Head-up Display
Applies to: vehicles with Head-up Display

The Head-up Display projects certain warnings or
selected information from the assist systems* or
navigation* on the windshield. The d isplay ap­
pears within the drive r's field of vision.
Switching on/off
• To switch the Head-up Display on or off, press
the knob

Adjusting the height
The height of the display can be adjusted to the
individual driver.
• Make sure you are seated correctly

Settings in the Infotainment system

Display content
In the Infotainment system, yo u can specify
which information should be displayed: For ex­
ample, this can include navigation information*,
adaptive cruise control* or camera-based traffic
sign recognit ion* .
The display of certain information and some of the red indicator lights cannot be hidden in the
Infotainment system.
Brightness
You can adjust the display brightness in the Info­
tainment system. The display brightness decreas-

Picture rotation
You can rotate the picture in the Infotainment
system clockwise o r counterclockwise.
(D Note
To prevent scratches on the glass cover ing the
head-up display, do not place any objects in
the pro jection opening.
(D Tips
- Sunglasses with polarization filters and un­
favorable lighting conditions can have a
negative effect on the display .
- An opt imum disp lay depends on the seat
posi tion and the heigh t adjustment of the
head -up disp lay.
- A special windshie ld is needed for the head­
up display function.

Opening and closing
Central Locking
Description
You can lock and unlock the veh icle centrally . You
have the following choices:
- Remote control key¢
page 40,
-Sensors in the door handles * ¢ page 40
- Lock cylinder on the driver's door¢ page 42,
or
- Interior central locking switch ¢
page 41.
Turn signals
The turn s ignals flash twice when you unlock the
veh icle and flash once when you lock the veh icle.
If they do not flash, then one of the doors, the
rear lid or the hood is not closed.
Automatic locking (Auto Lock)
The Auto Lock funct ion locks all doors and the
luggage compartment lid once the speed has ex­
ceeded approximately 9 mph (15 km/h).
The vehicle can be unlocked if the opening func­
tion in the central locking system sw itch is used
or one of the door handles is pulled.
In the event of a crash with airbag deployment,
the doors will a lso automat ically unlock to allow
access to the vehicle.
Selective door unlocking
The doors and luggage compartment lid will lock
when they close . You can set in the Infotainment
system whether
only the driver's door or the en­
tire vehicle should be unlocked when unlocking
¢page 41.
Unintentionally locking yourself out
The following conditions prevent you from lock­
ing your remote control key in the vehicle:
- If the driver's door is open, the vehicle cannot
be locked by pressing the~ button on the re­
mote control key or by touching the locking

- When locking using the~ button in the central
locking switch, the vehicle will not lock if a door
is open ¢
page 41.
-On vehicles with a convenience key*, the lug­
gage compartment lid unlocks again after clos­
ing if the most recently used key is in the lug­
gage compartment. The emergency flashers blink four times.
Do not lock your vehicle with the remote control
key or convenience key* until all doors and the
luggage compartment lid are closed. This helps
to prevent you from locking yourself out acciden­
tally .
A WARNING
-
-When you lock your vehicle from outs ide,
nobody -espec ially children -should rema in
inside the vehicle. Remember, when you
lock the vehicle from the outside the win­
dows cannot be opened from the inside .
- When you leave the vehicle, always take the
ignition key with you. This will prevent pas­
sengers (children, for examp le) from acci­
dentally being locked in the vehicle should
they accidentally press the power locking
switch in the doors.
- Do not leave children inside the vehicle un­
supervised. In an emergency it would be im­
possible to open the doors from the outside
without the key.
(D Tips
- Do not leave valuables unattended in the ve­
hicle. A locked vehicle is not a safe!
- The LED in the driver's door rail blinks when
you lock the vehicle. If the LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a malfunction in the central locking
system . Have the problem repaired by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility.

You can switch the valet parking function on l )
when someone else is parking you r veh icle . When
the function is sw itched on, the vehicle can be
driven, locked and unlocked us ing the master
key, but access to the luggage compartment is not permitted .

.. Press the I VA LET I button to switch the valet

well, lock the pass-through and the rear seat

parking your ve hicle and keep the mecha nical

The follow ing buttons are deactivated when the
valet parking funct ion is switched on:
- C::J button in the dr iver 's door
- C::J button on the remote control key
- Handle in the rear lid
When the valet parki ng f unction is swi tched on,
the message Valet parking a cti va te d appears in
the instrument cluster display when you switch
the ignition on .

Please note that the luggage compartment
c a n sti ll be accessed from t he vehi cle interior
in vehicles with fixed rear seat backres ts or
ones t hat cannot be locked, even when the
valet parking function is switched on .

Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opene r (Horne Link)

With the garage door op ener (Homelink) , you
can activate systems such as the garage doors,
security systems or house lights from inside your
vehicle. Three buttons are integrated i n the head­
liner that can be programmed to up to three re­
mote controls .
To be able to operate systems using the garage door opener, the buttons in the headliner must
first be programmed .
A WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people o r o b­
jects a re in the immediate area of the sys tem.
P eop le can be injured or property can be dam­
aged i f str uck when closing.

- For sec urity reasons, we recommend that
yo u clear the prog rammed but tons before
sell ing t he ve hicl e.

Lights and Vi sion
Switching the h igh beams on/off manually
If th e h igh beams did no t swi tch on/off automat ­
ically as expec ted, you may sw itch them on or off
manually instead :

Operating the headlight flasher

The head light assistant rema ins active.

The camera view is blocked, for example by a
sticker o r debr is .
The senso r is locate d between the interior rear­
view mir ror and the win dshield. Do not place any
sticke rs in th is area on the windshield.
A WARNING
Headlight assistant is only intended to assist
t he driv er. The dr iver is still r esp onsible for
cont ro llin g th e headl igh ts a nd may ne ed to
switch them on an d off manu ally depe ndin g
o n lig ht a nd visib ility con dition s.
It m ay be
necess ary to ope ra te them manually in s itu a­
tions such as :
- In ad verse we ather conditi ons such as fo g,
h eavy r ain, b low in g snow or sp rayin g wa te r.

- On roads where oncomin g tra ffic may be
pa rtially obscured, such as expressways.
- W hen the re are roa d users that do not have
suff icient lighting, such as b icyclers or
veh icles with dirty tail lamps.
- In tig ht curves an d on steep h ills.
- In poorly li t areas.
- Wi th st ro ng ref le ctor s, such as s igns .
- If th e area of the w inds hield ne ar the sensor
is fogged over, di rty, icy or covered with a
s tick er.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
Th e functions are adjust ed in th e Infotainment
sys tem .
~ Select in the Infotainment system : IMENU! but­
t on
> Vehicle > left cont rol b utton > Vehicle
settings > Exterior lighting .
Automat ic headlights
You can adjust the following sett ings in the Au­
tomatic headlights
men u:
Acti vation time -you can adjust if the headlights
switch on
Early , Med or Late accord ing to the
sensit ivity of t he lig ht sensor.
Headlight assistant * -you can switch the hea d­
li ght assistant * on and off.
Entry/exit lighting
Whe n it is da rk , the Entry/exit lighting ill um i­
na tes the area a ro und t he vehi cle when unlo cki ng
the ve hicle an d after switc hing off the ig nitio n
and o pening the dr iver's door.
The
Entry/exit lighting only wo rks when i t is
d ar k and the light sw itch is in the
AUTO p osit io n.
Daytime running lights
USA models:
the dayti me r unning lig hts can be
swi tched on/off. Select
On or Off.
Canada models : this function ca nnot be switched
off . They act ivate automatically eac h time the ig ­
nit ion is switched on .

Emergency flashers

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of your vehicle in dangerous situat ions .
.. Press the~ button to switch the emergency
flashers on or off.
You can indicate a lane change or a turn when the
emergency flashers are switched on by using the
turn signal lever. The emergency flashers stop
temporarily.
The emergency flashers also work when the igni­
tion is turned off.
(D Tips
You shou ld switch the emergency flashers on
if:
- You are the last car in a traffic jam so that
a ll other vehicles approaching from behind
can see you, or if
- Your vehicle has broken down or you are
having an emergency, or if
- Your vehicle is being towed or if yo u are
towing another vehicle.

Interior lighting
Front interior lighting
The interior lighting consists of the interior lights
and the reading lights for the driver and front
passenger .

To switch off the applicable reading light on or off, touch the surface @briefly. To activate the
dimming function manually, touch the surface @

Interior lighting

The interior lighting turns on when you switch
the head ligh ts on while the igni tion is on .
Version 1
To adjust the brightness of individua l zones, se­
lect
Front brightness *, Door brightne ss or Foot­
w ell brightness .
Turn the control knob to the left
or to the right. Press the contro l knob to confirm
the br igh tness.
Version 2
Select and confirm one of the displayed profiles.
Individual: you can customize the brightness and
color of individual zones.
Press the right control button. Se lect and con­
fi rm one of the disp layed options. To change the
brightness or the color, turn the control knob to
the left or right . Press the control knob to con­
f irm the brightness or the color.

To adjust t he brightness of other profiles, press
the contro l knob to confirm the profile again.

Instrument illumination
The brightness of the instrument and display
lighting as well as the Head-up display* can be
adjusted.

Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru­
ment illumination (needles and gauges) may
turn on when t he lig hts are off and the igni­
tion is switched o n. T he i llum ination for the
gaug es reduces automa tically and eve ntua lly
turn s off a s br igh tne ss ou tside increases. Thi s
f u nct io n remin ds the dr ive r to tur n the low
b eams on at the appropria te t ime.

Turn the knob to the des ired position:

-If electrolyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of
clean water for at least 15 minutes and then
seek medical attention .
- If electrolyte fluid comes into contact with
the skin, flush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and then clean
with soap and water and seek medical at­
tention. Clean affected clothing and shoes
thoroughly before wearing again .
- If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscious, flush the mouth with water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting
unless this is recommended by medical pro­
fessionals. Seek medical attenti .on immedi­
ately.
(D Note
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, electrolyte can leak out . This liquid
damages plastic surfaces and paint. Clean
this liquid as quickly as possible, for example
with a wet sponge .
@ Tips
-If the light reaching the rearview mirror is
obstructed, the automatic dimming mirror
will not function correctly,
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected .
Sun visors

The sun visors for the driver and front passenger
can be released from their mounts and turned to­

@ until the compass in the mirror appears or
disappears.
The digital compass only works when the ign ition
is switched on. The direction is shown in abbrevi­
ated form:
N (North), NE (Northeast), E (East),
SE (Southeast), S (South), SW (Southwest), W
(West), NW (Northwest) .
Adjusting the magnetic zone
Applies to: vehicles with digital compass

(D Tips
To p revent inaccurate compass readings, do
not br ing any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror.
The magnetic zone must be adjusted correctly for the compass to read accurately.

pass must be recalibrated.

When jump starting or charging the battery,
never connect the negative ground cable to
the battery negative post because the battery
manager system must be able to detect the
battery's state of charge . Always connect the
negative ground cable to the negat ive ground
post of the battery manager control unit .
Using the jump start
cable
Both jump start cables must be connected in the
correct order!

The procedure described below for connecting
jumper cables is intended to provide a jump start
for your vehicle.
Vehicle with discharged battery
.. Turn off lights and accessories, move automatic
transmission lever to N (Neutral) or P (Park)
and set parking brake .
Emergency situations
Connecting the positive cable (red) to the
po sitive terminal
.. Open the red cover on the positive terminal

1. Secure one end of the positive cable (red) to
the jump start pin
r=> fig. 275 (D (pin under
the red cover = "posit ive") on the vehicle that
needs to be started @.
2. Secure the other end of the pos itive cable
(red) to the positive termina l@ on the bat­
tery provid ing the current @.
Connecting the negative cable (black) to the
negative terminal
3. Secure one end of the black negat ive cab le to
the negative terminal @on the battery that
i s p roviding the current@.
4. Secure the other end of the negative cable
(black) to the jump start pin@ (hex head pin
= "negative") on the vehicle that needs to be
started @.
Starting the engine
.. Start the engine on the vehicle providing the
jump start @and let it run at idle .
.. Now start the engine on the vehicle with the
drained battery @ .
.. If the engine does not start, stop the starting
procedure after 10 seconds and then repeat it
after approx imately 30 seconds .
.. Remove the cables when the engines are run­
ning. Remove them in reverse order from the
way they were installed.
.. Close the red cover on the positive terminal.
T he battery is vented to the outside to prevent
gases from enter ing the vehicle interior . Make
s ur e that the jumper clamps are well connected
with their
metal ports in full contact with the
battery terminals.
_& WARNING
-To avoid serious personal injury and damage to the vehicle, heed all warnings and instruc ­
tions of the jumper cable manufacturer. If in
doubt, call for road service.
- Jumper cables must be long enough so that
the vehicles do not touch . ..,_
