THE KEYS
The keys allow you to switch on the
ignition and operate the passenger
air bag disarming switch, as well as
to independently operate the locks
o n t h e d o o r s a n d t h e f u e l fi l l e r c a p .
STARTING The remote control
Central locking
From the front doors, the keys allow
you to lock and unlock the doors and
tailgate.
If one of the doors or the tailgate is
open, it is impossible to operate the
central locking.
The remote control performs the
same functions at a distance. Unlocking
Press button
B to unlock the vehicle.

Locating the vehicle
To locate your vehicle, previously
locked, in a car park:
press button A , the courtesy lights
come on and the direction indica-
t o r s fl a s h f o r a f e w s e c o n d s .

Locking
Press button
A to lock the vehicle.
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y fi x e d l i g h t i n g o f
the direction indicators for approxi-
mately two seconds. STOP position (S):
The ignition is off.
To release the steering, turn the
steering wheel slightly while turning
the key, without forcing it.
Accessories position (A):
The ignition is off but the accessories
can be used.
On position (M):
The ignition is on.
Starting position (D):
Operates the starter.
Release the key when the engine
has started. Never operate the starter
while the engine is running.

This locks the engine control sys-
tem as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
d o e s n o t h a v e t h e k e y .
The ignition key has an electronic
c h i p w h i c h h a s a s p e c i a l c o d e . W h e n
the ignition is switched on, the code
must be recognised for the vehicle to
s t a r t .
If the system does not function
correctly, the central locking button
indicator light, situated in the centre
o f t h e f a s c i a , fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e
ignition is switched on (2nd notch),
accompanied by an audible signal
a n d a m e s s a g e o n t h e d i s p l a y .

Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the
driver's door, if the key has been left
i n t h e i g n i t i o n . Make a careful note of the
n u m b e r o f e a c h k e y . T h i s
number is coded on the label
a t t a c h e d t o t h e k e y .
The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
while it is in your pocket as there is a
possibility that it may unlock the vehi-
c l e , w i t h o u t y o u b e i n g a w a r e o f i t .
The remote control does not operate
when the key is in the ignition, even
when the ignition is switched off,
e x c e p t f o r r e p r o g r a m m i n g .
Do not operate the deadlocking function
i f t h e r e i s a n y o n e i n s i d e t h e v e h i c l e .
Driving with the doors locked may
make access to the passenger com-
partment by the emergency services
m o r e d i f fi c u l t i n a n e m e r g e n c y .
As a safety precaution (with children
on board), remove the key from the
ignition when you leave the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .
Do not repeatedly press the buttons
of your remote control out of range of
y o u r v e h i c l e .
You run the risk of stopping it from
working and the remote control would
h a v e t o b e r e p r o g r a m m e d .
W h e n p u r c h a s i n g a s e c o n d - h a n d
vehicle, have the key codes memo-
rised by a CITROËN dealer, to ensure
that the keys in your possession are the
o n l y o n e s w h i c h c a n s t a r t t h e v e h i c l e .

e l e c t r o n i c e n g i n e i m m o b i l i s e r s y s t e m . If the keys are lost

THE ALARM SYSTEM *
The alarm offers two types of protection:
- exterior protection: the alarm
sounds if a door, the boot or the
bonnet is opened ;
- interior protection: the alarm
sounds if there is a variation in
the volume inside the vehicle
(breaking of a window or move-
ment inside the vehicle) .
Setting the alarm
Switch the ignition off and get out of
t h e v e h i c l e .
A c t i v a t e t h e a l a r m w i t h i n fi v e m i n u t e s
f o l l o w i n g y o u r e x i t f r o m t h e v e h i c l e ,
by locking using the remote control
key (the red indicator light on the
switch 1 , which can be seen from the
o u t s i d e , fl a s h e s o n c e a s e c o n d ) . Warning
If, on setting the alarm, a door, the
boot or the bonnet are not closed
correctly, the siren sounds for a mo-
m e n t .
Close the vehicle correctly to set the
a l a r m .
If the interior protection alarm is trig-
gered ten times in succession, it is
d i s a r m e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I t m u s t b e
set again in order for it to operate
c o r r e c t l y .
W h e n t h e a l a r m i s t r i g g e r e d , t h e s i r e n
sounds and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r t h i r t y s e c o n d s .
After it has been triggered, the alarm
b e c o m e s o p e r a t i o n a l a g a i n .
Note: if you wish to lock your vehicle
without setting the alarm, lock it using
t h e k e y i n t h e d o o r l o c k .
Disarming the alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the remote
control key (the red indicator light on
the switch 1 g o e s o u t ) .
Note: i f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s , i t i s
a sign that the alarm has been trig-
g e r e d i n y o u r a b s e n c e .
T o s t o p i t , s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n .
Note: when the alarm is set, but the
remote control no longer works:
unlock the doors using the key
and open the door; the alarm is
triggered;
switch the ignition on within
ten seconds; the alarm is dis-
a r m e d .
To set the alarm with exterior
protection only
If, while you are away from the vehicle,
you wish to leave a window partially
open or a pet inside the vehicle, you
