the headliner, raise the rear of the
power and pull on the yellow loop
