Your vehicle has been approved in

These are three rings for each seat:
- two lower rings A , l o c a t e d
between the vehicle’s seat back

of the seat back at the bottom. The
ISOFIX child seats a r e fi t t e d
with two locks and/or a strap which
a r e s e c u r e d e a s i l y o n t h e s e r i n g s ,
indicated by labels or a mark on the
rear seat back panel.

This comes on each time the
ignition is switched on until

If this warning light comes on, with
the engine running, this indicates a

- check that the back of the bench seat is secured correctly.
REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS *
The rear head restraints can be re-
moved and have two positions:
- high, position for use.
- low, storage position.
To raise the head restraint, pull it up-
wards.
To lower it, press lug A then the head
restraint.
To remove it:
- tilt the seat back slightly,
- move the head restraint to the high position,
- press lug A pulling the head re-
straint upwards at the same
time.
T o r e fi t i t :
- tilt the seat back slightly,
- engage the rods of the head restraint in the openings.
To reach the low position, press lug A .
F o l d i n g t h e b a c k o f t h e b e n c h
seat:
The seat back is folded from the rear
of the vehicle, with the boot open:
- check that the seat belt is posi-
tioned correctly on the side of the
seat back to avoid damaging it,
- place the head restraints in the low position (see "rear head re-
straints"),
- while folding the seat back, pull the strap(s) A , located behind the
seat back.

When a "forwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front passenger
seat , adjust the vehicle’s seat to the
intermediate longitudinal position
with the seat back upright and leave
the passenger air bag armed.

air bag is disarmed. Otherwise, the

t o i n fl a t e .
CITROËN recommends that chil-
dren should travel in the rear seats
of your vehicle:
- " r e a r w a r d s - f a c i n g " up to the
age of 2,
- " f o r w a r d s - f a c i n g " over the age
of 2.

In accordance with the European regulation (Directive 2000/3), this table indicates the options for installing child seats secured
using a seat belt and universally approved in accor dance with the weight of the child and the seat in the vehicle.

ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a
child seat in a vehicle compromises
the child’s protection in the event of
an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or
the child seat harness k e e p i n g t h e
s l a c k in relation to the child’s body
to a minimum , even for short jour-
neys.
For optimum installation of the "for-
ward facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
with the back of the vehicle’s seat
and that the head restraint does not
cause any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
curely to prevent it from being thrown
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking. Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forward facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied
by other children, cannot be used or
are absent.
Disarm the passenger air bag when
a "rear facing" child seat is installed
on the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing seriously injured or killed if the air
b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- one or more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To protect young children from the
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
I n s t a l l i n g a b o o s t e r s e a t
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child’s shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child’s
thighs.
CITROËN recommends the use of
a b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t -
ted with a seat belt guide at shoulder
level.

SEAT BELTS Pretensioning front seat
belts with force limiter
Safety in the event of front
impacts has been improved
by means of the introduction of pre-
tensioning seat belts with force lim-
iter for the front seats. Depending on
the force of the impact, the preten-
sioning system instantly tightens the
seat belts and pulls them against the
body of the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt on the chest of the oc-
cupant, increasing his protection. 3-door
5-door
Rear seat belts
The rear seats are equipped with two
three-point inertia reel seat belts.
You can store the seat belt buckles in
the housing
A .
Fastening/Unfastening the seat
belts
Pull the strap, then insert the buckle
into the stalk.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
To unfasten the seat belts, press the
button on the stalk.

SAFETY The driver must ensure that
the passengers use the seat
belts correctly and that they
are all properly restrained
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
If the seats have armrests * , the lap
part of the seat belt must always
pass under the armrest.
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
reel permitting automatic adjustment of
the length of the strap to your size. The
seat belt is stored automatically when
not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is rolled up correctly.
The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on the
pelvis.
The upper part must be positioned in
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
into operation in the event of a colli-
sion, on emergency braking or if the
vehicle rolls over. You can release
the device by pulling rapidly on the
strap and releasing it. In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the
body as possible,
- must restrain one adult only,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- must be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking
that it does not twist,
- must not be transformed or m o d i fi e d t o a v o i d a l t e r i n g i t s
performance.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, all repairs and checks
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer who guarantees that the work
is carried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regularly
by a CITROËN dealer and particularly if
the straps show signs of damage.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by CITROËN dealers.
After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and rolled up correctly. Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the
passenger is less than 12 years
o l d o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- do not use the strap-guide * when a child seat is installed.
- never use the same seat belt to secure more than one person,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap.
Depending on the nature and seri-
ousness of the impacts, the pre-ten-
sioning device may be triggered before
and independently of the air bags. Trig-
gering of the pre-tensioners is accom-
panied by a slight emission of harmless
smoke and a noise, due to the activation
of the pyrotechnic cartridge incorporated
in the system.
In all cases, the air bag warning light
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat belts
system checked, and if necessary re-
placed, by a CITROËN dealer.
