around the child restraint so that it is not necessary to
use a locking clip. If the seat belt has a cinching latch
plate, pulling up on the shoulder portion of the
lap/shoulder belt will tighten the belt. The cinching
latch plate will keep the belt tight, however, any seat
belt system will loosen with time, so check the belt
occasionally and pull it tight if necessary. If the seat
belt has a automatic locking retractor, it will have a
distinctive label. Pull the belt from the retractor until
there is enough to allow you to pass through the child
restraint and slide the latch plate into the buckle. Then,
pull the belt until it is all extracted from the retractor.
Allow the belt to return to the retractor, pulling on the
excess webbing to tighten the lap portion about the
child restraint. Refer toAutomatic Locking Mode
earlier in this section.
•Buckle the child into the restraint exactly as the
manufacturer’s instructions tell you.
•When your child restraint is not in use, secure it in the
vehicle with the seat belt or remove it from the vehicle.
Do not leave it loose in the vehicle. In a sudden stop or
collision, it could strike the occupants or seat backs
and cause serious personal injury.
LATCH - Child Seat Anchorage System (Lower
Anchors and Tether for CHildren)
Your vehicle’s second row seat is equipped with the child
restraint anchorage system called LATCH. The LATCH
system provides for the installation of the child restraint
without using the vehicle’s seat belts, instead securing
the child restraint using lower anchorages and upper
tether straps from the child restraint to the vehicle
structure. LATCH-compatible child restraint systems are
now available. However, because the lower anchorages
are to be introduced over a period of years, child restraint
systems having attachments for those anchorages will
continue to also have features for installation using the
vehicle’s seat belts. Child restraints having tether straps

WARNING!
An incorrectly anchored tether strap could lead to
increased head motion and possible injury to the
child. Use only the anchor positions directly behind
the child seat to secure a child restraint top tether
strap. Children and infants are safer when properly
restrained in a child restraint system secured in a
rear seating position.
Child Restraint Tether Anchor
There are tether strap anchorages behind each seating
position in the second row and behind the center seating
position in the case of the third row seat (60/40) split
bench, if equipped. To install child restraint tether follow
these instructions.
1. Place the child restraint in the center seating position
of the third row of seats.2. Route the tether strap under the head restraint and
between the two headrest posts.
3. Attach the tether strap hook of the child restraint to
the tether anchor located on the seat back and remove the
slack in the tether strap according to the manufacturer ’s

WARNING!

seat failure and injury to the child. In a collision, the
seat could come loose and allow the child to crash
into the inside of the vehicle or other passengers, or
even be thrown from the vehicle. Use only the
anchor positions directly behind the child seat to
secure a child restraint top tether strap. Follow the
instructions for Child Restraint Tether Anchor in
this section. See your dealer for help if necessary.
Transporting Pets
Airbags deploying in the front seat could harm your pet.
An unrestrained pet will be thrown about and possibly
injured, or injure a passenger during panic braking or in
a collision. Pets should be restrained in the rear seat in
pet harnesses or pet carriers that are secured by seat belts.
ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
A long break-in period is not required for the engine in
your new vehicle. Drive moderately during the first 300
miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds
up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable. While
cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration, within the limits
of local traffic laws, contributes to a good break-in.
Avoid wide open throttle acceleration in low gear.
The engine oil installed in the engine at the factory is a
high-quality, energy-conserving type lubricant. Oil
changes should be consistent with anticipated climate
conditions under which vehicle operations will occur.
The recommended viscosity and quality grades are
shown in Section 7.

NOTE:If programming a garage door opener or gate
operator, it is advised to unplug the device during the
cyclingprocess to prevent possible overheating.
Using HomeLink
To operate, simply press and release the programmed
HomeLink button. Activation will now occur for the
trained device (i.e. garage door opener, gate operator,
security system, entry door lock, home/office lighting,
etc.). For convenience, the hand-held transmitter of the
device may also be used at any time. In the event that

Erasing HomeLink Buttons
To erase programming from the three buttons (individual
buttons cannot be erased but can bereprogrammed-
note below), follow the step noted:
•Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, and
the EVIC will display “CLEARING CHANNELS”, donot release the buttons until “CHANNELS
CLEARED” is displayed on the EVIC (after approxi-
mately 20 seconds). Release both buttons. Do not hold
for longer that 30 seconds. HomeLink is now in the
train (or learning) mode and can be programmed at
any time beginning withProgramming- step 2.
Reprogramming a Single HomeLink Button
To program a device to HomeLink using a HomeLink
button previously trained, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the desired HomeLink button.DO
NOTrelease the button.
2. The EVIC will display “CHANNEL X TRANSMIT” for
20 seconds and then change to “CHANNEL X TRAIN-
ING”. Without releasing the HomeLink button, proceed
withProgrammingstep 2

Security
Garage Door Opener Operation with Security
Alarm (if equipped)
If your vehicle is equipped with the Security Alarm
feature, the operation of the HomeLink feature will be
purposely inhibited if the Security Alarm isArmed.
This prevents HomeLink operation due to un-authorized
vehicle entry. HomeLink operation will be re-stored
when the Security Alarm has beenDisarmed(pressing
the unlock button on the remote keyless entry key fob).
If you sell your vehicle, be sure to erase the HomeLink
buttons, by following the “Erasing HomeLink Buttons”
instructions in this section..
To erase all previously trained frequencies, press and
hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, and the EVIC will
display “CLEARING CHANNELS”, do not release the
buttons until “CHANNELS CLEARED” is displayed on
the EVIC (after approximately 20 seconds). Release both

WARNING!
Never leave children alone in a vehicle. Leaving
children in a vehicle unattended is dangerous for a
number of reasons. A child or others could be
seriously or fatally injured. Don’t leave the keys in
the ignition. A child could operate power windows,
other controls, or move the vehicle.
WARNING!
In an accident, there is a greater risk of being thrown
from a vehicle with an open sunroof. You could also
be seriously injured or killed. Always fasten your
seat belt properly and make sure all passengers are
properly secured too.
Do not allow small children to operate the sunroof.
Never allow fingers or other body parts, or any
object to project through the sunroof opening. Injury
may result.
Wind Buffeting
Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of
pressure on the ears or a helicopter type sound in the
ears. Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the
windows down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain
open or partially open positions. This is a normal occur-
rence and can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with

The coin slots are located under the instrument panel
center stack.
Cup Holders
Your vehicle has 8 cupholders. four are located in the
center console, two are located in the second row armrest
or rear floor console (if equipped), and two are located in
the left hand quarter panel for third row occupants. Thecupholders and storage bin located in the front of the
center console can be accessed by pressing on the access
doors.
NOTE:In colder temperatures you may experience a
slight delay on console doors opening, the console door
speed will come back to normal after 1–2 cycles.

FACTORY INSTALLED ROOF LUGGAGE RACK
The load carried on the roof when equipped with a
luggage rack must not exceed 68 kg (150 lbs.), and should
be uniformly distributed over the cargo area.
The side rails between the stantions should be used to tie
down cargo. Check the straps frequently to be sure that
the load remains securely attached.NOTE:Crossbars are offered by Moparaccessories.
External racks do not increase the total load carrying
capacity of the vehicle. Be sure that the total occupant
and luggage load inside the vehicle, plus the load on the
luggage rack, do not exceed the maximum vehicle load
capacity.

CAUTION!
To avoid damage to the roof rack and vehicle, do not
exceed the maximum roof rack load capacity. Always
distribute heavy loads as evenly as possible and
secure the load appropriately.
Long loads which extend over the windshield, such
as wood panels or surfboards, should be secured to
both the front and rear of the vehicle.
Place a blanket or other protection between the
surface of the roof and the load.
Travel at reduced speeds and turn corners carefully
when carrying large or heavy loads on the roof rack.
Wind forces, due to natural causes or nearby truck
traffic, can add sudden upward loads. This is espe-
cially true on large flat loads and may result in
damage to the cargo or your vehicle.
WARNING!
Cargo must be securely tied before driving your
vehicle. Improperly secured loads can fly off the
vehicle, particularly at high speeds, resulting in
personal injury or property damage. Follow the roof
rack Cautions when carrying cargo on your roof rack.
