control the temperature
of air for hisher own zone. The
passenger
can select a four degree warmer or cooler
temperature from the driver's setting. To turn the system
on, press the PASS/TEMP button. Press the up arrow to
increase the temperature and press the down arrow to
decrease the climate setting. Pressing the
OFF button
will
turn off the dual-zone function.
The outside temperature is always displayed when your
vehicle is running. You can change it from Fahrenheit to
Celsius by pressing the
INFO button (above the radio)
until ENGLHSH/METRIC RESET displays. Once
displayed, press the
INFO RESET button to select.
The outside temperature sensor
is located near the front
grille.
The sensor can be affected by road or engine heat
dnring idling, slow driving or when the engine is first
started after
a short trip. In order to ensure proper
automatic climate control operation,
the outside air
temperature display may not update as quickly
as
expected. This is to allow the air surrounding the outside
temperature sensor to be as close to
the actual outside
conditions as possible. This is determined by how much
time has elapsed since the vehicle has been turned
off
and by vehicle speed. Press this button to deliver
air through the floor, middle
or windshield outlets. The system will
stay in the selected
mode
until the MODE button is pushed again. Press the
up or down ~QW to cycle through the available modes.
Automatic
When the system is set for automatic operation, sensors
will control the
air delivery mode. Air will come from
the floor, middle or windshield outlets. The fan speed
will
vary as the system maintains the selected
temperature setting.
Be careful not to put anything over the
solar sensor
located in the middle
of the instrument panel near the
windshield. This sensor is used by the automatic system
to regulate temperature.
To find your comfort zone, start with the 75°F (24°C)
setting and allow about 20 minutes for the system to
regulate. Turn the
TEMP/AUTO knob to adjust the
temperature if necessary. If you' choose 60 OF ( 16 " C),
the system will remain at that maximum cooling setting
and will not regulate fan speed.
If you choose the
temperature of
90°F (32"C), the system will remain at
that maximum heating setting and will not regulate fan
speed. Choosing either maximum setting will not cause
the system to
heat or cool any faster.

this feature, your vehicle will recall the latest
climate control settings as adjusted the last time your
vehicle was operated.
This feature allows two different drivers-
to store and recall
their own climate control
settings. The settings recalled by the climate control
system
are determined by which RKE transmitter (“ 1 ”
or “2”) was used to enter the vehicle. The number on the.
back of the
RKE transmitter corresponds to driver 1 or
to driver
2. After the unlock button is pressed on the
RKE transmitter or the ignition key is placed in the
ignition, the climate control settings will automatically
adjust to where’ they were last set. The settings can
also
be changkd by briefly pressing the memory seat buttons
1 or 2 located on the driver’s door.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine If you drive regularly in steep country, or if you’re
planning to visit there, here are some tips that can
make
your trips safer and more enjoyable.
Keep your vehicle
in good shape. Check all fluid
levels and also the brakes, tires, cooling system
and transaxle. These parts can work hard on
mountain roads.
Know how to
go down hills. The most important
thing to know
is this: let your engine do some of the
slowing down. Shift to a lower gear when you go
down a steep or long hill.
~ ~ ~~ -~ ~
Coasting downhill in NEUTRAL (N) or with the
ignition off is dangerous. Your brakes will have to
do dl the work of slowing down. They codd get so
hot that they woddn9t work well. You would then
have poor braking QF even none going down a hill.
You ~dd crash. Always have your engine running
Saaaca your vehicle in gear when you go doMi.
A CAUTION:
you don’t shift down, your brakes could get so
hot that they wouldn’t work well. You would then
have
poor braking or even none going down a hu.
You could crash. Shift down to let your engine
mist
your brakes on a steep downhill slope.
Know how to go uphill. You may want to shift down
to a lower gear. The lower gears help cool your engine
and transaxle, and you
can climb the hill better.
Stay
in your own lane when driving on two-lane
roads in hills OF mountains. Don’t swing wide or cut
across the center
of the road. Drive at speeds that let
you stay
in your own lane.
As you go over the top of a hill, be alert. There could be
something in your lane, like a stalled car or an accident.
You may see highway signs on mountains that warn of
special problems. Examples are Bong grades, passing or
no-passing zones, a falling rocks area or winding
roads. Be
dert to these and take appropriate action.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine You really should not park your vehicle, with a trailer
attached,
on a hill. If something goes wrong, your rig
could start
to move. People can be injured, and both
your vehicle and the trailer can be damaged.
But if
you ever have to park your rig on a hill, here’s
how to do it:
1. Apply your regular brakes, but do not shift into
PARK (P).
2. Have someone place chocks under the trailer wheels.
3. When the wheel chocks are in place, release the
regular brakes until
the chocks absorb the load.
PARK (P) firmly and apply your parking brake.
4. Reapply the regular brakes. Then shift into
Release the regular brakes.
1. Apply your regular brakes and hold the pedal down
while you:
Start your engine;
e Shift into a gear; and
Be sure the parking brake has released.
2. Let up on the brake pedal.
3. Drive slowly until the trailer is clear of the chocks.
4. Stop and have someone pick up and store the chocks.
Your vehicle will need service
more often when you’re
pulling
a trailer. See the Maintenance Schedule for more
on this. Things that are especially important in trailer
operation are automatic transaxle fluid (don’t overfill),
engine oil, belt, cooling system and brake adjustment.
Each of these is covered in this manual, and
the Index
will help
you find them quickly. If you’re trailering, it’s
a good idea to review these sections before you start
your trip.
Check periodically to see that all hitch nuts
and bolts
are tight.
Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine If it isn’t, the coolant level should be indicated by a
CHECK COOLANT LEVEL message on the Driver
Information Center.
If it is, you may have a leak in the
radiator hoses, heater hoses, radiator, water
pump or
somewhere else in
the cooling system.
Heater and radiatoi hoses, and.other engine
parts, can be very hot. Don’t touch them. If you
do, you can be burned.
.Don’t run sthe engine if-there is a leak. If you
the engine,.+it could loge all coolant. That could
cause an engine fire, and sou could be burned.
Get any leak Pled before you drive ,. the vehicle. ’’-
NOTICE:
Engine damage if you keep running your engine
without coolant isn’t covered by your warranty.
See “Overheated Engine Protection Operating
Mode” in the Index.
If there seems to be no leak, with the engine on, check to
see if the electric engine fans are running. If the engine
is overheating, both fans should be running. If they
aren’t, your vehicle needs service.
Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine If you haven’t found a problem yet, but the coolant level
isn’t
at the proper level (2.5 inches (6.4 cm) below the
base
of the fill neck), add a 50/50 mixture of clean,
water (preferably distilled) and DEX-COOL@ coolant at
the coolant
surge tank, but be sure the cooling system,
including the coolant surge tank pressure cap,
is cool
before you do it. (See “Engine Coolant” in the Index for
more information.)
Steam and scalding liquids from a hot cooling
system can blow out and burn YOU badly. They
1 are under pressure, and if you turn the coolant
~ surge tank pressure cap -- even a little -- they
can come out at high speed. Never turn the cap
when the cooling system, including the coolant
surge
tank pressure cap, is hot. Wait for the
cooling system and coolant surge tank pressure
cap
to coo% if you ever have to turn the
pressure cap.
