Press7again or start the vehicle to
cancel the panic alarm.
X: Press twice quickly to release
the trunk.
Press the key release button near
the bottom of the transmitter to
remove the key. The key can be
used for the driver door and the
glove box.

Remote Vehicle Start
If equipped with this feature, the
engine can be started from outside
of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the
RKE transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash. 3. Press the brake pedal and select
the ON/RUN/START ignition
mode to drive the vehicle.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do any of
the following:
.Press and hold/until the
parking lamps turn off.
.Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
.Turn the vehicle on and then off.

page 2-9.
Door Locks
To lock or unlock a door manually:
.From the outside, if the vehicle
is equipped with Keyless
Access, press the button on the
door handle when the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter
is within range. See Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) System
Operation on page 2-2.
.Use the key in the front driver
door. The key cylinder is
covered by a cap. See Door
Locks on page 2-10.
.From the inside, to lock a rear
door, if equipped, push down on
the door lock knob on top of the
door. To unlock a door, pull once
on the door handle to unlock it,
and again to open it.

This key, inside the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter, is used for
the driver door and glove box.To remove the key, press the button
near the bottom of the transmitter,
and pull the key out. Never pull the
key out without pressing the button.
See your dealer if a new key is
needed.
Contact Roadside Service if locked
out of the vehicle. See
Roadside
Service on page 13-5.
With an active OnStar subscription,
an OnStar Advisor may remotely
unlock the vehicle. See OnStar
Overview on page 14-1.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System

page 13-12.
If there is a decrease in the RKE
operating range:
.Check the distance. The
transmitter may be too far from
the vehicle.
.Check the location. Other
vehicles or objects may be
blocking the signal.
.Check the transmitter's battery.
See “Battery Replacement” later
in this section.
.If the transmitter is still not
working correctly, see your
dealer or a qualified technician
for service.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation
The RKE transmitter functions may
work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from
the vehicle.
Keep in mind that other conditions,
such as those previously stated, can
impact the performance of the
transmitter.

There is an airbag readiness light
on the instrument cluster, which
shows the airbag symbol. The
system checks the airbag electrical
system for malfunctions. The light
tells you if there is an electrical
problem. SeeAirbag Readiness
Light on page 5-14.
Where Are the Airbags?
The driver frontal airbag is in the
center of the steering wheel.
The front outboard passenger
frontal airbag is in the passenger
side instrument panel.
The driver knee airbag is below the
steering column. The front outboard
passenger knee airbag is below the
glove box.

Do not store heavy or sharp
objects in storage compartments.
In a crash, these objects may
cause the cover to open and
could result in injury.
Instrument Panel Storage
To access, press on the cover and
release. There is an accessory
power outlet inside. SeePower
Outlets on page 5-7.
If equipped with storage behind the
climate control system, touch the
bottom of the climate control system
panel until the door automatically
starts to open. There is a USB port
inside. See USB Port on page 7-15.
Keep the storage area door closed
while driving.

Touch the bottom of the climate
control system panel again until the
door automatically starts to close.
Glove Box
To open the glove box, lift up on the
lever. Use the key to lock and
unlock it. The glove box may have a
compact disc player inside.
Armrest Storage
Front ArmrestPress the button and lift to access
the storage area. There is a USB
port, SD card reader, and if
equipped, an auxiliary jack inside.

Rear Armrest
Pull the armrest down and lift the
cover to access the storage area.

Cargo Tie-Downs
The cargo tie-downs can be used to
secure small loads inside the trunk.
