Rear Seat Armrest
The rear seat has an armrest in the
center of the seatback. Lower the
armrest to access the cupholders.
To fold, lift the armrest up and push it
rearward until it is flush with the
seatback.
The armrest may also have controls
for the rear window sunshade and/or
the infotainment system. See the
infotainment manual andRear
Window Sunshade 049.
Heated Rear Seats
{Warning
If temperature change or pain to
the skin cannot be felt, the seat
heater may cause burns. See the
Warning under Heated and
Ventilated Front Seats 062.
Rear Heated Seat Buttons with Rear
Climate Controls Shown, Base Similar
If available, the buttons are on the
rear of the center console. With the vehicle started, press
Mor
Lto heat the left or right outboard
seat cushion and seatback. On
vehicles without rear climate controls,
an indicator light on the button will
turn on when the heated seat is on.
On vehicles with rear climate controls,

72 SEATS AND RESTRAINTS
To unlatch the belt, push the button
on the buckle. The belt should return
to its stowed position.
Always stow the seat belt slowly. If the
seat belt webbing returns quickly to
the stowed position, the retractor may
lock and cannot be pulled out. If this
happens, pull the seat belt straight out
firmly to unlock the webbing, and
then release it. If the webbing is still
locked in the retractor, see your
dealer.
Before a door is closed, be sure the
seat belt is out of the way. If a door is
slammed against a seat belt, damage
can occur to both the seat belt and
the vehicle.
Shoulder Belt Height Adjuster
The vehicle has a shoulder belt height
adjuster for the driver and front
outboard passenger seating positions.
Adjust the height so the shoulder
portion of the belt is on the shoulder
and not falling off of it. The belt
should be close to, but not contacting,
the neck. Improper shoulder belt
height adjustment could reduce theeffectiveness of the seat belt in a
crash. See
How to Wear Seat Belts
Properly 069.
Push down on the release button and
move the height adjuster to the
desired position. The adjuster can be
moved up by pushing the slide/
trim up.
After the adjuster is set to the desired
position, try to move it down without
pushing the release button to make
sure it has locked into position.
Seat Belt Pretensioners
This vehicle has seat belt
pretensioners for front outboard
occupants. Although the seat belt
pretensioners cannot be seen, they are
part of the seat belt assembly. They
can help tighten the seat belts during
the early stages of a moderate to
severe frontal, near frontal, or rear
crash if the threshold conditions for
pretensioner activation are met. Seat
belt pretensioners can also help
tighten the seat belts in a side crash
or a rollover event.
Pretensioners work only once. If the
pretensioners activate in a crash, the
pretensioners and probably other
parts of the vehicle’s seat belt system
will need to be replaced. See Replacing
Seat Belt System Parts after a Crash
0 74.
Do not sit on the outboard seat belt
while entering or exiting the vehicle or
at any time while sitting in the seat.
Sitting on the seat belt can damage
the webbing and hardware.

SEATS AND RESTRAINTS 91
{Warning
A young child's hip bones are still
so small that the vehicle's regular
seat belt may not remain low on
the hip bones, as it should. Instead,
it may settle up around the child's
abdomen. In a crash, the belt would
apply force on a body area that is
unprotected by any bony structure.
This alone could cause serious or
fatal injuries. To reduce the risk of
serious or fatal injuries during a
crash, young children should always
be secured in appropriate child
restraints.
Child Restraint Systems
Rear-Facing Infant Restraint
A rear-facing child restraint provides
restraint with the seating surface
against the back of the infant.
The harness system holds the infant
in place and, in a crash, acts to keep
the infant positioned in the restraint.
Forward-Facing Child Restraint
A forward-facing child restraint
provides restraint for the child's body
with the harness.

Warning (Continued)
cause the anchor or attachment to
come loose or even break during a
crash. A child or others could be
injured.
{Warning
Children can be seriously injured or
strangled if a shoulder belt is
wrapped around their neck. The
shoulder belt can tighten but
cannot be loosened if it is locked.
The shoulder belt locks when it is
pulled all the way out of the
retractor. It unlocks when the
shoulder belt is allowed to go all
the way back into the retractor, but
it cannot do this if it is wrapped
around a child’s neck. If the
shoulder belt is locked and
tightened around a child’s neck, the
only way to loosen the belt is to
cut it.(Continued)
Warning (Continued)
Buckle any unused seat belts
behind the child restraint so
children cannot reach them. Pull
the shoulder belt all the way out of
the retractor to set the lock, and
tighten the belt behind the child
restraint after the child restraint
has been installed.
Caution
Do not let the LATCH attachments
rub against the vehicle’s seat belts.
This may damage these parts.
If necessary, move buckled seat
belts to avoid rubbing the LATCH
attachments.
Do not fold the rear seatback when
the seat is occupied. Do not fold the
empty rear seat with a seat belt
buckled. This could damage the
seat belt or the seat. Unbuckle and
return the seat belt to its stowed
position, before folding the seat. If you need to secure more than one
child restraint in the rear seat, see
Where to Put the Restraint
093.
You cannot secure three child
restraints using the LATCH anchors in
the rear seat at the same time, but
you can install two of them. If you
want to do this, install one LATCH
child restraint in the right rear seating
position, and install the other one
either in the left rear seating position
or in the center seating position.
If you need to install child restraints
in both the center and left rear seating
positions, the one in the center
seating position will need to be
secured using the vehicle seat belts
instead of the LATCH anchors.
Refer to the following illustration to
learn which anchors to use.

114 INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS
Certain accessory power plugs may
not be compatible with the accessory
power outlet and could overload
vehicle or adapter fuses. If a problem
is experienced, see your dealer.
When adding electrical equipment, be
sure to follow the proper installation
instructions included with the
equipment. SeeAdd-On Electrical
Equipment 0230.
Caution
Hanging heavy equipment from the
power outlet can cause damage not
covered by the vehicle warranty.
The power outlets are designed for
accessory power plugs only, such as
cell phone charge cords.
Always unplug electrical equipment
when not in use and do not plug in
equipment that exceeds the maximum
20 amps rating.
Power Outlet 110/120-Volt
Alternating Current
If equipped with this power outlet on
the rear of the center console, it can
be used to plug in electrical
equipment that uses a maximum limit
of 150 watts.
An indicator light on the outlet turns
on to show it is in use. The light
comes on when the ignition is on,
equipment requiring less than 150
watts is plugged into the outlet, and
no system fault is detected. The indicator light does not come on
when the ignition is off or if the
equipment is not fully seated into the
outlet.
If equipment is connected using more
than 150 watts or a system fault is
detected, a protection circuit shuts off
the power supply and the indicator
light turns off. To reset the circuit,
unplug the item and plug it back in or
turn the Retained Accessory Power
(RAP) off and then back on. See
Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
0185.
The power restarts when equipment
using 150 watts or less is plugged into
the outlet and a system fault is not
detected.

the following and may not work
properly, if this equipment is
plugged in:
. Equipment with high initial peak
wattage, such as
compressor-driven refrigerators
and electric power tools
