Good practice
Sit in a normal upright position.
W ear  a  correctly  adjusted  seat  belt.
d
o not leave anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet,
 object...). Â
This
 could  hinder  the Â
operation
of  the  airbags  or  injure  the Â
occupants.
a
fter an accident or if the vehicle has
been
stolen  or  broken  into,  have  the Â
airbag
 systems  checked.
All
work  on  the  airbag  system  is  strictly Â
forbidden unless it is carried out by
qualified
 personnel  at  a  CITROËN Â
dealer
 or  a  qualified  workshop.
Even if all of the precautions
mentioned
are  observed,  a  risk  of Â
injury
or  of  minor  burns  to  the  head, Â
chest
or  arms  when  an  airbag  is Â
deployed
cannot  be  ruled  out.  In  fact, Â
the
bag  inflates  almost  instantly  (within Â
a
few  milliseconds)  then  deflates  within Â
the
same  time  discharging  the  hot  gas Â
via
openings  provided  for  this  purpose.Lateral airbags
Only
 put  recommended  covers  on Â
the
 seats. Â
These
 will  not  hinder Â
inflation
of  the  lateral  airbags.  Contact Â
a
CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
workshop.
Do
not  fix  or  attach  anything  to  the  seat Â
backs.
Â
This
could  cause  injury  to  the Â
chest
or  arms  when  the  lateral  airbag Â
inflates.
d
o not sit with the upper part of the
body any nearer to the door than
necessary.
Front airbags
d
o not drive holding the steering wheel
by
its  spokes  or  resting  your  hands  on Â
the
 centre  part  of  the  wheel.
d
o not allow passengers to place
their
feet  on  the  dashboard,  they  risk Â
serious
injury  if  the  airbag  is  deployed.
Smoke
as  little  as  possible  as Â
deployment
of  the  airbags  can  cause Â
burns
or  the  risk  of  injury  from  a Â
cigarette
 or  pipe.
Never
remove  or  pierce  the  steering Â
wheel
 or  hit  it  violently.
Airbags only operate when the
ignition is switched on.

occurs
Â
(during

Â
the
Â
airbag
Â
will
Â
not
Â
operate.

by

Â
due

Front airbags
The front airbags are fitted in the centre of the steering wheel for the
driver and in the dashboard for the
front passenger.
d
eployment
They are deployed, except the
passenger's front airbag if it has been
deactivated, in the event of a serious
front
impact  applied  to  all  or  part  of  the Â
front
impact  zone  A in the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal
plane
directed  from  the  front  towards Â
the
 rear  of  the  vehicle.
The
front  airbag  inflates  between  the Â
front occupant of the vehicle and the
dashboard to cushion their forward
movement.
d
eactivationo
nly the passenger's front airbag can
be  deactivated:
-
with the ignition switched off
,
insert
the  key  into  the  passenger's Â
front airbag deactivation switch,
-
turn it to the of
f "OFF" position,
-
Â
then
remove  the  key,  keeping  the Â
switch
 in  the  new  position.
The passenger's front
airbag
 warning  lamp  in  the Â
instrument
 panel  is  on  while Â
the
 airbag  is  deactivated.If
the  two  airbag  warning  lamps Â
are on continuously
, do not install
a rear-facing child seat, contact
a
CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
workshop.
Front airbag fault
T
o ensure the safety of your child,
it is essential to deactivate the
passenger's front airbag when you
install a rear-facing child seat on the
front
 passenger  seat.  Otherwise,  the Â
child
Â
would
Â
risk
Â
being
Â
kille
d Â
or
Â
seriously
Â
injured
if  the  airbag  were  to  inflate.
r
eactivation
In the "OFF" position, the passenger's
front airbag will not be deployed in the
event  of  an  impact.
As  soon  as  the  child  seat  is  removed, Â
turn the airbag switch to the
"O n "
position to re-activate the passenger's
front airbag and so ensure the safety
of your passenger in the event of an
impact.
If  this  warning  lamp  comes  on,
 accompanied  by  an Â
audible
 signal  and  a  message Â
in the screen, contact a
CITR
o Ë n dealer or a
qualified
 workshop  to  have Â
the
 system  checked.

" r earward facing"
When a "rearward facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat,
the
passenger's  front  airbag  must  be Â
deactivated.
 Otherwise  the child risks
being seriously injured or killed if
the airbag is deployed.
Adjust
 the  vehicle's  seat  to:
-
Â
the
fully  back  position,  with  the Â
backrest
 straightened  for  a  seat Â
without
 height  adjuster,
-
Â
the
fully  back  and  highest  position, Â
with
the  backrest  straightened  for  a Â
seat
 with  height  adjuster.
"Forward facing"
When a "forward facing" child seat
is installed on the front passenger
seat, the  passenger's  front  airbag  must Â
remain
 active.
Adjust
 the  vehicle's  seat  to:
-
Â
the
fully  back  position,  with  the Â
backrest
 straightened  for  a  seat Â
without

-
Â
the
 fully  back  position  and Â
highest
 position,  with  the  backrest Â
straightened for a seat with height
adjuster
. Ensure that the seat belt is
correctly
 tensioned.
For child seats with a support leg,
ensure that this is in steady contact
with
the  floor.  If  not,  adjust  the Â
passenger
 seat.
