mentlidwithfootmotionactivation).
Requirements:youmustbecarryingyourconven-
ience key*withyou.Youmustbestandingatthe
centerbehindtheluggagecompartmentlid.The
ignitionmustbe switchedoff.Makesureyou
havefirmfooting.
—Moveyourfootbackandforthunderthebump-
eronetime>fig.29.Donottouchthebumper.
Theluggagecompartmentlidwillopenorclose
oncethesystemdetectsthemovement.
Theluggagecompartmentlidwillonlyopenor
closeifyouperformthemovementasdescribed.
Thispreventstheluggagecompartmentlidfrom
openingorclosingduetosimilarmovements,
suchaswhenyouwalkbetweentherearofthe
vehicleandyourgaragedoor.
Theclosingoftheluggagecompartmentlidisin-
dicatedbyawarningsignalandcanbecanceled
bymakingthedescribedmovementagain.
Thefootmovementdoesnotlockthevehicle.

Insomesituations,thefunctionmaybelimited
ortemporarilyunavailable.Thismayhappenif:
—Theluggagecompartmentlidwasclosedor
openedimmediatelybefore
—Youparkclosetoahedgeandthebranches
movebackandforthunderthevehiclefora
longperiodoftime
—Youcleanyourvehicle,forexamplewithapres-
surewasherorinacarwash
—Thereisheavyrain
—Thebumperisverydirty,forexampleafterdriv-
ingonsalt-coveredroads
—Thereisinterferencetothevehiclekey'sradio
signal,suchasfrommobiledevicesorremote
controls

—Paycarefulattentionwhenclosingthelug-
gagecompartmentlid.Otherwise,youcould
causeseriousinjurytoyourselforothersde-
spitethepinchprotection.
—Toreducetheriskofinjuriesbypinching,al-
waysmakesurethatnooneisintheoperat-
ingareaoftheluggagecompartmentlid,in-
cludingthehingeareasandtheupperand
loweredgeoftheluggagecompartmentlid.
—Neverdrivewiththeluggagecompartment
lidajaroropen,becausepoisonousgases
canenterthevehicleinteriorandcreatethe
riskofasphyxiation.
—Appliesto:allroad:ifthereisaluggagerack
(such as
abicyclerack)ontheluggagecom-
partmentlid,theluggagecompartmentlid
maynotopencompletelyundercertaincir-
cumstances,oritcouldclosebyitselfif
openduetotheextraweight.Therefore,the
openluggagecompartmentlid mustbegiv-
enadditionalsupportorthecargomustfirst
beremovedfromtheluggagerack.
