adopt a preventive style of driving,
without
 frequent  and  harsh Â
acceleration,
-
observe the service intervals;
we
 recommend  that  services  are Â

This programmes service intervals according
to  the  use  of  the  vehicle.More than 1 000 miles/km before the
next service is due
Example:
 4  800  miles/km  remain Â
before
the  next  service  is  due.  When Â
the ignition is switched on and for a
few
 seconds,  the  screen  shows:
a few seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the oil level is displayed
(depending on version), then the total
distance
 recorder  resumes  normal Â
operation showing the total and trip
distances.
Less than 1 000 miles/km before the
next service is due
Each
time  the  ignition  is  switched  on Â
and for a few seconds, the spanner
flashes
 and  the  number  of  miles/
kilometres
 remaining  is  displayed:
a few seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the oil level is displayed
(depending on version), then the total
distance
 recorder  resumes  normal Â
operation
and  the  spanner  remains  on. Â
This indicates that a service should be
carried
 out  shortly.
Service overdue
Operation
A
Â
few  moments  after  the  ignition Â
has been switched on, the spanner
indicating
 a  service  operation  comes Â
on; the display for the total distance
recorder
gives  (in  round  figures)  the Â
distance
 remaining  before  the  next Â
service.
The points at which a service is due
are
calculated  from  the  last  indicator Â
zero
 reset.
The point at which a service is due is
determined
 by  two  parameters:
-
the distance travelled,
-
Â
the
time  which  has  elapsed  since Â
the
 last  service.
The
 distance  remaining  before  the Â
next
service  may  be  weighted  by Â
the
time  factor,  depending  on  the Â
type
of  driving. With the engine running the spanner
remains
on  until  the  service  has  been Â
carried
 out.
For BlueH
d i d iesel versions, this
alert
is  also  accompanied  by  the  fixed Â
illu
mination  of  the  Service  warning Â
lamp,
 on  switching  on  the  ignition.
Each
 time  the  ignition  is Â
switched on and for a few
seconds, the spanner
flashes
 and  the  excess Â
distance
 is  displayed.
For BlueH
d i d iesel versions, the
spanner
can  also  come  on  early, Â
according the level of deterioration
of
the  engine  oil.  Deterioration  of  the Â
engine oil depends on the conditions of
use
 of  the  vehicle.

changing the brake fluid
The brake fluid must be changed at the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer's servicing  schedule.
Use
 fluids  recommended  by  the Â
manufacturer
,  which  meet  the  DOT4 Â
standard.
The
level  must  be  between  the  MIN Â
and
 MAX  marks  on  the  reservoir.
If
fluid  has  to  be  added  frequently, Â
this
indicates  a  fault  which  must  be Â
checked
by  a  CITROËN  dealer  or Â
a
qualified  workshop  as  soon  as Â
possible.
Warning lamps
If you have to remove / refitÂ
the engine style cover , handle it
with
care  to  avoid  damaging  the Â
fixing
 clips.
Oil level
It is recommended that the oil level be checked  every  3  000  miles  (5  000  km) Â
and topped up if necessary between oil
changes.
Check
the  level  with  the  vehicle  level, Â

Battery
At the start of summer or winter, have your battery  checked  by  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
It  may  be  necessary  to Â
check
the  thickness  of  the  pads,  even Â
between
 services.
Unless
there  is  a  leak  on  the  circuit,  a Â
drop
in  the  brake  fluid  level  indicates Â
that
 the  brake  pads  are  worn.
Brake disc / drum wear
For information on checking the brake disc /  drum  wear,  contact  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
.
Parking brake
Where the parking brake travel is too great or there is a reduction in the
performance
 of  the  system,  the  parking
 brake
 should  be  adjusted,  even  between
 services.
Have
the  system  checked  by  a  CITROËN
 dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
