VEHICLE CARE 359
To protect the wiper motor from
overheating, the wipers may slow
down when the windshield is dry for a
long period of time. If a period of dry
operation, or little moisture, exceeds
10 minutes, the wipers may switch to
intermittent operation, and remain
there. When moisture is again
detected on the windshield, wiper
operation will return to the operator
selected speed.
Although the circuit is protected from
electrical overload, overload due to
heavy snow or ice may cause wiper
linkage damage. Always clear ice and
heavy snow from the windshield
before using the windshield wipers.
If the overload is caused by an
electrical problem and not snow or
ice, be sure to get it fixed.Fuses and Circuit Breakers
The wiring circuits in the vehicle are
protected from short circuits by a
combination of fuses and circuit
breakers. This greatly reduces the
chance of damage caused by electrical
problems.
{Danger
Fuses and circuit breakers are
marked with their ampere rating.
Do not exceed the
specified amperage rating when
replacing fuses and circuit breakers.
Use of an oversized fuse or circuit
breaker can result in a vehicle fire.
You and others could be seriously
injured or killed.
{Warning
Installation or use of fuses that do
not meet GM’s original fuse
specifications is dangerous. The
fuses could fail, and result in a fire.
You or others could be injured or
killed, and the vehicle could be
damaged.
See Accessories and Modifications
0 328 and
General Information 0328.
To check or replace a blown fuse, see
Electrical System Overload 0357.

Normal
(1) Vehicles with different size front
and rear tires do not have tire
rotation. See Tire Rotation0380.
(2) Or every two years, whichever
comes first. More frequent passenger
compartment air filter replacement
may be needed if driving in areas with
heavy traffic, poor air quality, high
dust levels, or environmental
allergens. Passenger compartment air
filter replacement may also be needed
if there is reduced airf low, window
fogging, or odors. Your GM dealer can
help determine when to replace the
filter. (3)
Or every four years, whichever
comes first. If driving in dusty
conditions, inspect the filter at each
oil change or more often as needed.
See Engine Air Cleaner/Filter 0341.
(4) Do not directly power wash the
transfer case and/or front/rear axle
output seals. High pressure water can
overcome the seals and contaminate
the transfer case fluid. Contaminated
fluid will decrease the life of the
transfer case and/or axles and should
be replaced.
(5) Or every five years, whichever
comes first. See Cooling System0343. (6)
Or every 10 years, whichever
comes first. Inspect for fraying,
excessive cracking, or damage; replace,
if needed.
(7) Replace brake fluid every five
years. See Brake Fluid 0352.
(8) Or every 12 months, whichever
comes first. See Wiper Blade
Replacement 0355.
(9) Or every 10 years, whichever
comes first. See Gas Strut(s)0356.
(10) Replace air conditioning
desiccant every seven years.
