High bea m assistan t is only i ntended to assist
t he driver. The dr iver is still re sponsib le for
contro lling the headlights and may need to
switch them on and off manually depend ing
on light and visib ility conditions. It may be
necessary to ope rate them manua lly in s itua­
tions such as:
- In adverse weather cond itions such as fog,
heavy ra in, b low ing snow or sp raying water .
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be
partially obsc ured, such as expressways .
- If there a re road users w ith poor lighting ,
such as bicyclists.
- In tight c urves and on steep hills .
- In poor ly li t areas.
- W it h stro ng reflec tors, such as si gns.
- If the ar ea of the windsh ield near the s enso r
is fogged ove r, dirty, i cy or covere d w it h a
sti cker.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
The fu nctions are adjusted in t he Infotainment
system.

The entry/exit lighting only works whe n it is da rk

Daytime running lights1l
The daytime running lig hts can be turned on and
off. When daytime running lights a re t urned on,
the lights will stay on continuously whenever the ignition is sw itched on .
Emergency flashers

Assistance systems
Speed warning system
Description
Applies to: veh icles with speed warning system
The speed warning system helps you to stay be­
low a specified maximum speed that can be set,
changed or deleted in the Infotainment system.
The speed warning system warns you if you are
exceeding the maximum speed that you have set .
A warni ng tone will sound as soon as your speed
exceeds the sto red value slight ly. The
[OJ (USA
models) ;[;] (Canada models) indica to r li gh t and
the co rresponding message appear in the inst ru­
ment cluster display at the same time. The
[C]
(USA models)/ [ej (Canada mode ls) indicator
light and the message turn off w hen the vehicle
speed drops below the stored maximum speed .
Sett ing a threshold is recommended if you would
like to be reminded when yo u reach a certa in
maximum speed . Situations where you may want
to do so include driving in a country with a ge ner­
al speed limit or if there is a specified maximum
speed for winter tires.

Regardless of the speed warning system, you
should always monitor yo ur speed using the

The cruise control system makes it possible to
drive at a constant speed starting at 15 mph (20km/h) .

The stored or prese lec ted speed w ill be displayed
briefly in the instrument cluster .
The speed is mainta ined by modifyi ng engine
power or through an active bra ke intervention.
&_ WARNING
- Always pay at ten tion to the traffic a ro und
you whe n the cruise contro l system is in op­
erat ion . You are always respons ible fo r your
speed and the distance between your vehi­
cle and other vehicles.
-For safety reaso ns, cruise cont rol should not
be used in the city, in stop-and-go traff ic, on
w inding roads and when road conditions are
poor (such as ice, fog, gravel, heavy rai n and
hydroplaning), because this increases the
r isk of an accident.
-Switch t he cr uise control off temporarily
when dr iv ing in turning lanes, highway exits
or in construction zones .
- Please note that unconsciously
"rest ing"
your foot on the accelerator pedal prevents

-your vehicle is traveling at speeds between ap ­
proximately 20 to 50 mph (30 to 85 km/h) and
it approaches a stationary vehicle.
- your vehicle is traveling at speeds between ap ­
proximately 20 to 155 mph (30 to 250 km/h)
and it approaches a vehicle that is clearly trav ­
eling more slowly or a veh icle in your direction
o f travel tha t is stopped.
When this warning occurs, it may only be possi ­
b le to avoid a collision by swerving or braking
strong ly. The message

about the danger .
If there is an impending collision with vehicles,
there will a lso be an
acute warning in the form of
sharp braking. If you do not react to the acute
warn ing, pre sense front can brake with increas ­
ing force within the limits of the system . T his re­
duces the vehicle speed in the event of a coll i­
sion .
Autom atic deceleration
Depending on the speed, pre sense front can de­
cel erate automatica lly
shortly before a collision:
-if there are stationary vehicles when you are
traveling at speeds up to approx imately 28
mph (45 km/h)
-if there are veh icles dr iv ing or stopped ahead
whe n you are traveling at speeds up to approxi­
mately 155 mph (250 km/h)
Autom atic bra king force inc rea se
If pre sense front determines that you are not
braking strongly enough when a co llision is imm i­
nent, it can inc rease the braking force, depending
on the situation and speed:
-if there are stationary vehicles when you are
traveling at speeds up to approx imately 50
mph (85 km/h)
-if the re are ve hicles driving or stopped ahead
when you are traveling at speeds up to approxi­
mately 155 mph (250 km/h)
A WARNING
Pre sense front cannot ove rcome the laws of
physics . It i s a system des igned to assist and

it cannot prevent a coll is io n in eve ry ci rc u m ­
stance . The driver m ust always intervene. The
driver is always respons ible for braking at the
correct time . Do not let the inc reased safety
provided tempt yo u into tak ing risks . This
could inc rease your r isk of a co llision.
-Keep in mind that pre sense front can pro­
vide war nings or b rake unexpectedly. Al­
ways secure a ny cargo or objects that yo u
a re transporting to reduce t he ris k of dam­
a ge or inj ury.
-The system can dep loy in co rre ctly due to
sys tem -specific li mits.
-Please note that the se nsor does not a lways
detect a ll obje cts. Thi s increases the r is k of
a c ollision .
-Pre sense front does not rea ct to ve hicles
tr ave ling towa rd yo u in the same lane, to
peop le, groups of people, anim als, ob je cts
that are crossing the road, or objects t hat
are difficult to

A WARNING
Pre sense front may be restricted o r not avai l­
ab le in the fo llow ing example s ituations :
-if there a re othe r reflective objects nearby,
such as gua rd ra ils or vehicles
-when driving into a tunnel
-in heavy fog, ra in, sp ray o r snow
-if the rada r senso r is d irty, covered in ice,
d amaged, or cove red
- in curves
- if the ESC was restr icted or sw itched off

The sensor can be d isplaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and underbody. Pre sense front can be impaired

-You can cancel the braking with increasing
fo rce that is init iated by the system by brak­
i ng yourself, by accelerat ing noticeab ly or
by swerving.
- Certain pre sense front functions switch off when ESC is switched off (sport mode) or
when driving in reverse.
- If you rest rict or sw itch off the ESC, the pre
sense a lso switches itself

tion is affected. For example, this could be
caused by a faulty sensor. If the message stays
on, dr ive immed iately to an author ized Audi deal­
e r o r author ized Audi Serv ice Facility to have the
malfunc tion cor re cted.

T his message appears if the senso r view is ob ­
structed, for examp le by leaves, snow, heavy

failure in a s ubsystem, such as the ESC. If this
message appears repeatedly, drive to an author­

off
This message appears if the pre sense functions
are switched off throug h the Infotainment sys­
tem or if the system is not ready .
Audi active lane assist
Description
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist
Active lane assist (lane departure warning) de­
tects lane marker lines within the limits of the
system using a camera in the windshie ld. If you
are approaching a detected lane marker line and
it appears likely that you w ill leave the lane, the
system will warn you with corrective steering.
You can overr ide this steer ing at any time. If you
pass over a line, the stee ring wheel will vib rate
li gh tly. In order for this wa rning vib rat ion to
oc­
c ur , it must firs t be swi tc h ed o n in the I nfot ain­
ment system. Active lane assist is ready for oper ­
ation when the lane marker line is detected on at
l east one side of the vehicle.
T he system is des igned for dr iving on express ­
ways and hig hways and t herefo re o nly ac tiva tes
at speeds above approximate ly 40 mph (65 km/
h). ....

Assistance systems
Appl ies to: vehicles w ith Audi side assist
If you activate a turn signal when active lane as­
sist is ready and it classifies a lane change as crit­
ical because of vehicles traveling alongside you or
approaching you, there will be noticeable correc ­
tive steering shortly before you leave the lane.
This will attempt to keep your vehicle in the lane .
Applies to: veh icles without Audi s ide ass ist
The system will not warn you before crossing a
lane marker line if you have activated the turn
signal. In this case, it assumes that you are
changing lanes intentionally.
A WARNING
-The system warns the driver that the vehicle
is leaving the lane using corrective steering.
The driver is always responsible for keeping
the vehicle within the lane.
- The system can help you keep the vehicle in
the lane, but it does not drive by itself. Al­
ways keep your hands on the steering
wheel.
- Corrective steering may not occur in certain
situations, such as during heavy braking.
- There may be cases where the camera does not recognize all lane marker lines . Correc­
tive steering can only take place on the side of the vehicle where lane marker lines are
detected.
- Other road structures or objects could possi­
bly be identified unintentionally as lane
marker lines. As a result, corrective steering
may be unexpected or may not occur.
- The camera view can be restricted, for ex­
ample by vehicles driving ahead or by rain,
snow, heavy spray light shining into the
camera or by dirt on the window. This can
result in active lane assist not detecting the
lane marker lines or detecting them incor­
rectly.
- Under certain conditions such as ruts in the
road, an inclined roadway or crosswinds, the
corrective steering alone may not be enough
to keep the vehicle in the middle of the lane.
- For safety reasons, active lane assist must
not be used when there are poor road and/
or weather conditions such as slippery

roads, fog, gravel, heavy rain, snow and the
potential for hydroplaning . Using active lane
assist under these conditions may increase
the risk of a crash .

If the system is switched on but is not ready to
p rovide warnings, one of the following cou ld be
the cause:
-There is no lane marker line.
-The relevant lane marker lines are not detected
(for example, mark ings in a construction zone
or because they are obstructed by snow, dirt,
water or lighting).
-The veh icle speed is below the activation speed
of approx imately 40 mph (65 km/h) .
-The lane is too narrow or too wide .
-The curve is too narrow.
-The driver's hands are not on the steering
wheel.

-Make sure the camera's field of view

-In certain markets: if the system is switched
on, it will switch on automatically each t ime
