WARNING LAMPS
Each time the vehicle is started: a series of warning lamps comes on applying a self-test check. They switch off almost

This initial warning may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message which appears on the display.

visibility, take care to switch them off to avoid
breaking the law. "This light is a dazzling red."

After this operation, if you wish to
disconnect the battery, lock the
v e h i c l e a n d w a i t f o r a t l e a s t fi v e
minutes, otherwise the zero re-set will
not be registered.
Zero re-set
Your CITROËN dealer carries out this
operation after each service.
However, if you carry out the service
yourself, the re-set procedure is as
follows:
- switch off the ignition,
- press and hold the trip recorder
reset button,
- switch on the ignition.
The display begins a countdown.
When the display shows "=0" , release
the button; the spanner disappears.
Engine oil level indicator
When the ignition is switched on, the
engine oil level is indicated for a few
seconds, after the service information. Oil level correct
Lack of oil
Flashing of
"OIL" ,
linked with the
service warning light,
accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on the
display, indicates a lack of oil which
could damage the engine.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a c h e c k
using the dipstick, it is essential that
the level is topped up.
Oil level gauge fault
Flashing of "OIL--"
indicates a
malfunction of the
engine oil level
gauge. Consult a
CITROËN dealer.
The level read will only be correct
if the vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off for
more than 15 minutes. Dipstick

this level as a surplus of oil
may damage the engine.
Contact a CITROËN dealer
without delay.
B = minimum, top up the level

the type of oil suited to your
engine.
Lighting rheostat With the ignition on, press
the button until the zeros
appear.
With the lights on, press
the button to vary the
intensity of the lighting
of the instruments and
controls. When the lighting
reaches the minimum (or
m a x i m u m ) s e t t i n g , r e l e a s e
the button then press it again to
increase (or reduce) the brightness.
As soon as the lighting is of the
required brightness, release the button.

HORN
Press the centre of the steering wheel.
HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise your
vehicle.
Check that the handbrake is applied
fi r m l y b e f o r e l e a v i n g t h e v e h i c l e . Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button to
lower the handbrake. HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press this button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
The hazard warning lights should only
be used in dangerous situations, when
stopping in an emergency or when
driving in unusual conditions.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and pull
the handbrake.
There is no advantage in engaging
a gear after parking the vehicle,
particularly if the vehicle is loaded.
If the handbrake is still on or has
not been released properly, this is
indicated by this warning light which
comes on on the instrument panel.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the force of deceleration,
the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u
accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button.

(ABS - EBFD)
T h e A B S a n d E B F D ( e l e c t r o n i c b r a k e
force distribution) systems improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle on braking, in particular on
poor or slippery surfaces.
The ABS prevents locking of the
wheels, the EBFD provides control of
the braking pressure wheel by wheel. If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on
the display, it indicates a
malfunction of the ABS which
could result in a loss of control of the
vehicle on braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the brake
and STOP warning lights,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, it indicates a malfunction of
the electronic brake force distribution
which could result in a loss of control of
the vehicle on braking.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (EBA)
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, press the pedal
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g i t .
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated.
This alters the resistance of the brake
pedal under your foot.
To prolong the operation of the
e m e r g e n c y b r a k i n g a s s i s t a n c e s y s t e m :
keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Good practice
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock. It does not
reduce the braking distance.
O n v e r y s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s ( i c e , o i l ,
etc...) the ABS may increase the
braking distance. When braking in
an emergency, do not hesitate to
p r e s s t h e b r a k e p e d a l fi r m l y , w i t h o u t
releasing the pressure, even on a
slippery surface, you will then be able
to continue to manoeuvre the vehicle
to avoid an obstacle.
Normal operation of the ABS may be
felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.
W h e n c h a n g i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that these are
recommended by CITROËN.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, contact a CITROËN
dealer.

EMERGENCY OR ASSISTANCE
CALL
This on-board technology system
allows you to make, depending on the
b u t t o n s e l e c t e d :
- an emergency call to locate your vehicle and immediately summon
emergency assistance,
- an assistance call, in the event of a breakdown, to the dedicated
CITROËN assistance services.
These services are subject to
conditions and availability. Consult a
CITROËN dealer. Emergency call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
emergency call button cancel the
request. The green warning lamp
goes out.
This call is operated by the CITROËN
Emergency platform, which receives
the information on the vehicle's location
and can then transmit all the information
necessary to the emergency services. Operating fault
When the ignition is switched on,
the green warning lamp lights up for
approximately 3 seconds to indicate
that the system is operational.
If the orange warning lamp lights up
a n d fl a s h e s w h e n s w i t c h i n g o n t h e
ignition or during use, there is a system
fault.
If the orange warning lamp remains lit,
the back-up battery needs replacing.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Assistance call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
assistance call button cancel the
r e q u e s t . A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h e
cancellation.
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e g r e e n
warning lamp and a voice
m e s s a g e c o n fi r m t h a t a
call is being made to the CITROËN
Emergency platform.
The green warning lamp remains lit
( w i t h o u t fl a s h i n g ) w h e n c o m m u n i c a t i o n
is established. It goes out at the end of
the call. In the event of a vehicle
b r e a k d o w n :
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h a t a c a l l i s
being made to the services.
In countries where such a platform is
not operational, or if the vehicle cannot
be located by the service, the call is
operated directly by the emergency
s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) .
In the event of a collision
detected by the airbags
computer, and regardless of
any deployment of the airbags,
the emergency call is made
automatically.

Airbags
Front airbags
The front airbags are incorporated in
the centre of the steering wheel for the
driver and in the fascia for the front
passenger.
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously,
unless the passenger's front airbag
has been disarmed, in the event of a
serious front impact applied to all or
part of the front impact zone A in the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle
on a horizontal plane directed from the
front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n
the front occupant of the vehicle and
the fascia to cushion his forward
movement. Disarming
The passenger's front airbag alone can
b e d i s a r m e d :
-
With the ignition switched off ,
insert the key into the passenger
airbag disarming switch,
- turn it to the off "OFF" position,
- then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
The airbag warning light on the
instrument panel is lit throughout
the period of disarming. If the two airbag warning lights
are lit continuously, do not install
a rear-facing child seat. Consult a
CITROËN dealer.
Front airbag fault
To ensure the safety of your
child, it is essential to disarm the
passenger airbag when you install
a rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being killed or seriously
i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e . Reactivation
In the
"OFF" position, the passenger
airbag will not be triggered in the event
of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the airbag slot to the "ON"
position to re-activate the airbag
and thus ensure the safety of your
passenger in the event of an impact.
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a CITROËN
dealer to have the system
checked.

It is imperative that this is carried out at

manufacturer's servicing schedule.

To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited. Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements.
These regular maintenance

in good running order. Consult the

t h e s e r v i c i n g b o o k l e t e n c l o s e d i n t h e
