WARNING LAMPS
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Parking brake fi x e d . The parking brake is
applied or not properly
released. Release the parking brake to switch off the warnin
g
lamp, keeping your foot on the brake pedal.
Observe the safety recommendations.
For further information on the parking brake, refer
to the "Safety" section.

with another
warning lamp. It is associated with
the engine oil pressure
or the engine coolant
temperature. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a CITROËN

Engine oil
pressure fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d
with the STOP warning lamp. The engine oil pressure
is too low. Stop as soon it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and contact a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Braking fi x e d .
The braking system

Anti-lock
Braking
System (ABS) fi x e d .
The anti-lock braking
system has a fault. The vehicle retains conventional braking.
Drive carefully at reduced speed and contact a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p w i t h o u t
delay.
Electronic
stability
programme (
ASR
/
ESP
) fi x e d .
The ASR/ESP system is
in action. The system optimises traction and improves
the directional stability of the vehicle.
fi x e d .
The ASR/ESP system
has a fault. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Coolant
temperature fi x e d . The temperature of the
engine coolant is too
high. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Wait until the engine has cooled down before
checking up the level; top up if necessary.
If the problem persists, contact a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Airbags temporarily.
This lamp comes on for
a few seconds when you
turn on the ignition, then
goes off. This lamp should go off when the engine is
started.
If it does not go off, contact a CITROËN dealer
o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
fl a s h i n g . At least one of the
airbags has a fault. The airbags may not be deployed in the event of
a serious impact. Have it checked by a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .

CHECKS
CHECKING THE LEVELS
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = maximum
I f y o u fi l l p a s t t h i s
mark, contact a
CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
B = minimum
Never allow the level to
fall below this mark.
Dipstick
Oil change
According to the information given in
the servicing booklet. Changing the brake fluid
T h e b r a k e fl u i d m u s t b e c h a n g e d a t
the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.

m a n u f a c t u r e r , w h i c h f u l fi l D O T 4
standards.
Windscreen wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you
use products recommended by your
manufacturer.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Oil viscosity grade
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements. Cooling system
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

very corrosive.
To maintain the reliability of
engines and emission control systems, the use of additives
in engine oil is prohibited. S l a c k e n t h e c a p b y 1 / 4 o f a
turn to release the pressure
to prevent any risk of
scalding. When the pressure
has dropped, remove the cap and
top up the level. O n l y u s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m -
mended by the manufacturer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously
damaging your engine.
Do not dispose of used oil,
b r a k e fl u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o
drains or into the ground.
Empty the used oil into the
containers provided for this
purpose in the CITROËN dealer
n e t w o r k o r a t a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p
(France) or at an authorised waste
disposal site.
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top up
between changes. The maximum oil
consumption is 0.5 litre per 600 miles
(1 000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
engine cold, using the dipstick.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is
controlled by the engine fan. As this
fan can operate with the ignition key
removed and because the cooling
system is pressurised, wait for at
least one hour after the engine has
stopped before carrying out any
work.
