Depending on the country in which
the vehicle is sold, it is compulsory to
have a high visibility jacket, warning
triangle and spare bulbs available in
the vehicle. "Active Fleet Data" telematic
unit
Connected directly to the heart of the
vehicle (multiplexed network: "Full
CAN"), the telematic unit, by means of
a "ready to use" service, permits the
sending in real time of information such
as:
- d i s t a n c e t r a v e l l e d ,
- d i s t a n c e r e m a i n i n g b e f o r e t h e n e x t
service,
- w a r n i n g s a n d f a u l t s ( o i l l e v e l , coolant level, oil temperature,
coolant temperature, etc...).
This enables "Fleet" managers
to optimise the monitoring and
management of their professional
vehicles.

Opening the bonnet

OPENING THE BONNET
Bonnet strut
Secure the strut in its location,
i d e n t i fi e d b y a s t i c k e r o n t h e l e f t - h a n d
panel side of the vehicle, to hold the
bonnet open.
Before closing the bonnet, put the strut
b a c k i n i t s c l i p w i t h o u t u s i n g e x c e s s i v e
force.
On the outside
Raise the bonnet slightly by reaching
i n a fl a t h a n d , p a l m d o w n , t o m a k e
access to the lever easier.
With this hand, push the lever to the
left. Raise the bonnet.
On the inside
Pull the lever under the fascia panel
t o w a r d s y o u . T h e b o n n e t i s u n l o c k e d .
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
e n d o f i t s t r a v e l . C h e c k t h a t t h e b o n n e t
i s l o c k e d .
Avoid manoeuvring the bonnet in
strong winds.

It is imperative that this is carried out at

g r a d e o f t h e o i l s e l e c t e d m u s t f u l fi l t h e
requirements in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.

engine style cover, handle it with
c a r e t o a v o i d d a m a g i n g t h e fi x i n g
clips.
Oil level
C h e c k t h e l e v e l r e g u l a r l y a n d t o p u p
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 litre per 600 miles
( 1 0 0 0 k m ) .

To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited. Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements.
These regular maintenance

in good running order. Consult the
instructions at a CITROËN dealer or in
t h e s e r v i c i n g b o o k l e t e n c l o s e d i n t h e

Levels
Cooling system
O n l y u s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
O t h e r w i s e , y o u r i s k s e r i o u s l y d a m a g i n g
your engine.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can
o p e r a t e w i t h t h e i g n i t i o n k e y r e m o v e d
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
c a r r y i n g o u t a n y w o r k .
S l a c k e n t h e c a p b y 1 / 4 o f a t u r n t o
release the pressure to prevent any
r i s k o f s c a l d i n g . W h e n t h e p r e s s u r e
has dropped, remove the cap and top
up the level with coolant.
I f fl u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
c h e c k e d b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r a s
soon as possible. Power steering fluid level
T h e v e h i c l e m u s t b e p a r k e d o n l e v e l
ground with the engine cold. Unscrew
the cap integrated with the gauge and
c h e c k t h e l e v e l w h i c h m u s t b e b e t w e e n
t h e M I N a n d M A X m a r k s .
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r , y o u
are advised to drive at a speed higher
t h a n 4 0 m p h ( 6 0 k m / h ) f o r a t l e a s t fi v e
minutes as soon as possible, when
t r a f fi c c o n d i t i o n s p e r m i t ( u n t i l t h e
message disappears and the service
w a r n i n g l i g h t i s s w i t c h e d o f f ) .
During regeneration of the particle
e m i s s i o n fi l t e r , r e l a y n o i s e m a y b e
heard under the fascia.
If the message is still displayed and if
the service warning light remains on,
consult a CITROËN dealer.
Topping up
The level must be between the MIN
a n d M A X m a r k s o n t h e e x p a n s i o n
b o t t l e . I f m o r e t h a n 1 l i t r e o f fl u i d i s
required to top up the level, have the
s y s t e m c h e c k e d b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r . Windscreen wash and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you use
products of the CITROËN range.
For optimum cleaning and to avoid
f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d m u s t n o t b e t o p p e d
up or replaced with water.
Capacity of the screenwash reservoir:
approximately 4.5 litres.
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h h e a d l a m p
washers, the capacity of the reservoir
is 7.5 litres.
Diesel additive level
(Diesel with particle
emission filter)
The minimum level of this
additive is indicated by lighting of the
service warning light, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on
the display.
When this occurs with the engine
running it is due to the start of
s a t u r a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r
( e x c e p t i o n a l l y p r o l o n g e d u r b a n t y p e
driving conditions: low speed, long
t r a f fi c j a m s , . . . ) . Topping up
It is imperative that this additive is
topped up by a CITROËN dealer
without delay.
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
w i t h t h e s k i n .
B r a k e fl u i d i s h a r m f u l t o h e a l t h a n d
very corrosive.
D o n o t d i s p o s e o f u s e d o i l , b r a k e fl u i d
or coolant into drains or into the ground
but into the containers dedicated to this
use at CITROËN dealer.

Carbon filter and passenger
compartment filter

p e r m i t s r e p l a c e m e n t o f t h e fi l t e r s .
T h e c a r b o n fi l t e r p e r m i t s c o n t i n u o u s
a n d e f f e c t i v e fi l t e r i n g o f d u s t .
I f t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r
becomes clogged, this may reduce
the performance of the air conditioning
system and generate unpleasant
odours.
We recommend the use of a combined
p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r . B y
means of its second special active
fi l t e r , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n
of the air breathed by the occupants
and the cleanness of the passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t ( r e d u c t i o n o f a l l e r g i c
symptoms, unpleasant odours and
g r e a s y d e p o s i t s ) . Particle emission filter (Diesel)
It is imperative that particle emission
fi l t e r m a i n t e n a n c e i s c a r r i e d o u t b y a
CITROËN dealer.
On acceleration after the vehicle has
been running for a prolonged period
at very low speed or at idle, you may,
in exceptional circumstances, notice
the emission of water vapour at the
exhaust. This water vapour does not
have any adverse effect on vehicle
handling or the environment.
Battery
At the start of winter, have your battery
c h e c k e d b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r .
Brake pads
B r a k e p a d w e a r d e p e n d s o n t h e s t y l e
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances. It may be necessary to
c h e c k t h e t h i c k n e s s o f t h e p a d s , e v e n
between services.
U n l e s s t h e r e i s a l e a k o n t h e c i r c u i t , a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
t h a t t h e b r a k e p a d s a r e w o r n .
Brake disc/drum wear status
For any information relating to
c h e c k i n g t h e b r a k e d i s c / d r u m w e a r
status, consult a CITROËN dealer.
Handbrake
W h e r e t h e h a n d b r a k e t r a v e l i s t o o
great or there is a reduction in the
performance of the system, the
h a n d b r a k e s h o u l d b e a d j u s t e d , e v e n
between services.
H a v e t h e s y s t e m c h e c k e d b y a
CITROËN dealer.
Oil filter
C h a n g e t h e fi l t e r r e g u l a r l y i n
accordance with the servicing
schedule.
R e f e r t o t h e s e r v i c i n g b o o k l e t t o fi n d
out the replacement interval for these
components.

Bleeding the water contained in
the diesel filter
Manual gearbox
H a v e t h e l e v e l c h e c k e d i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h
the manufacturer's servicing schedule.
Only use products recommended
by CITROËN or products
of equivalent quality and
characteristics.
In order to optimise the operation
o f u n i t s a s i m p o r t a n t a s t h e b r a k i n g
circuit, CITROËN selects and offers
s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
In order to avoid damaging the
electrical units, high pressure washing
to clean the engine compartment is
strictly prohibited.
If this warning light comes
o n , b l e e d t h e fi l t e r . O t h e r w i s e
bleed regularly each time the
engine is drained.
To evacuate the water,
unscrew the bleed screw located on
t h e fi l t e r .
Operate until all of the water in the
transparent pipe has been drained out
then tighten the bleed screw.

Fuel
FILLING WITH FUEL

fl a p .
A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used.
W h e n fi l l i n g t h e f u e l t a n k , d o n o t
c o n t i n u e a f t e r t h e 3 r d c u t - o f f o f t h e
nozzle. This could cause malfunctions.
T h e c a p a c i t y o f t h e f u e l t a n k i s
approximately 60 litres.

FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
C h e c k t h a t t h e r e i s n o o d o u r o r
l e a k a g e o f f u e l o u t s i d e t h e v e h i c l e a n d
r e - e s t a b l i s h t h e f u e l s u p p l y :
- s w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n ( S T O P p o s i t i o n ) .
- r e m o v e t h e k e y .
- p u t t h e k e y b a c k i n t h e i g n i t i o n .
- s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n a n d s t a r t .
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
n e c e s s a r y t o r e - p r i m e t h e c i r c u i t :
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- s q u e e z e a n d r e l e a s e t h e m a n u a l r e - p r i m i n g p u m p , u n d e r t h e b o n n e t
under the protective cover,
- o p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r u n t i l t h e e n g i n e starts.
Refer to the "Under the bonnet"
section of chapter 6.
W h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l , a m e c h a n i c a l
s y s t e m p r e v e n t s o p e n i n g o f t h e l e f t -
h a n d s i d e d o o r . W h e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p
is open, ensure that no one tries to
slide this door.
O n c e t h e fl a p h a s b e e n c l o s e d , t h e
s l i d i n g s i d e d o o r m a y j a m , p u s h t h e
door to close it then open it.
W h e n t h e m i n i m u m f u e l t a n k
level is reached, this warning
light comes on.
You then have
approximately 8 litres of
fuel remaining. Fill up without delay to
avoid running out of fuel.
