the MMI.

Operation
The driver information system is operated us­
ing the buttons on the multifunction steering
wheel.

T he short-te rm memory collects dr iv ing in for­
mation from the time the ignition is switched
on unti l it is switched off. If you continue driv­
ing within two ho urs after switch ing the ign i­
tion off, the new values are incl uded when cal­
cu lating the cu rrent trip information .
Unli ke the short-term memory, the long-term
memo ry is not erased automatically. Yo u can .,..

-When closing a door, make sure noth­
ing can interfere w ith the door. This
could cause ser ious personal injury.
- You can stop the door from closing at
any time by pulling on the inside or
outside door handle.
(D Tips
- In the event of a crash with airbag de­
ployment all locked doors will be auto­
matically unlocked to give access to the
vehicle occupants from the outside.
- If the power locking system should ma l­
function, you can lock the dr iver's door
using the mechanical key¢
page 35 .
-If the power lock ing system should fail,
you can st ill open the fuel tank flap in an
emergency ¢
page 221.
-You are well advised not to keep valua­
bles inside an unattended vehicle, visib le
or not . Even a properly locked vehicle
ca nnot provide the sec urity of a safe .
- If the LED in the upper edge of the driv­ er's door panel comes on for abo ut 30
seconds after t he vehi cle is locked, there
i s a ma lf u nction in the power loc king or
t h e anti- theft warni ng sys tem. Have the
malfunction corrected by an authorized
A udi dealersh ip or q ua lified repair facili ­
ty .
Setting power locking
The driver can determine the functions for
power locking in the MMI.

You can decide if All doors or

so unlocks when

only the door whose handle you pull will un­

Dri ver , all the doors and rear lid
will unlock if you press them button on the re­
mote control maste r key twice.
Loc k exterior trunk handle -If you se lec t On ,
the rear lid handle is locked . In this case the
rear lid can be opened with the b utton
cs on
the master key or with the
cs button * in the
driver's door . In veh icles with a convenience
key* , you can still open the rear lid using the
handle if an authorized master key is near the
proxim ity sensor .
Fold mir rors * -If you select On , the exterior
rearview mirrors fold in automatically w hen
you press the
ffi button on the remote control
master key or touch the sensor* in the ha ndle.
Lock when dr iving -If you select On, the vehi­
cle locks automatically when driv ing. All of
the doors and rear lid lock .
Tone when locking -When you select On , a
confirmat ion tone sounds when you lock the
vehicle.

- To help prevent poisonous exha ust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al­
ways keep the rear lid closed while driv­ ing. Never transport objects larger than
those which fit completely into the lug­ gage area, because then the rear lid can­
not be fully closed.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­
pecially with the rear lid left open. A
child could c rawl into the ca r th rough the
l u ggage compa rtment and pull the lid
shut, becom ing trapped and unab le to
get out. To reduce the risk of persona l in­
jury, never let children p lay in or around
yo ur vehicle . A lways keep the rear lid as
well as the vehicle doors closed when not in use.
When the veh icle is locked, the rear lid can
be unlocked separate ly by pressing the
button
c::$ on the master key . When the
rea r lid is closed aga in, it locks automat i­
cally.

The driver can control all power windows.

All power window switches are provided with
a two-pos ition function:
Opening the windows
"' Press the switch to the first stop and hold it
until the window reaches the desired posi­
tion.
"' Press the switch briefly to the
second stop
to automatically open the window .
Closing the windows
"' Pull the switch to the first stop and hold it
until the window reaches the desired posi­
t ion.
"' Pull the switch briefly to the
second stop to
automatical ly close the window.

Child safety lock
When the safety button® c:> fig. 30 is press­
ed, the LED in the button lights up. The fol­
l owing features are switched off:
- The power windows in the rear doors,

- The buttons for the power sun shades* in
the side windows,
- The buttons for the power sun shade* in the
rear window,
- Front passenger power seat adjustment*
button.
&_ WARNING ~
- When you leave your vehicle -even if on-
ly briefly - always take the ignit ion key
with you. This applies particularly when
children remain in the vehicle. Otherwise
the children could start the engine or op­
erate electrical equipment (e.g. power
windows). The power windows are func­
tional until the driver's door or passeng­
er 's door has been opened.
- Be careful when closing the windows.
Check to see that no one is in the way, or
serious injury could result!
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied since the
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency .
(j) Tips
- The driver can lower or ra ise the power
sun shades* in the sid e windows by using
switches © and @.
- After the ignition has been switched off,
the windows can st ill be opened or
closed for about 10 minutes. The power
windows are not switched off until the
driver's door or passenger's door has
been opened.
What to do after a malfunction
The one-touch open and close function must
be reactivated if the battery has been discon­
nected.
"' Pull and ho ld the power window switch until
the window is fully closed.
"' Release the switch and then pull it again for
at leas t one second.

Armrest
There is a storage compartment under the
armrest .

.. To move the armrest forward and up, press
the button -arrow- while pulling the armrest
into the desired position .

Please note that the driver's arm movements
may be restricted w ith the armrest folded
down . Fo r this reason, the armrest should not
be folded down when driving in city traffic.
Rear seats
General information
Safe transportation of passengers on the rear
seats requires proper safety precautions.
All passengers on the rear seats must be seat­
ed in compliance with the safety guidelines
explained in
¢page 137 and qpage 145.
The correct seating position is critical for the
safety of front
and rear seat passengers alike
¢page 130.
A WARNING
-Occupants in the front and rear seats
must always be properly restrained.
-

- Do not let anyone ride in the vehicle
without the head restraints provided.
Head restraints help to reduce injuries .
- Loose items inside the passenger com­
partment can fly forward in a crash or
sudden maneuver and injure occupants.
Always store articles in the luggage com­
partment and use the tie-down eyelets.
- Read and heed all WARNINGS
¢ page 130, Proper seating positions
for passengers in rear seats.

causing injur ies.

ter conso le have seating for four. The
long center console between the two
rear seats is
not a seating position .
Therefore, a safety belt is not provided.

seats, this seat must not be adjusted using
the power co ntrols under a ny circumstan­
ces. The easy entry funct ion for this seat
must also be deactivated in the MM I

Seat memory
Description
App lies to vehicles: with memory function
The memory function allows you to quickly
and easily sto re and recall personal seating
profiles for the driver, front passenger and
outer rear seats*. The memory function is op­
erated through the master key and the memo­ ry buttons in the driver 's/front passenge r's
doors and the rear doors*.
The driver's seating profi le is stored and as ­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked . The seating profile is recalled auto­
mat ically when the veh icle is unlocked . If two

Remote control key

To assign the driver's seat settings to the re­
mote contro l key when locking the vehicle, the
function must be switched on.

(D Tips
If you do not want another driver's set­
tings to be assigned to the remote control people
use one veh icle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own"
master key.

the driver's/front passenger's doors and one
seat ing profile in each of the rear doors*.
Once stored, these seating profiles can be re­
ca lled at any time.

The memory buttons are located in the driv­
er's/front passenger's door and in the rear
doors* .
Storing seating profiles
.. To store a seating profi le, press the ISETI
button and then one of the memory but­
tons .
.. To recall a seating profile, press and hold
the memory button until the seat is adjust­
ed to the stored settings.
.. To switch the memory function for the driv­
er or front passenger off, press the
IOFFI
button. The word OFF lights up when the
memory function is sw itched off. Seating
profiles will not be stored .
Adjusting the reclining position/standard
position
.. To adjust the reclining position, press and
hold the@ button until the seat moves into
the end position .
.. To adjust the standard position, press and
hold the @ button until the seat moves into
the end position.

A WARNING
-For safety reasons, the seat setting
should only be recalled when the veh icle
is stationary -otherwise you risk having
an accident.
- If necessary, you stop the process by
press ing the

The 115-volt socket can only be used when
the engine is running ¢.&. .When you push
the connector all the way into the socket, the
child safety mechanism releases and current

Operation
We recommend pressing the IAUTO I button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C) .

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off . Use the dials to adjust the temperature,
the blower speed and the air distribution . The
LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is sw itched on. The settings are shown in
the climate control display and are also shown in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
er and front passenger settings can be adjust­ ing separately.

sides in the four zone automat ic climate con­
rol*

IOFF I Switching the climate control
system on/off
The IOFFI button switches the climate control
system on or off . It also switches on when you
turn the dial o r press any button . Airf low from outside
is blocked when the climate control
system is switched off.
You can activate the residual heat function
when the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
i ng the ~ button . The residual heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior.
The residua l heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
IAC I Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not coo led and hum idity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the w indows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is below zero.
l=-1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi­
cle is circu lated and filtered . This prevents the
unf iltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior. We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traff ic
~ A .
The !AU TO l button or~ button switches reci r­
cu lation mode off.
IAUTOI Switching automatic mode on
Automat ic mode maintains a constant tem ­
perature inside the vehicle. Air temperature, .,..
