The head restraint is automatically reposi‐
tioned when the shoulder support is adjusted.
Adjusting the side extensions
Fold forward for increased lateral support in
the resting position.
Removing The head restraints cannot be removed.
Rear head restraints
Correctly adjusted head restraint A correctly adjusted head restraint reduces the
risk of injury to cervical vertebrae in the event
of an accident.
Adjusting the head restraint
Adjust the head restraints of all occupied
seats properly; otherwise, there is an increased
risk of injury in an accident.◀
Height
Adjust the head restraint so that its center is
approximately at ear level.
Distance
Adjust the distance so that the head restraint
is as close as possible to the back of the head.

Mounts for the lower LATCH anchors The lower anchors may be used to attach the
CRS to the vehicle seat up to a combined child
and CRS weight of 65 lb/30 kg when the child
is restrained by the internal harnesses.
Properly engage the lower LATCH an‐
chors
Make sure that the lower LATCH anchors have
properly engaged and that the child restraint
system is resting snugly against the backrest;
otherwise, the degree of protection may be re‐
duced.◀
Before mounting the LATCH child restraint
system, pull the belt away from the child re‐
straint system.
The corresponding symbol shows the
mounts for the lower LATCH anchors.
Mounts for the lower LATCH anchors are lo‐
cated behind the seat cover between the back‐
rest and the seat cushion at the marked loca‐
tions.
Exposing the lower LATCH anchors1.Reach between the seat cushion and the
backrest.2.Detach the seat cover from the Velcro®
fastener.3.Pull the seat cover forward.
Without power rear seats: Assembly
of LATCH child restraint systems
1.Move the seat to its rearmost position.2.For better accessibility, tilt the backrest
back slightly.3.Fold the leather cover on the seat forward.4.Mount the child restraint system; refer to
the user's manual of the system.5.Make sure that both lower LATCH anchors
have properly engaged and that the child
restraint system is resting snugly against
the backrest.6.After mounting the system, move the
backrest back up slightly so that the child

Hints No loose objects in the car's interior
Do not stow any objects in the car's inte‐
rior without securing them; otherwise, they
may present a danger to occupants e.g., during
braking and evasive maneuvers.◀
Do not place anti-slip mats on the dash‐
board
Do not place anti-slip mats on the dashboard.
The mat materials could damage the dash‐
board.◀
Storage compartments The following storage compartments are avail‐

armrest between the front seats.

Press buttons next to the lock.
Locking the storage compartment
The storage compartment in the armrest can
be locked with an integrated key to separately
secure the tailgate, refer to page 43, e.g.
After the storage compartment is locked, the
remote control can be handed out without the
integrated key, refer to page 34, for instance at
a hotel.
This prevents access to the storage compart‐
ment and to the cargo area.
Connection for an external audio
device
An external audio device, e.g.,
an MP3 player, can be con‐
nected via the AUX-IN port or
the USB audio interface in the center armrest.
Rear
A storage compartment is located in the center
armrest between the seats.
