HILL START ASSIST
This system (also called HHC - Hill Holder
Control),  linked  to  the  dynamic Â
stability
 control  system,  makes  hill Â
starts easier and is activated in the
following
 conditions:
-
Â
the
 vehicle  must  be  stationary, Â
engine
 running,  foot  on  the  brake,
-
Â
the
gradient  of  the  road  must  be Â
steeper than 5%,
-
Â
uphill,
the  gearbox  must  be  in Â
neutral or in a gear other than
reverse,
-
Â
downhill,
 reverse  gear  must  be Â
engaged.
The
 Hill  Start Â
Assist
 system  is  a  driving Â
aid.
It  is  not  an  automatic  vehicle Â
parking
 function  or  an  automatic Â
parking
 brake.
Operation
With the brake pedal and clutch pedal pressed,  from  the  time  you  release Â
the
brake  pedal,  without  using  the Â
parking
 brake,  you  have  approximately Â
2Â seconds
to  move  off  before  the Â
vehicle
 starts  to  roll  back.
During
the  moving  off  phase,  the Â
function
 is  deactivated  automatically, Â
gradually
 releasing  the  braking Â
pressure.
 During  this  phase,  the Â
characteristic
 noise  of  mechanical Â
release
of  the  brakes  may  be  heard, Â
indicating
 the  imminent  movement  of Â
the
 vehicle.
Operating fault
Hill start assist is deactivated in the
following  situations:
-
when the clutch pedal is released,
-
Â
when
 the  parking  brake  is  applied,
-
when the engine is switched of
f,
-
Â
when
 the  engine  stalls.
If
 a  malfunction  of  the Â
system
 occurs,  this Â
warning
 lamp  comes  on Â
accompanied
 by  an  audible Â
signal
 and  confirmed  by Â
a
message  in  the  screen.  Have  the Â
system
checked  by  at  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.

A FEW DRIVING
RECOMMENDA
TIONS
observe the driving regulations at all
times  and  remain  vigilant  whatever  the Â
traffic
 conditions.
Pay
close  attention  to  the  traffic  and Â
keep
your  hands  on  the  wheel  so  that Â
you
are  ready  to  react  at  any  time  to Â
any
 eventuality.
On
a  long  journey,  a  break  every  two Â
hours
 is  strongly  recommended.
In
 difficult  weather,  drive  smoothly, Â
anticipate
the  need  to  brake  and Â
increase
 the  distance  from  other Â
vehicles.
Driving on flooded roads
We strongly advise against driving
on flooded  roads,  as  this  could  cause Â
serious
damage  to  the  engine  or Â
gearbox, as well as to the electrical
systems
of  your  vehicle. If you are obliged to drive through
water:
-
Â
check
that  the  depth  of  water  does Â
not
exceed  15  cm,  taking  account Â
of
waves  that  might  be  generated Â
by other users,
-
Â
deactivate
 the  Stop  &  Start  system,
-
drive as slowly as possible without
stallin
g.  In  all  cases,  do  not  exceed  6
 mph  (10  km/h),
- do not stop and do not switch of f
the
 engine.
On
leaving  the  flooded  road,  as  soon Â
as
 circumstances  allow,  make  several Â
light
brake  applications  to  dry  the  brake Â
discs
 and  pads.
If in doubt on the state of your vehicle,
contact a CITR
o Ë n dealer or a
qualified
 workshop.Never
drive  with  the  parking  brake Â
applied
 -  Risk  of  overheating  and Â
damage
 to  the  braking  system!
Do  not  park  or  run  the  engine  when Â
stationary
 in  areas  where  inflammable Â
substances
 and  materials  (dry  grass, Â
dead
leaves...)  might  come  into  contact Â
with
the  hot  exhaust  system  -  Risk  of Â
fire!
n
ever leave a vehicle
unsupervised with the engine
running.  If  you  have  to  leave Â
your vehicle with the engine running,
apply
the  parking  brake  and  put  the  gearbox into neutral or position
N or P,
depending
 on  the  type  of  gearbox.
Important!

The speed of the vehicle responds to
the pressure of the driver's foot, up
to the the accelerator pedal's point of
resistance, which indicates that the
programmed speed  has  been  reached.
However, pressing the pedal beyond
this
point  of  resistance  to  the  floor Â

ANTI-SLIP REGULATION (ASR)
AND
DYNAMIC STABILITY
CONTROL (DSC)
These systems are linked and complement the  ABS.
The
Â
ASR
system  is  very  useful  for Â
maintaining
 optimum  drive  and Â
avoiding losses of control of the vehicle
on
 acceleration.
The
system  optimises  drive  to  prevent Â
the
wheels  skidding,  by  acting  on  the Â
brakes
of  the  drive  wheels  and  on  the Â
engine.
It  also  allows  the  directional Â
stability
of  the  vehicle  to  be  improved Â
on
 acceleration.
Use the
d SC to hold your course
without
 attempting  to  countersteer.
If there is a variation between the
trajectory
followed  by  the  vehicle  and Â
that required by the driver
, the d SC
system
 automatically  acts  on  the Â
engine
and  the  brake  of  one  or  more Â
wheels,
in  order  to  put  the  vehicle  back Â
on
 course.
Deactivation
In certain exceptional conditions
(starting  the  vehicle  when  stuck  in  mud Â
or
snow,  or  on  loose  ground...),  it  could Â
prove useful to deactivate the a
SR and
DSC
systems  to  make  the  wheels  spin Â
and
 regain  grip.
Operating fault
Good practice
The ASR/DSC  systems  offer  increased  safety
 during  normal  driving,  but Â
should
not  incite  the  driver  to  take  risks Â
or
 to  drive  at  high  speed.
The
operation  of  these  systems  is Â
ensured
 if  the  recommendations Â
of
 the  manufacturer  regarding Â
the
wheels  (tyres  and  rims),  the Â
braking
 components,  the  electronic Â
components
and  the  fitting  and  repair Â
procedures
 are  observed.
After
an  impact,  have  these  systems Â
checked
 by  a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a Â
qualified
 workshop.
Operation
The warning lamp flashes when operation of the a SR or
DSC
 is  triggered.
They engage again:
-
Â
automatically
 above  30  mph Â
(50
Â
km/h), When
 a  malfunction  of  the  systems
 occurs,  the  warning Â
lamp
and  the  LED  come  on, Â
accompanied
 by  an  audible Â
signal
and  a  message  in  the Â
screen.
-
Press the button or turn

checked.
The
warning  lamp  may  also  come  on  if Â
the
tyres  are  under-inflated.  Check  the Â
pressure
 of  each  tyre.

GRIP CONTROL
Correct use
Your vehicle is designed principally to
drive
on  tarmac  roads  but  it  allows  you Â
to drive on other less passable terrain
occasionally
.
However, particularly when your
vehicle is heavily laden, it does not
permit
 off-road  activities  such  as:
-
crossing and driving on ground
which
 could  damage  the  underbody Â
or
tear  off  components  (fuel  pipe, Â
fuel
 cooler,  ...),  particularly  by Â
obstacles or stones,
-
driving on ground with steep
gradients and poor grip,
-
