When using concentrated washer fluid, follow the
manufacturer’s instructions for adding water.
Don’t mix water with ready-to-use washer fluid. Water can
cause the solution to freeze and damage your washer fluid
tank and other parts of the washer system. Also, water
doesn’t clean
as well as washer fluid.
Fill your washer fluid tank only 3/4 full when it’s very cold.
This allows for expansion, which could damage the tank
if it is
completely full.
~ 0 Don’t use radiator antifreeze in your windshield washer. It
can damage your washer system and paint.
Rear Window WiperNVasher-Dutch Door
You control your rear
window wipedwasher
from a switch on your
instrument panel, just
left
of your steering
column.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine When you decide it’s safe to lift the hood, here’s what you’ll see:
A. Coolant recovery tank
B. Radiator pressure cap
C. Engine fan
If the coolant inside the coolant recovery tank is boiling, don’t do anything
else until it cools down.
The
coolant level should be at or above FULL. If it isn’t, you may have a
leak in the radiator hoses, heater hoses, radiator, water pump or somewhere
else in the cooling system.
NOTICE:
Engine damage from running your engine without coolant isn’t \
covered by your warranty.
If there seems to be no leak, start the engine again. See if the fan speed
increases when idle speed
is doubled by pushing the accelerator pedal down.
If it doesn’t, your vehicle needs service. Turn
off the engine.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine How to Add Coolant to the Coolant Recovery Tank
If you haven’t found a problem yet, but the coolant level \
isn’t at or above
the
FULL mark, add a 50/50 mixture of clean water (preferably distilled)
and
a proper antifreeze at the coolant recovery tank. (See “Engine Coolant”
in the Index for more information about the proper coolant mix.)
..
..
I NOTICE:
In cold weather, water can freeze and crack the engine, radiator,
heater core and other parts. Use the recommended coolant.
When the coolant in the coolant recovery tank is at or above the FULL,
mark, start your vehicle.
If the overheat warning continues, there’s one more thing
you can try. You
can add
the proper coolant mix directly to the radiator, but be sure the
cooling system
is cool before you do it.

including the radiator pressure cap and upper radiator hose, is no longer
hot. Turn the pressure cap slowly to the left until it first stops. (Don't
press down while turning the pressure cap.)
If you hear a hiss, wait for that to stop. A hiss means there is still some
pressure left.
2. Then keep
turning
the
I
pressure cap, but
now push down
as you turn it.
Remove the
pressure cap.
3. Fill the Radiator
with
the proper
mix, up to the
base
of the filler
neck.

4. Then fill the
coolant recovery tank to
FULL.
5. Put the cap back
on the coolant
recovery tank,
but leave the
radiator pressure
cap off.
6. Start the engine
and let it run until
you can feel the
upper radiator
hose getting hot.
Watch out for
the
engine fan.
7. By this time the coolant level inside the radiator filler neck may be
lower.
If the level is lower, add more of the proper mix through the
filler neck
until the level reaches the base of the filler neck.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine I NOTICE:
If you use an improper coolant mix, your engine could overheat
and be badly damaged. The repair cost wouldn’t be covered by
your warranty. Too much water in the mix can freeze and crack
the engine, radiator, heater core and other parts.
Some conditions, such as air trapped in the cooling system, can affect the
coolant level
in the radiator. Check the coolant level when the engine is cold
and follow the steps under “Adding Coolant” for the proper way to add
coolant.
If you have to add coolant more than four times a year, have your dealer
check your cooling system.
I NOTICE:
If you use the proper coolant, you don’t have to add extra
inhibitors or additives which claim to improve the system. These
can be harmful.
Adding Coolant
To Check Coolant
When your engine is cold, the coolant level should be at COLD LEVEL, or
a little higher. When your engine is warm, the level should be up
to COLD
LEVEL, or a little higher.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Radiator Pressure Cap
NOTICE:
Your radiator cap is a 15 psi (105 kPa) pressure-type cap and
must be tightly installed to prevent coolant
loss and possible
engine damage from overheating. Be sure the arrows on the cap \
line up with the overflow tube on the radiator filler neck.
When you replace
your radiator pressure
cap, an
AC@ cap is
recommended. See
“Service Replacement
Part and Filler
Recommendations”
in
the Index.
Thermostat
Engine coolant temperature is controlled by a thermostat in the engine
coolant system. The thermostat stops
the flow of coolant through the
radiator until the coolant reaches a preset temperature.
When you replace your thermostat, an
AC’ thermostat is recommended.
