Lights and Vision
Canada models : this function cannot be switched
off . They activate automatica lly each time the ig­
n ition is switched on . T his menu item is shown
with a "gray background".
Com ing home , Lea ving home
The com ing home function illum ina tes the area
outside the vehicle when you turn the ignition off
and open the driver 's door . To switch o n the func ­
tion, select
Entry /ex it lighting .
The leav ing home ill umin ates t he a re a out side
the vehicle when you unlock the vehicle . To
switch on the function, select
Entr y/exi t light­
ing .
The com ing home and leaving home f unctions
only operate when it is dark and the lig ht switch
is in the
AU TO position.

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of yo ur vehicle in dangerous si tuat ions .
• Press the ~ button to switc h the eme rgency
flashers on or off.
You can indicate a lane change or a tu rn when the
em ergency fl ash ers are sw itched on by us ing the
tur n sig nal lever. The emergency flashers s top
tempo rar ily.
The emergency flashers also work when the igni­
tion is tur ned off.

You s hou ld switch the emergency flashers on
if:

- You a re the last c ar in a tra ffic j am so that
all other vehi cles approaching from behind
can see you, or if
- Your vehicle has broken down or yo u are
having an emergency, or if
- You r vehicle is be ing towed or if you are
towing another vehicle .

A switch is no longer needed to switch the read­
ing lights on . A swiping movement or a brief tap
o n the light is all that is needed to switch the
li ght on or off. If yo u hold your finger on the
r ead ing light when switching it on, this ca n dim
the light dow n to a certai n level.
Interior light ing
There are othe r optional interior lighting func­
tions that are available . Several funct ions can be
set in the Infotainment system . Select in the In­
f ota inment system :
I MENU I button >Vehicle >
left con trol button >Vehicle settings > Interior
lighting .

Sea ts and stor age
Roof rack
The roof rack must only be secured in the posi­
tioning bolt area.

If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- Yo ur vehicle has ae rodynami c rain channels
molded in to the roof . T h is is why convent ional
roo f luggage racks ca nnot be used . We recom ­
mend using roof rails from the Aud i Genu ine
Accessories program.
- These roof rai ls are the bas is for a complete
roof rack system . For safety reasons, some ad­
ditional attachments are necessary to transport luggage, bicycles, surf boards, skis and small
boats safely . All these components are availa­
ble at yo ur authorized Aud i dealer .
- The permitted roof load for your veh icle is 165
lbs (75 kg) . The roof load is a combination of
the weight of the carrier system and the cargo .
- When using roof rack systems with a lower load
capacity, you cannot use the maximum permis­
s ible roof load . In this case, the roof rack can
o nly be loaded to the weight lim it given in the
i nstallation guide.
Inst allation
When installing the support feet, make sure they
are only placed in the positioning bolt area be­
tween the side wa ll frame and the roof frame
trim ¢

- The cargo must be secure ly attached on the
roof rack; otherw ise you increase the r isk of
an accident .
- You must u nder no circ umstances exceed
the permissible roof load, the permissible
axle loads o r the pe rm issib le overa ll we ight
of yo ur vehicle be cause this increases the
ris k of an a cc iden t.
- Please note that there is a h igher r is k of an
accident when transporting heavy objec ts or
objec ts wi th a l arge sur face on the roof r ack,
since the handling characterist ics change
due to a shift in the center of gravity or the
greater surface area exposed to the wind . So
adapt your driving and speed to the actual
conditions.

If yo u use ot her roof l uggage rack systems or
do not install the racks as intended, any dam­
age to the vehicle is not covered by the war­ ranty . Carefu lly follow the assembly and in­
stallation instructions included with the roof
rack carrier system.
® For the sake of the environment
A roof rack is often left mounted out of con­
venience even if it is no longer used. Your ve­ hicle w ill use more fue l due to the inc reased
wind res istance. So remove t he roof rack after
u sing it.
Luggage compartment
General information
A WARNING
Read and fo llow the important safety preca u­
tions in
Q page 185, Stowing luggage.

Driving - The transmission can overheat and be dam­
aged under certain driving and traffic condi­
tions such as frequent starts, creeping for a
long time, or stop -and-go traffic. When the
@] or. indicator light turns on, stop the
vehicle at the next opportunity and let the
transmission cool
r=;, page 68 .
-Allowing the vehicle to roll when the engine
is stopped will damage the S tronic trans ­
mission because it is not lubricated

@ Tips
For safety reasons, the parking brake is re­
leased automatically only when the driver's
safety belt is engaged in the buckle.
Hill descent control
The hill descent control system assists the driver
when driving down hills .
Hill descent control is ac tivated when the selec­
tor lever is in the Dor S position and you press
the brake pedal. The transmission automatically
selects a gear that is suitable for the hill. Hill de­
scent control tries to maintain the speed ach­
ieved at the time of braking, within physical and
technical limitations.
If may still be necessary to
adjust the speed with the brakes. Because hill de ­
scent control cannot shift down farther than 3rd
gear, it may be necessary to shift into tiptronic
mode in very steep areas. In this case, shift man­
ually into 1st or 2nd gear in tiptronic mode to
use the engine's braking force to relieve the
brakes .
Hill descent control switches off once the hill lev­
els out or you press the accelerator pedal.
On vehicles with a cruise control system*
¢ page 70, hill descent control is also activated
when the speed is set.
A WARNING
Hill descent control cannot overcome physical
limitations, so it may not be able to maintain
a constant speed under all conditions. Always
be ready to apply the brakes.

Shifting manually (tiptronic mode)
The tiptronic allows the driver to shift the gears
manually .

Shifting with the selector lever
You can shift into tiptronic mode while stationary
and whi le driving.
.,. To shift into tiptronic mode, push the selector
lever from the D/S setting to the right in the
tiptronic shift gate. Once the transmission has
sw itched modes, the selector lever position

is shown in the Infotainment system display

This section describes using the selector lever
emergency release in left-hand drive veh icles .
The emergency release mechanism is located in
the right area under the selector lever shift gate.
Using the emergency release can be complicated.
We recommend contact ing an authorized Audi
dealer o r authorized Aud i Serv ice Facility fo r as­
sistance, if necessary .

If the vehicle must be pushed or towed due to a
power failure (for example, the battery is dead),
the selector lever must first be moved to the N
pos ition using the emergency re lease mecha­
nism.
A WARNING
Only move the selector lever out of the P pos i­
tion when the parking bra ke is set. If that
d oes no t wo rk, secure the ve hicle w ith the
bra ke ped al. Otherwise, t he veh icle co ul d
st art to move uninte ntiona lly w hen the selec ­
tor lever is moved out of the P position.
Trailer towing
General information '
Your Audi TT Coupe is not designed to tow a trail­
er.
Towing a trailer with you r Audi TT Coupe is not
recommended and can cause damage to the car.
Damaged caused by towing a trailer is not cov­
ered by your Audi Warranty.

mats will prevent them from sliding into posi­
tions that could interfere with the pedals or im­ pa ir safe operation of your vehicle in other ways.
.&_ WARNING
Pedals that cannot move freely can result in a
loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of
serious personal injury .
- Always make sure that floor mats are prop­
erly secured.
- Never place or install floor mats or other floor coverings in the veh icle that cannot be
properly secured in place to prevent them
from slipp ing and interfering with the ped­
als or the ability to contro l the vehicle.
- Never place o r install floor mats or other
floor coverings on top of already installed
floo r mats. Add it ional floor mats and othe r
coverings w ill reduce the size of the peda l
area and interfere with the pedals.
- Always properly reinstall and secure floor
mats that have bee n taken o ut for cleaning.
- Always make sure that objects cannot fall
in to the dr iver footwell while the veh icle is
moving. Objects can be come trapped under
the brake peda l and accelerator pedal caus ­
ing a loss of vehicle control.
Stowing luggage
Loading the luggage compartment
All luggage and other objects must be properly
stowed and secured in the luggage compart­
ment.

Loose items in the luggage compartment can
shift suddenly, changing vehicle handling charac­
teristics . Loose items can also increase the risk of
serious personal injury in a sudden veh icle ma­
neuver or in a collision .

partment.
.,. Always place and properly secure heavy items in
the luggage compartment as far forward as possible

Imp roper ly stored luggage or other i tems can
f ly through the vehicle causing serious per­
sonal injury in the event of hard braking or an
accident. To help reduce the risk of serio us
personal injury:
- Always put objects, for example, luggage or
other heavy items in the luggage compart­
ment.
-Always secure objects in the luggage com­
partment using the tie-down hooks and
suitable straps .
.&_ WARNING

Heavy loads will influence the way your vehi­
cle handles . To help reduce the risk of a loss
of cont rol lead ing to serious personal injury:
-Always keep in m ind when transpo rting
heavy objects, that a change in the center of
gravity can also cause changes in vehicle
handling :
- Always distribute the load as evenly as
poss ible.
- Place heavy objects as far forward in the
luggage compartment as possible.
- Never exceed the Gross Ax le Weight Rating
or the G ross Vehicle Weight Rating specif ied
on the safety compliance sticker on the left
door jamb. Exceeding permissible we ight
standards can cause the vehicle to slide and handle differently.

Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit
1 . Locate the stat em ent "THE
COMBINED WEIGHT OF OCCU­ PANTS AND CARGO SHOULD
NEVER EXCEED XXX KG OR X XX

3. Subtract the comb ined weight
of the driver and passengers

4. The resulting figure equals the
available amount of cargo and
luggage load ca pac ity. For ex­
ample, if the

Emergency situations
General
This chapter is intended for trained emergency crews and working personnel who have the nec­
essary tools and equipment to perform these
operations.
Starting by pushing or
towing

Vehicles with an automatic transmission can­
not be started by pushing or towing.
Starting with jumper
cables
If necessary, the engine con be started by con­
necting it to the battery of another vehicle .
If the engine should fail to start because of a dis­
charged or weak battery, the battery can be con­
nected to the battery of
another vehicle, using a
pair of jumper cables to start the engine.
Jumper cables
Use only jumper cables of sufficiently large cross
section
to carry the starter current safely. Refer
to the manufacturer's specifications.
Use only jumper cables with
insulated terminal
clamps which are distinctly marked :
plus(+) cable in most cases colored red
minus(-) cable
in most cases colored black .
A WARNING
Batteries contain electricity, acid, and gas.
Any of these can cause very serious or fatal in­
jury. Follow the instructions below for safe hand Ling of your vehicle's battery .
-Always shield your eyes and avoid leaning
over the battery whenever possible.
-A discharged battery can freeze at tempera­
tures just below 32 °F (0 °C). Before con­
necting a jumper cable, you must thaw the

frozen battery completely, otherwise it could explode .
- Do not allow battery acid to contact eyes or
skin. Flush any contacted area with water immediately.
- Improper use of a booster battery to start a
vehicle may cause an explosion.
- Vehicle batteries generate explosive gases.
Keep sparks, flame and lighted cigarettes
away from batteries.
- Do not try to jump start any vehicle with a
low acid level in the battery .
- The voltage of the booster battery must also
have a 12-volt rating. The capacity (Ah) of
the booster battery should not be lower
than that of the discharged battery. Use of
batteries of different voltage or substantial­
ly different "Ah" rating may cause an explo­
sion and personal injury .
- Never charge a frozen battery. Gas trapped in the ice may cause an explosion .
- Never charge or use a battery that has been
frozen . The battery case may have be weak­
ened .
- Use of batteries of different voltage or sub­ stantially different capacity (Ah) rating may
cause an explosion and injury. The capacity
(Ah) of the booster battery should not be
lower than that of the discharged battery.
- Before you check anything in the engine
compartment, always read and heed all

-Applying a higher voltage booster battery
will cause expensive damage to sensitive
electronic components, such as control
units, relays, radio, etc.
- There must be no electrical contact between
the vehicles as otherwise current could al­
ready start to flow as soon as the positive
(+) terminals are connected.

The discharged battery must be properly con-
nected to the vehicle's electrical system. .,..

Towing with a tow truck
General hints
Your Audi requires special handling for towing.
The fo llow ing informa tion is to be used by com­
mercial tow truck operators who know how to op­
era te the ir equipmen t sa fe ly .
- Never tow your Audi. Towing will cause dam­
age to the engine and transmi ssion.
- Never wrap the safety chains or winch cables
around the brake l ines .
- To prevent unnecessary damage, your Audi
must be transported with a flat bed truck.
- To load the vehicle on to the flat bed , use the
towing loop found in the vehicle tools and at­
tach to the front or rear anchorage

If t he t ow ing l oop is not tig htened unt il it
stops when installing, the threads may be pu lled out when towing the vehicle and that
could cause an accident .
