Safety
Airbags
System designed to maximise the safety of the
occupants in the event of violent collisions. The
airbags supplement the action of the force-
limiting seat belts.
If a collision occurs, the electronic detectors record and analyse the front and side impacts sustained in the impact detection zones:
- in the case of a serious impact, the airbagsare deployed instantly and contribute
towards better protection of the occupants
of the vehicle; immediatel
y after the impact,
the airbags deflate rapidly so that theydo not hinder visibility or the exit of the
occupants,
- in the case o
f a minor or rear impact or incertain roll-over conditions, the airbags
will not be deployed; the seat belt alone
contributes towards providing your protection in these situations.
The airbags do not operate whenthe ignition is switched off.
This equipment will only deploy once.
If a second impact occurs (during thesame or a subsequent accident), theairbag will not be deployed again.
Deployment of the airbag(s) is accompanied by a slight emission of smoke and a noise, due to theactivation of the pyrotechnic cartridgeincorporated in the system. This smoke is not harmful, but sensitiveindividuals may experience slight irritation.
The noise of the detonation may result in a slight loss of hearing for a shorttime.

Front airbags
Deployment
The airbags are deployed simultaneously, unless
the passenger's front airbag is deactivated, in the event of a serious front impact to all or part of thefront impact zone A , in the longitudinal centreline of
the vehicle on a horizontal plane and directed from
the front to the rear of the vehicle.
The front airbag inflates between the thorax and head of the front occupant of the vehicle and thesteering wheel, driver's side, and the dashboard, passenger's side to cushion their for ward movement.
System which protects the driver and frontpassenger in the event of a serious front impact
in order to limit the risk of injury to the head and
thorax.
The driver's airbag is fitted in the centre of the steering wheel; the front passenger's airbag isfitted in the dashboard above the glove box.

Safety
Deactivation
This warning lamp comes on in theinstrument panel when the ignition is
on and until the airbag is reactivated.
To assure the safety of your child, the passenger's front airbag must be deactivated when you install a "rear facing" child seat on the front passenger seat.Other wise, the child would risk beingseriously injured or killed if the airbag were deployed.
If even one of the two airbag warning lamps comes on continuously, donot install a child seat on the frontpassenger seat.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.
Reactivation
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on in the
instrument panel, accompanied by an audible warning and a message in the
screen, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop to have the s
ystem checked. The airbags mayno longer be deployed in the event of a serious impact.
If this warning lamp flashes, contacta CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop. The passenger's front airbag may no longer be deployed in
the event of a serious impact.
Only the passenger's front airbag can be deactivated: )Inser t the key into the passenger airbag
deactivation switch, )turn it to the "OFF"position, )then, remove the key keeping the switch in
the new position.
When
you remove the child seat, with
the ignition on, turn the switch to the "ON"position to reactivate the airbag and so assure
the safety of your front passenger in the event
of an impact.

"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rear wards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat , it
is essential that the passenger airbag is
deactivated. Otherwise, the child wouldrisk being seriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate .
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is installedon the front passenger seat, adjust the
vehicle's seat to the intermediate longitudinalposition with the seat back upright and leave
the passenger airbag activated.

Child safety
The incorrect installation of a child seat in avehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack relative to the child's body to a minimum,
even for shor t journeys.
When installing a child seat using the seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is tightenedcorrectly on the child seat and that it secures the child seat firmly on the seat of your vehicle. If your passenger seat is adjustable, move it for wards if necessary.
For optimum installation of the "forwards-facing" child seat, ensure that the back of the child seat is in contact with the back of the vehicle's seat and that the head restraint does not cause any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be removed, ensure that it is stored or attached securely to prevent it from being thrown around the vehicle in the event of sharp braking.
Advice on child seats
As a safety precaution, do not leave: - a child or children alone and unsupervised in a vehicle, - a child or an animal in a vehicle whichis exposed to the sun, with the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle. To prevent accidental opening of the doors and rear windows, use the "Child lock". Take care not to open the rear windows bymore than one third. To protect young children from the rays of the sun, fit side blinds on the rear windows.
Children under the age of 10 must not travel in the "forwards-facing" position on the front passenger seat, unless the rear seats are already occupied by other children, cannot be used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag when a
"rearwards-facing" child seat is installed on the front seat. Other wise, the child would risk beingseriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate.
Installing a booster seat
The chest par t of the seat belt must be positioned on the child's shoulder without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt passes correctly over the child's thighs.
CITROËN recommends the use of a booster seat which has a back, fitted with a seat belt guide at shoulder level.

Ensure that the seat belt is correctly tensioned. For child seats with a support leg, ensure that the support leg is in stable contact with the floor. If necessary, adjust the passenger seat.
When a "rear ward facing" child seat is installed on the front passenger seat , adjust the seat to the intermediate longitudinal position, with the backrest straightened. The passenger's front airbag must be deactivated. Otherwise, the child would risk being seriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate .
When a "for ward facing" child seat is installed on the front passenger seat , adjust the vehicle's seat to the intermediate longitudinal position with seat backrest straightened and leave the passenger's front airbag activated.
* Refer to the current legislation in your country before installing your child on the front seat.

Child safety
The incorrect installation of a child seat in a vehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of an accident. Ensure that there is no seat belt or seat belt buckle under the child seat, as this could destabilise it. Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack relative to the child's body to a minimum, even for short journeys. When installing a child seat using the seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is tightened correctly on the child seat and that it secures the child seat firmly on the seat of your vehicle. If your passenger seat is adjustable, move it for wards if necessary. At rear seating positions, always leave sufficient space between the front seat and: - a "rear ward facing" child seat,
- the child's feet for a child seat fitted "forward facing". To do this, move the front seat for wards and, if necessary, move its backrest into the upright position.
Advice on child seats
Installing a booster seat For optimum installation of the "forward-facing" child seat, ensure that the back of the child seat is as close as possible to the backrest of the vehicle's seat, in contact if possible. You mst remove the head restraint before installing a child seat with backrest to a passenger seat. Ensure that the head restraint is stored or attached securely to prevent it from being thrown around the vehicle in the event of sharp braking. Refit the head restraint when the child seat is removed.
Children at the front
The legislation on carrying children on the front passenger seat is specific to each country. Refer to the legislation in force in
your country. Deactivate the passenger airbag when a "rear ward-facing" child seat is installed on the front seat. Otherwise, the child would risk being seriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate.
The chest part of the seat belt must be positioned on the child's shoulder without touching the neck. Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt passes correctly over the child's thighs. CITROËN recommends the use of a booster seat which has a back, fitted with a seat belt guide at shoulder level. As a safety precaution, do not leave: - a child or children alone and unsupervised in a vehicle, - a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with the windows closed, - the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
