L
’ CAUTION:
It can be dangerous to leave your vehicle .with the engine I-
running. Your vehicle could move suddenly if.the shift lever is
noi Eully in “P” (Park) with the parking brake firmly set. And, if
I- you leave the vehicle with the engine running, it could overhe\
at
and even catch fire.
You or others could be injured. Don’t leave
your vehicle with the engine running unless you have to.
If you have to leave your vehicle with the engine running, be sure your
vehicle is in “P” (Park) and your parking brake is firmly set before you
leave it. After you’ve moved the shift lever into the “P” (Park) position,
hold the regular brake pedal down. Then, see
if you can move the shift
lever away from “P” (Park) without first pulling it toward you. If you can,
it means that the shift lever wasn’t fully locked into “P” (Park).
SHIFTING OUT OF “P9’ (PARK)
Your Cadillac has a brake-transaxle shift interlock. You have to fully
apply your regular brake before you can shift from “P” (Park) when the
ignition is in the “Run” position. See “Automatic Transaxle”
in the Index.
If you cannot shift out
of “P” (Park), ease pressure on the shift lever --
push the shift lever all the way into “P” (Park) you maintain brake
application. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want.
If you ever
hold the brake pedal down but still can’t shift out of “P” (Park), try this:
1. Turn the key to “Off.” Open and close the driver’s door to turn off the
Retained Accessory Power feature.
2. Apply and hold the brake until the end of Step 4.
3. Shift to “N” (Neutral).
4. Start the vehicle and then shift to the drive gear you want.
5. Have the vehicle fixed as soon as you can.

WMING LIGHTS
This section describes the warning lights that are on your vehicle. The
pictures will help you locate them.
Warning lights can signal that something is wrong before it becomes
serious enough to cause an expensive repair or replacement. Paying
attention to your warning lights could also save you or others from injury.
Warning lights
go on when there may be or is a problem with one of your
vehicle’s functions.
As you will see in the details on the next few pages,
some warning lights come on briefly when you turn the ignition key just to
let you know they’re working. If you are familiar with this section, you
should not be alarmed when this happens.
When one
of the warning lights comes on and stays on when you are
driving, check the section that tells you what to do about it. Please follow
the manual’s advice. Waiting to do repairs can be costly
-- and even
dangerous.
So please get to know your warning lights. They’re a big help.
Your vehicle may also have a driver information system that works along
with the warning lights. See “Driver Information System” in the Index.
Brake System Warning Light
Your Cadillac’s
hydraulic brake system
is divided into
two
parts. If one part isn’t
working, the other part
can still work and stop
you. For good braking,
though, you need both
parts working
well.

something goes wrong.

your engine properly. You could be low on oil,
or you might have some
other oil problem.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine According to the American Medical Association, a 180-pound (82 kg)
person who drinks three 12-ounce
(355 ml) bottles of beer in an hour will
end up with a BAC of about 0.06 percent. The person would reach the
same
BAC by drinking three 4-ounce (120 ml) glasses of wine or three
mixed drinks
if each had 1-1/2 ounces (45 ml) of a liquor like whiskey, gin
1 or vodka.
It’s the amount
of alcohol that counts. For example, if the same person
drank three double martinis
(3 ounces or 90 ml of liquor each) within an
hour, the person’s
BAC would be close to 0.12 percent. A person who
consumes
food just before or during drinking will have a slightly lower
BAC level.
