Starting and stopping Good practice when stopping
Good practice when starting
Diesel pre-heating warning
light
If the temperature is high
enough, the warning light
comes on for less than
one second, you can start
without waiting.
In cold weather, wait for this warning
light to switch off then operate the
starter (Starting position) until the
engine starts. Door or bonnet open
warning light
If this comes on, a door or the
bonnet is not closed correctly,
check!
Minimise engine and gearbox wear
When switching off the ignition, let the
engine run for a few seconds to allow
the turbocharger (Diesel engine) to
return to idle.
Do not press the accelerator when
switching off the ignition.
There is no need to engage a gear
after parking the vehicle.
STARTING AND STOPPING
Running and accessories position.
To unlock the steering, turn the
steering wheel gently while turning the
key, without forcing. In this position,
certain accessories can be used.
Starting position.
The starter is operated, the engine
turns over, release the key.
STOP position: steering lock.
The ignition is off. Turn the steering
wheel until the steering locks. Remove
the key.

OPENING THE BONNET
Bonnet strut
Secure the strut in its location,
i d e n t i fi e d b y a s t i c k e r o n t h e l e f t - h a n d
panel side of the vehicle, to hold the
bonnet open.
Before closing the bonnet, put the strut
b a c k i n i t s c l i p w i t h o u t u s i n g e x c e s s i v e
force.
On the outside
Raise the bonnet slightly by reaching
i n a fl a t h a n d , p a l m d o w n , t o m a k e
access to the lever easier.
With this hand, push the lever to the
left. Raise the bonnet.
On the inside
Pull the lever under the fascia panel
t o w a r d s y o u . T h e b o n n e t i s u n l o c k e d .
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
e n d o f i t s t r a v e l . C h e c k t h a t t h e b o n n e t
i s l o c k e d .
Avoid manoeuvring the bonnet in
strong winds.

Oil change
It is imperative that this is carried out at
t h e i n t e r v a l s s p e c i fi e d a n d t h e v i s c o s i t y
g r a d e o f t h e o i l s e l e c t e d m u s t f u l fi l t h e
requirements in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.
Consult the instructions at a CITROËN
dealer.
R e m o v e t h e d i p s t i c k b e f o r e fi l l i n g .
C h e c k t h e l e v e l a f t e r fi l l i n g ( n e v e r
e x c e e d t h e m a x m a r k ) .
S c r e w t h e c a p b a c k o n t o t h e s u m p
before closing the bonnet. Changing the brake fluid
T h e b r a k e fl u i d m u s t b e c h a n g e d a t
the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.
U s e fl u i d s r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
m a n u f a c t u r e r , w h i c h f u l fi l D O T 4
standards.
The level must be between the MIN
a n d M A X m a r k s o n t h e r e s e r v o i r .
I f fl u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
c h e c k e d b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r a s
soon as possible.
Warning lights
I f y o u h a v e t o r e m o v e / r e fi t t h e
engine style cover, handle it with
c a r e t o a v o i d d a m a g i n g t h e fi x i n g
clips.
Oil level
C h e c k t h e l e v e l r e g u l a r l y a n d t o p u p
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 litre per 600 miles
( 1 0 0 0 k m ) .

To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited. Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements.

FILLING WITH FUEL
Low fuel level T h e f u e l t a n k m u s t b e fi l l e d

- R e m o v e t h e c a p a n d h o o k i t o n t o the clip located on the inside of the
fl a p .
A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used.
W h e n fi l l i n g t h e f u e l t a n k , d o n o t
c o n t i n u e a f t e r t h e 3 r d c u t - o f f o f t h e
nozzle. This could cause malfunctions.
T h e c a p a c i t y o f t h e f u e l t a n k i s
approximately 60 litres.
- A f t e r fi l l i n g t h e f u e l t a n k , l o c k t h e c a p a n d c l o s e t h e fl a p .
FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
C h e c k t h a t t h e r e i s n o o d o u r o r
l e a k a g e o f f u e l o u t s i d e t h e v e h i c l e a n d
r e - e s t a b l i s h t h e f u e l s u p p l y :
- s w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n ( S T O P p o s i t i o n ) .
- r e m o v e t h e k e y .
- p u t t h e k e y b a c k i n t h e i g n i t i o n .
- s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n a n d s t a r t .
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
n e c e s s a r y t o r e - p r i m e t h e c i r c u i t :
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- s q u e e z e a n d r e l e a s e t h e m a n u a l r e - p r i m i n g p u m p , u n d e r t h e b o n n e t
under the protective cover,
- o p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r u n t i l t h e e n g i n e starts.
Refer to the "Under the bonnet"
section of chapter 6.
W h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l , a m e c h a n i c a l
s y s t e m p r e v e n t s o p e n i n g o f t h e l e f t -
h a n d s i d e d o o r . W h e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p
is open, ensure that no one tries to
slide this door.
O n c e t h e fl a p h a s b e e n c l o s e d , t h e
s l i d i n g s i d e d o o r m a y j a m , p u s h t h e
door to close it then open it.
W h e n t h e m i n i m u m f u e l t a n k
level is reached, this warning
light comes on.
You then have
approximately 8 litres of
fuel remaining. Fill up without delay to
avoid running out of fuel.

C a r r y o u t t h e o p e r a t i o n s i n r e v e r s e
o r d e r t o r e fi t e a c h b u l b a n d c h e c k t h a t
the bonnet is closed securely.
Type C
Halogen bulb: release the
r e t a i n i n g s p r i n g f r o m i t s
housing.
Type B
B a y o n e t b u l b : p r e s s
on the bulb then turn it
a n t i c l o c k w i s e .
Halogen bulbs must be changed
w i t h t h e h e a d l a m p o f f . W a i t a f e w
m i n u t e s ( r i s k o f s e r i o u s b u r n s ) .
Do not touch the bulb directly with your
fi n g e r s , u s e l i n t - f r e e c l o t h s .
It is normal for condensation to form
i n s i d e t h e h e a d l a m p s . R e g u l a r u s e o f
the vehicle eliminates this misting. T h e b u l b s m u s t b e c h a n g e d w i t h
the ignition off or with the battery
d i s c o n n e c t e d . W a i t a p p r o x i m a t e l y
3 minutes after changing the bulb
before reconnecting the battery.
C h e c k t h a t t h e l i g h t s o p e r a t e c o r r e c t l y
a f t e r e a c h o p e r a t i o n .
W h e n u s i n g t h i s t y p e o f w a s h i n g
o n s t u b b o r n d i r t , d o n o t p e r s i s t
o n t h e h e a d l a m p s , t h e l i g h t s a n d
their surround to avoid damaging their
coating and their seal.

- under the bonnet (near the battery).

those fuses which can be changed

s p a r e f u s e s , l o c a t e d b e h i n d t h e f a s c i a

Removing and fitting a fuse
Always replace a faulty fuse with a
fuse of the same rating.
