Releasingtheparking brake automatically

usual.

Emergencybrakingfunction
Youcan use theemergencybrakingfunctioninan
emergencysituation,orifthestandardbrakes
aremalfunctioningorthepedalisobstructed.

ate,thebrakingstops.
Pullingandholdingthe©)switchwhiledriving
thevehicleactivatestheemergencybrakingfunc-
tion.Thehydraulicbrakesystemwillbrakeall
fourwheels.Thebrakingeffectissimilartoheavy
braking>/\.
Toreducetheriskofactivatingtheemergency
brakingbymistake,awarningtone(buzzer)
soundswhenthe©)switchispulled.Emergency
brakingstopsassoonasthe©)switchisreleased
ortheacceleratorpedalispressed.

ZAWARNING
—Ifagearisengagedwhilethevehicleissta-
tionaryandtheengineisrunning,donot
presstheacceleratorpedalinadvertently.
Otherwise,thevehiclewillstarttomoveim-
mediatelyandthiscouldresultinanacci-
dent.
—Emergencybrakingshouldonlybeusedin
anemergency,whenthewhenthestandard
brakepedalismalfunctioningorobstructed.
Duringemergencybraking,yourvehiclewill
brakesimilartoheavybraking.ESC andthe
associatedcomponents(ABS,ASR,EDL)can-
notovercomethelawsofphysics.Incorners
andwhenroadorweatherconditionsare
bad,afullbrakeapplicationcancausethe
vehicletoskidortherearendtoswerve,
whichincreasestheriskofanaccident.
—Ifthepowersupplyfails,youcannotsetthe
parkingbrakeonceitisreleased.Inthis
case,parkthevehicleonlevelgroundand
secureitbyplacingtheselectorleverinthe
Pposition.SeeanauthorizedAudidealeror
authorizedAudiServiceFacilityforassis-
tance.
—Ifyouleavethevehicle,switchtheignition
offandtakethevehiclekeywithyou.This
appliesparticularlywhenchildrenremainin
thevehicle.Otherwisechildrencouldstart
theengine,releasetheparkingbrakeorop-
erateelectricalequipmentsuchaspower
windows,whichincreasestheriskofanacci-
dent.
—Nooneshouldremaininthevehiclewhenit
islocked-especiallychildren.Lockeddoors
makeitmoredifficultforemergencywork-
erstogetintothevehicle,whichputslives
atrisk.
