Cruise Control Light
The cruise control light is white
when the cruise control is on and
ready, and turns green when the
cruise control is set and active.
SeeCruise Control 0193.
Adaptive Cruise Control Light
This light is white when the Adaptive
Cruise Control (ACC, if equipped) is
on and ready, and turns green when
the ACC is set and active. See
Adaptive Cruise Control 0195.
Door Ajar Light
This light comes on when a door is
open or not securely latched. Before
driving, check that all doors are
properly closed.
Information Displays
Power Flows (eAssist)
To view the Power Flow screens in
the infotainment display, touch
[
on the Home page or on the
Application Tray on the top of the
infotainment display. Then touch
FLOW at the bottom of the display.
The Power Flow screens indicate
the current operating condition. The
screens show energy flow between
the engine, generator, and high
voltage battery. These components
will be highlighted when they are
active.

best average fuel economy. After
reset, the best value displays“-,-”
until the selected distance has been
traveled.
The display provides information on
how current driving behavior affects
the running average and how well
recent driving compares to the best
that has been achieved for the
selected distance.
Oil Life : Displays an estimate of
the oil's remaining useful life.
If REMAINING OIL LIFE 99% is
displayed, that means 99% of the
current oil life remains.
When the remaining oil life is low,
the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
message will appear on the display.
The oil should be changed as soon
as possible. See Engine Oil0234.
In addition to the engine oil life
system monitoring the oil life,
additional maintenance is
recommended. See Maintenance
Schedule 0311.
The Oil Life display must be reset
after each oil change. It will not
reset itself. Do not reset the Oil Life
display accidentally at any time other than when the oil has just
been changed. It cannot be reset
accurately until the next oil change.
To reset the engine oil life system,
press and hold
Vfor several
seconds while the Oil Life display is
active. See Engine Oil Life System
0 237.
Tire Pressure : Displays the
approximate pressures of all four
tires. Tire pressure is displayed in
either kilopascal (kPa) or in pounds
per square inch (psi). If the pressure
is low, the value for that tire is
shown in amber.

Timer : To start the timer, press
V
while this display is active. The
display will show the amount of time
that has passed since the timer was
last reset. To stop the timer, press
V
briefly while this display is active
and the timer is running. To reset
the timer to zero, press and hold
V
while this display is active. Drive Cycle Summary (eAssist) :
Displays the distance traveled and
the fuel economy for that trip.
Follow Distance/Gap Setting :
The
current follow time to the vehicle
ahead is displayed as a time value
on this page when Adaptive Cruise
Control (ACC) is not engaged.
When ACC has been engaged, the
Following Distance Indicator page
switches to the Gap Setting page.
This page shows the current gap
setting.

Top Consumers : Shows a list of
the features that are currently
impacting the fuel economy, in order
from highest to lowest. If a feature is
turned off, it will be removed from
the list.
Economy Trend : Displays history
of the Average Fuel Economy from
the last 50 km (30 miles). Each bar
represents about 5 km (3 miles) of
driving. The fuel economy will range
from 0 –15 L/100 km (0 –50 mpg).
During driving the bars will shift to

Some vehicle messages or alerts
displayed in the HUD may be
cleared by using the steering wheel
controls. SeeVehicle Messages
0 132.
The HUD control is to the left of the
steering wheel.
To adjust the HUD image:
1. Adjust the driver seat to a comfortable position.
2. Start the engine.
3. Use the following settings to adjust the HUD.
$:Press down or lift up to center
the HUD image. The HUD image
can only be adjusted up and down,
not side to side.
!: Press to select the display
view. Each press will change the
display view.
D: Lift up and hold to brighten the
display. Press down and hold to dim
the display. Hold down to turn the
display off.
The HUD image will automatically
dim and brighten to compensate for
outside lighting. The HUD
brightness control can also be
adjusted as needed.
The HUD image can temporarily
light up depending on the angle and
position of sunlight on the HUD
display. This is normal.
Polarized sunglasses could make
the HUD image harder to see.
HUD Views
There are four views in the HUD.
Some vehicle information and
vehicle messages or alerts may be
displayed in any view.
Metric
English
Speed View : This display gives the
speedometer reading (in English or
metric units), Adaptive Cruise
Control speed, Lane Departure
Warning, and vehicle ahead
indicator. Some information only
appears on vehicles that have these
features, and when they are active.

If You Cannot See the HUD
Image When the Ignition Is On
Check that:
.Nothing is covering the
HUD lens.
. HUD brightness setting is not
too dim or too bright.
. HUD is adjusted to the proper
height.
. Polarized sunglasses are
not worn.
. Windshield and HUD lens are
clean.
If the HUD image is not correct,
contact your dealer.
The windshield is part of the HUD
system. See Windshield
Replacement 0249.
Vehicle Messages
Messages displayed on the DIC
indicate the status of the vehicle or
some action that may be needed to
correct a condition. Multiple
messages may appear one after
another.
The messages that do not require
immediate action can be
acknowledged and cleared by
pressing
V. The messages that
require immediate action cannot be
cleared until that action is
performed.
All messages should be taken
seriously; clearing the message
does not correct the problem.
If a SERVICE message appears,
see your dealer.
Follow the instructions given in the
messages. The system displays
messages regarding the following
topics:

Engine Power Messages
ENGINE/PROPULSION POWER
IS REDUCED
This message displays when the
vehicle's propulsion power is
reduced. Reduced propulsion power
can affect the vehicle's ability to
accelerate. If this message is on,
but there is no observed reduction
in performance, proceed to your
destination. The performance may

.Extended Hill Start Assist
Auto Memory Recall
This feature automatically recalls
the current driver ’s previously stored
1 or 2 button positions when the
ignition is turned on. See Memory
Seats 055.
Select Off or On.
Easy Exit Options
This feature automatically recalls
the previously stored Exit button
position when exiting the vehicle.
See Memory Seats 055.
Select Off or On.
Chime Volume
This allows the selection of the
chime volume level.
Touch + or −to adjust the volume.
Reverse Tilt Mirror
When on, both the driver and
passenger outside mirrors will tilt
downward when the vehicle is
shifted to R (Reverse) to improve
visibility of the ground near the rear
wheels. They will return to their previous driving position when the
vehicle is shifted out of R (Reverse)
or the engine is turned off.
Select Off, On - Driver and
Passenger, On - Driver, or On -
Passenger.
Extended Hill Start Assist
This allows the duration of the Hill
Start Assist to be changed.
Select Extended Hold or
Standard Hold.
Lighting
Select and the following may be
displayed:

. Exit Lighting
Vehicle Locator Lights
This feature will flash the exterior
lamps when
Kon the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is
pressed to locate the vehicle.
Select Off or On. Exit Lighting
This allows the selection of how
long the exterior lamps stay on
when leaving the vehicle when it is
dark outside.
Select Off, 30 Seconds, 60
Seconds, or 120 Seconds.
Power Door Locks
Select and the following may be
displayed:
.
Unlocked Door Anti Lock Out
. Auto Door Unlock
. Delayed Door Lock
Unlocked Door Anti Lock Out
When on, this feature will keep the
driver door from locking when the
door is open. If Off is selected, the
Delayed Door Lock menu will be
available.
Select Off or On.
Auto Door Unlock
This allows selection of which of the
doors will automatically unlock when
the vehicle is shifted into P (Park).
Select Off, All Doors, or Driver Door.

voltage move up or down. This is
normal. If there is a problem, an
alert will be displayed.
The battery can be discharged at
idle if the electrical loads are very
high. This is true for all vehicles.
This is because the generator
(alternator) may not be spinning fast
enough at idle to produce all of the
power needed for very high
electrical loads.
A high electrical load occurs when
several of the following are on, such
as: headlamps, high beams, rear
window defogger, climate control fan
at high speed, heated seats, engine
cooling fans, trailer loads, and loads
plugged into accessory power
outlets.
EPM works to prevent excessive
discharge of the battery. It does this
by balancing the generator's output
and the vehicle's electrical needs.
It can increase engine idle speed to
generate more power whenever
needed. It can temporarily reduce
the power demands of some
accessories.Normally, these actions occur in
steps or levels, without being
noticeable. In rare cases at the
highest levels of corrective action,
this action may be noticeable to the
driver. If so, a DIC message might
be displayed and it is recommended
that the driver reduce the electrical
loads as much as possible.
Battery Power Protection
The battery saver feature is
designed to protect the vehicle's
battery.
If the exterior lamps or any interior
lamp is left on and the ignition is
turned off, the battery rundown
protection system automatically
turns the lamp off after about
10 minutes.
Exterior Lighting Battery
Saver
The exterior lamps turn off about
10 minutes after the ignition is
turned off, if the parking lamps or
headlamps have been manually left
on. This protects against draining
the battery. To restart the 10-minute
timer, turn the exterior lamp control
to the off position and then back to
the parking lamp or headlamp
position.
To keep the lamps on for more than
10 minutes, the ignition must be on
or in ACC/ACCESSORY.

To change the current mode, select
one or more of the following:
6:Air is directed to the floor
outlets, with some air to the
windshield and side windows.
Y: Air is directed to the instrument
panel outlets.
X: Clears the windows of fog or
moisture. Air is directed to the
windshield.
1MAX : Air is directed to the
windshield, the fan runs at a higher
speed, and the temperature of the
air is increased if not already at
maximum. This mode overrides the
previous mode selected and clears
fog or frost from the windshield
more quickly. When the control is
pressed again, the system returns
to the previous mode setting and
fan speed.
For best results, clear all snow and
ice from the windshield before
defrosting.
For eAssist vehicles that have the
auto defog feature, Auto Stops can
occur in defrost mode. In this mode, the Auto Stops are shorter and less
frequent than other air delivery
modes to prevent window fogging.
A/C (Air Conditioning) :
Touch A/C
on the climate control display to
cycle between the MAX, ECO, and
OFF modes. The MAX, ECO or OFF
indicator will appear on the display.
If the fan is turned off, the air
conditioner will not run and the
indicator light will turn off.
Touch AUTO to return to automatic
operation and the air conditioner
runs automatically as needed. The
A/C will return to ECO a/c operation.
For MAX a/c, touch A/C. Auto Stops
will occur less frequently, be shorter,
and will not occur in extremely warm
weather.
For ECO a/c, touch A/C again. This
setting balances fuel economy and
air conditioning comfort. In warm
weather conditions, Auto Stops may
occur more frequently, last longer,
and the vehicle interior may be
warmer during Auto Stops as
compared to the MAX A/C setting.
This setting allows higher humidity inside the vehicle and window
fogging may occur before the
engine restarts.
@:
Press to turn on recirculation.
An indicator light comes on. Air is
recirculated to quickly cool the
inside of the vehicle or to reduce the
entry of outside air and odors.
If selected during cool or cold
weather, the windshield and
windows may fog. Turn off
recirculation to help clear the
windshield and windows.
If equipped, the Air Quality Sensor
may operate the recirculation mode
automatically. See “Climate and Air
Quality” underVehicle
Personalization 0133.
Auto Defog : If equipped, the
climate control system may have a
sensor to automatically detect high
humidity inside the vehicle. When
high humidity is detected, the
climate control system may adjust to
outside air supply and turn on the
air conditioner. The fan speed may
slightly increase to help prevent
fogging. If the climate control
system does not detect possible

window fogging, it returns to normal
operation. For eAssist vehicles,
there may be shorter and less
frequent Auto Stops when auto
defog is in use.
To turn Auto Defog off or on, see
“Climate and Air Quality”under
Vehicle Personalization 0133.
Ionizer : If equipped with an ionizer,
this feature helps to clean the air
inside the vehicle and remove
contaminants; such as pollen,
odors, and dust. If the climate
control system is on and the ionizer
is enabled, the ionizer status
indicator will be lit on the climate
control display. To turn the ionizer
on or off, see “Climate and Air
Quality” underVehicle
Personalization 0133.
Rear Window Defogger
K:Press to turn the rear window
defogger on or off. An indicator light
on the control comes on to show
that the rear window defogger is on.
The rear window defogger only
works when the engine is running.
It turns off when the ignition is
turned off or in ACC/ACCESSORY. The rear window defogger can be
set to automatic operation. See
“Climate and Air Quality”
under
Vehicle Personalization 0133.
When Auto Rear Defog is selected,
the rear window defogger turns on
automatically when the interior
temperature is cold and the outside
temperature is about 4 °C (40 °F)
and below. The auto rear defogger
turns off automatically after about
10 minutes, or after five minutes if
the outside temperature is not
as cold.
For eAssist vehicles, auto rear
defog will only run during a remote
start and the feature is not available
in the Vehicle Personalization menu.
The upper gridlines on the rear
window are antenna lines and are
not intended to heat when the
defogger is activated.
If the vehicle is equipped with
heated outside mirrors, they turn on
when the rear window defogger
control is on and help to clear fog or
frost from the surface of the mirror.

Caution
Do not try to clear frost or other
material from the inside of the
front windshield and rear window
with a razor blade or anything
else that is sharp. This may
damage the rear window
defogger grid and affect the
radio's ability to pick up stations
clearly. The repairs would not be
covered by the vehicle warranty.
Heated and Ventilated Seats

Remote Start Climate Control

Defensive Driving
Defensive driving means“always
expect the unexpected.” The first
step in driving defensively is to wear
the seat belt. See Seat Belts062.
. Assume that other road users
(pedestrians, bicyclists, and
other drivers) are going to be
careless and make mistakes.
Anticipate what they might do
and be ready.
. Allow enough following distance
between you and the driver in
front of you.
. Focus on the task of driving.
Drunk Driving
Death and injury associated with
drinking and driving is a global
tragedy.
{Warning
Drinking and then driving is very
dangerous. Your reflexes,
perceptions, attentiveness, and
judgment can be affected by even
a small amount of alcohol. You
can have a serious —or even
fatal —collision if you drive after
drinking.
Do not drink and drive or ride with
a driver who has been drinking.
Ride home in a cab; or if you are
with a group, designate a driver
who will not drink.
Control of a Vehicle
Braking, steering, and accelerating
are important factors in helping to
control a vehicle while driving.
Braking
Braking action involves perception
time and reaction time. Deciding to
push the brake pedal is perception
time. Actually doing it is
reaction time. Average driver reaction time is
about three-quarters of a second. In
that time, a vehicle moving at
100 km/h (60 mph) travels 20 m
(66 ft), which could be a lot of
distance in an emergency.
Helpful braking tips to keep in mind
include:
.
Keep enough distance between
you and the vehicle in front
of you.
. Avoid needless heavy braking.
. Keep pace with traffic.
If the engine ever stops while the
vehicle is being driven, brake
normally but do not pump the
brakes. Doing so could make the
pedal harder to push down. If the
engine stops, there will be some
power brake assist but it will be
used when the brake is applied.
Once the power assist is used up, it
can take longer to stop and the
brake pedal will be harder to push.
