Limit the causes of excess consumption
Spread loads throughout the vehicle; place the heaviest
items in  the  bottom  of  the  boot,  as  close  as  possible  to  the Â
rear
 seats.
Limit
the  loads  carried  in  the  vehicle  and  reduce  wind Â
resistance
(roof  bars,  roof  rack,  bicycle  carrier,  trailer...). Â
Use
 a  roof  box  in  preference.
Remove
roof  bars  and  roof  racks  after  use.
At
the  end  of  winter,  remove  snow  tyres  and  refit  your Â
summer
 tyres.
Observe the recommendations on maintenance
Check the tyre pressures regularly, when cold, referring to the label  in  the  door  aperture,  driver's  side.
Carry
 out  this  check  in  particular:
-
Â
before
 a  long  journey,
-
at each change of season,
-
Â
after
a  long  period  out  of  use.
d
on't forget the spare wheel and the tyres on any trailer or
caravan.
Have
your  vehicle  serviced  regularly  (engine  oil,  oil  filter, Â
air
filter,  passenger  compartment  filter...)  and  observe  the Â
schedule
of  operations  recommended  in  the  maintenance Â
and
 warranty  guide.
With
a  Blue  HDi  Diesel  engine,  if  the  SCR  system  is Â
faulty
your  vehicle  becomes  polluting;  go  to  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
or  a  qualified  workshop  without  delay  to  have  the Â
emissions
of  nitrous  oxides  brought  back  to  the  legal  level.
When refuelling, do not continue after the third cut-off of
the
 nozzle  to  avoid  any  overflow.
At
the  wheel  of  your  new  vehicle,  it  is  only  after  the  first Â
1
800  miles  (3  000  kilometres)  that  you  will  see  the  fuel Â
consumption
settle  down  to  a  consistent  average.

Vents
"Leave them open"
For  optimum  distribution  and  diffusion Â
of hot or cool air in the passenger
compartment,
 there  are  adjustable Â
central and side vents which can
be directed sideways (right or left)
or
vertically  (up  or  down).  For  your Â
comfort
while  driving,  do  not  close Â
them
and  direct  the  flow  of  air  towards Â
the
 windows  instead.

Do
not  block  the  vents  located  at  the Â
windscreen or the air extractor located
in
 the  boot.
dust filter, odour filter
(activated carbon)
This filter traps certain dust and limits odours.
Ensure
that  this  filter  is  in  good Â
condition
and  have  all  of  the  filter Â
elements
 replaced  regularly.
Refer to the "Checks" section of chapter 7.
Air conditioning
In all seasons, the air conditioning
should only be used with the windows
closed. However,  if  the  interior Â
temperature
 remains  high  after  a Â
prolonged
period  parked  in  the  sun,  do Â
not hesitate to ventilate the passenger
compartment
 for  a  few  minutes.
Use
 the Â
AUT
O  mode  as  much  as Â
possible
 as  it  permits  optimised Â
control
of  all  of  the  functions:  air  flow, Â
passenger
 compartment  comfort Â
temperature,
 air  distribution,  air Â
intake
mode  or  air  recirculation  in  the Â
passenger
 compartment.
Operate
the  air  conditioning  system  for Â
5
Â
to
Â
10
Â
minutes,
Â
once
Â
or
Â
twice
Â
a
Â
month,
Â
to
keep  it  in  good  working  order.
If
the  system  does  not  produce  cold  air, Â
do not use it and contact a CITR
o Ë n
dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
Automatic mode: visibility

Â
(AUTO)
Â
may
Â
not
Â
be
Â

Â
to
Â
quickly
Â
demist
Â
or
Â
defrost
Â
the
Â
windows
Â
(humidity,

Â

Â

In this case, select the visibility
programme.
Â
The
Â
visibility

indicator
Â
comes
Â
on.
It activates the air conditioning, the air
flow
Â
and
Â
provides
Â
optimum
Â
distribution
Â
of the ventilation to the windscreen and
side
Â
windows.
It
Â
deactivates
Â
the
Â
air
Â
recirculation. It
is  normal  that  the  condensation Â
created
by  the  air  conditioning  system Â
results
in  a  flow  of  water  which  may Â
form
a  puddle  under  the  vehicle  when Â
parked.

been running for a prolonged period
at
very  low  speed  or  at  idle,  you  may, Â
in
 exceptional  circumstances,  notice Â
the
emission  of  water  vapour  at  the Â
exhaust.
Â
This
 water  vapour  does  not Â
have any adverse ef
fect on vehicle
handling
 or  the  environment.
Battery
At the start of summer or winter, have your battery  checked  by  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
It  may  be  necessary  to Â
check
the  thickness  of  the  pads,  even Â
between
 services.
Unless
there  is  a  leak  on  the  circuit,  a Â
drop
in  the  brake  fluid  level  indicates Â
that
 the  brake  pads  are  worn.
Brake disc / drum wear
For information on checking the brake disc /  drum  wear,  contact  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
.
Parking brake
Where the parking brake travel is too great or there is a reduction in the
performance
 of  the  system,  the  parking
 brake
 should  be  adjusted,  even  between
 services.
Have
the  system  checked  by  a  CITROËN
 dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
Oil filter
Change the filter regularly in accordance with  the  manufacturer's Â
servicing
 schedule.
