Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility. Have
this key de­
activated.
It is important to bring all keys with
you. If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insurance company.
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system . To do
this, select the
I MENU I button > Vehicle > left
control button
> Service & checks > Vehicle in ·
formation .
This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle .
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unautho rized use of
the vehicle .
Unde r certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a remote contro l key
from a different vehicle manufacturer on the key
chain .
Data in the master key
When driving , service and maintenance- relevant
data is continuously stored in your remote con­
trol key . Your Audi service adviso r can read out
this data and te ll you about the work your vehicle
needs. This applies also to veh icles with a con­
venience key *.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master
key. When the ignition is turned
off or when the
ve hicle is locked, persona l convenience settings
for the following systems are stored and as­
signed to the remote master key .
- Climate control system
- Parking aid*
- Active lane assist*
- Side ass ist*
- Drive select

Opening and closing
A WARNING
If you leave the vehicle, switch the ignition off
and take the vehicle key w ith you. This applies
particularly when children remain in the vehi­
cle . Otherwise the child ren cou ld start the en­
g ine or operate electrical equ ipment such as
power windows.
(D Note
Protect the remote control key against high
temperatures and direct sunl ight.
(D Tips
- The operation of the remote control key can
be temporarily disrupted by interference
from transmitters near the vehicle working
in the same frequency range (such as a cell
phone or radio equipment). Always check if
yo ur vehicle is locked!

Removing the mechanical key

~ If you press a button briefly, the LED blinks
once.
~ If you press and hold a button (conven ience
opening/closing), the LED blinks several times.
~ If the LED does not blink, the remote control
key battery is dead . The
Ill indicator light turns
on and the message

mote control key.
Replacing the remote control key battery
~ Press the release buttons (!)¢ fig. 14 and re­
move the mechanical key .
~ Press the release buttons@¢ fig. 15 on the
battery holder and pull the battery holder out
of the remote control key in the direction of the
arrow at the same time.
~ Insert the new battery w ith the"+" facing
down.

~ Slide the battery holder carefully into the re­
mote contro l key.
~ Insert the mechanical key .
@ For the sake of the environment
Discharged batteries must be disposed of us­
ing methods that will not harm the environ­
ment. Do not dispose of them in household
trash.
@ Tips
The rep lacement battery must meet the same
specifications as the original battery in the re­
mote control key.
Unlocking/locking by remote control

~ To unlock the vehicle, press the [§] button

~ To lock the vehicle, press the Ifill button once .
~ To open the luggage compartment lid, press
and hold the
l al button for at least one second.
~ To trigger the alarm, press the red IPANIC I but­
ton. The vehicle horn and emergency flashers
w ill activate.
~ To switch off the alarm, press the red !PANIC I
button again.
If you unlock the vehicle and do not open any of
the doors, the hood, or the luggage compart­
ment lid within 45 seconds, the vehicle automati­
ca lly locks again. This feature prevents the vehi ­
cle from being accidentally left unlocked over a
long period of time.
The settings in the Infotainment system deter ­
mine if the entire vehicle or o nly the driver's door

Correcting power w indow malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions .
.. Pull the power window sw itch up unt il the win­
dow is completely raised.
.. Release the sw itch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description

W ith the garage door opener (Homelin k), you
can activate systems such as the garage doors,
secur ity systems o r house lights from inside your
veh icle. Up to three remote control f unctions can
be programmed to the three buttons that are in ­
tegrated in the control unit above the rearview
mirror .
To be ab le to operate systems using the garage
door opener, the buttons in the contro l unit must
first be programmed .
A WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob­
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment . Peop le can be injured or prop­
erty can be damaged if str uck when closing .

Programming the transmitter

Programming the button: step 1 on the
control panel
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Press both of the outer buttons on the con­
trol unit
c:, page 30, fig. 25 unt il the yellow
LED @turns off and the green
LED (!) blinks.
This procedure clears the standard codes that
were set at the factory and does
not need to
be repeated again to program the other but­
tons .
3. Briefly press the button in the control panel
that you want to program.
4. Wait until the yellow LED@blinks. The pro­
gramming mode is active for five minutes.
S. Go in front of the vehicle with the original re­
mote control transmitter for the system that
you are programming to the control panel button.

6. Hold the remote control transmitter at the
vehicle radiator grille

7. Now press the remote control transmitter
until the turn signals on your vehicle blink.
This can take up to 30 seconds.
8 . If the emergency flashers blink three times,
the programming was successful. If the
emergency flashers only blink one time, the
five-minute time limit for programming has
expired or the programming was unsuccess­
ful. Repeat the programming procedure
starting from the third step or change the
distance to the radiator grille .

9. If the garage door or other systems do not
open with the Home link buttons even if the
programming was successful, the system
may use a ro lling code instead of a fixed
code. You must also then perform
rolling
code programming
c:, page 32 .
The other two buttons in the control panel can be
programmed using the instructions given above.
Start with step 3.
Deleting button programming
The programmed buttons cannot be deleted indi­
vidually. They must be deleted all at once. Repro­
gram the buttons if necessary.
"' Switch the ignit ion on.
"' Press both of the outer buttons on the control
unit until the yellow LED@turns off and the
green LED
0) blinks.
Reprogramming buttons
"' Switch the ignit ion on.
"'To reprogram an individual button, press the
desired button until the green LED
0) turns off
and the yellow LED@starts to blink (after ap­
proximately 20 seconds). Release the button immediately. The programming mode is active
for f ive minutes.

-The d istance needed between the remote
control transmitter and the Homelink mod­

on the system you are programming.
- Depending on the system model, you may need to release the button on the remote
cont rol transmitter while it is programming
and press it again. Hold every position you
try when programming for at least 15 sec­
onds before trying a new position. Keep an
eye on the vehicle turn signals while doing
this.

Rolling code programming
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opener (Homelink)
On some systems, programming a rolling code is
also necessary.

~ Press the button in the control un it that is al ­
ready programmed again and hold it down.
~ Watch the green LED (D ¢ page 30, fig. 25. If
the green LED blinks quickly, the system (such as a garage door) has a rolling code .
~ Program the rolling code as fo llows:
Acti vating the s ystem motor unit
~ Locate the programming button on the system
motor unit. The exact locat ion and color of the
button may vary depend ing on the brand .
~ Press the programm ing button on the system
motor un it (usually th is wi ll act ivate a "d isplay"
o n the moto r unit). You now have approximate­
ly
30 s econds to program the button in the
contro l pane l.
Programming the button in the control
pan el
~ Press and hold the previously programmed but ­
ton in the control pane l for two seconds.
~ T o comp lete ro lling code programming, press
and hold the button again for two seconds .
~ On some systems, the button might need to be
pressed a third time to end the programming
procedure.
After programming, the system should recognize
the signal and operate when the button in the
control panel is pressed. Now you may program
the other buttons as needed.
(D Tips
- The rolling code can be programmed more quick ly and more eas ily w ith the help of a
second person.
- If any diff icu lties occur when programming
the rolling code, it may be helpful to read
the system operating manual.

You can control the functions through the dial,
buttons in the dial and the buttons . Press the
buttons to turn the functions on or off. The LED i n a button w ill light up when the funct ion is
sw itched on.
Pressing the
IAU TO ! button and setting the tem­
pe rature to 72
°F (22 °() is recommended. The
automatic climate control system automatically
maintains a temperature once it has been set .
The a ir tempe rature coming from the vents, the
b lower speed, and the a ir dis tribution are a lso
automatically a djusted . In all heati ng mode func­
tions except
defrost, the blower only switches to
a higher speed once the engine coolant has reached a certain temperat ure.
~ Adjusting the blower
The blower speed can be adjusted in small inc re­
ments using the
dial (!). The b lower should a l­
ways run at a low setting to prevent the windows
from fogging and to ensure a continuous ex­
change of air ins ide the vehicle. You can adjust
the volume of a ir generated by the blower to your
preference. To have the blower regulated auto­
mat ically, press the
IAU TOI butto n.
IA/C l Switching cooling mode on and off
The cooling system is turned on and off w ith the
IA/C l button. The air is not coo led and humidity is
not removed when cooling mode is switched off.

This can cause fog on the w indows. Coo ling mode
switches off automatically when the outside tem­
perature is below zero.
The temperature can be adjusted with the con ­
trol@ .

IAUTO I Switching automatic mode on and off
The automatic mode is turned on using the
IAUTOI button. AUTO mode switches off once a
button in the climate cont rol system is pressed.
Automat ic mode maintains a constant tempera ­
ture inside the vehicle . Air temperature, airflow
and air distribution are controlled automatically.
Adjusting the air distribution
The air distribution can be adjusted w ith the con­
tro l@ . To have the air d istribu tion regulated au­
tomatica lly, press the
I AUTO l button.

To keep the front side windows from fogg ing up
i n damp weather, we recommend ope ning the
s ide a ir vents a nd tilting them to the side.

• Read y: the i ndicator light t urns on when the
system is ready for use. The system can now be
operated.
rl1 Not read y: the indicator light turns on if the
system is swi tched on but is inoperab le. Th is may
be due to the following reasons:
- There is no lane marker line .
- The relevant lane marker lines are not detected (for example, mark ings in a construction zone
o r because they are obstructed by snow, dirt,
water or lighting).
- The veh icle speed is below the activation speed
of approximately 40 mph (65 km/h) (the speed
may vary depending on yo ur country).
- The lane is too narrow or too wide.
- The curve is too narrow .
- The driver's hands are not on the steering
wheel.

- Make sure the camera's field of view

anything else . For informat ion on cleaning,

until the fog has clea red before switching the
active lane assist on aga in.
- T he system has been unable to detect the lanes
for an extended per iod of t ime due to road con­
ditions . Switch ac tive lane assist ba ck on w hen
the lines a re more visib le.
