In the event of an emergency only, the engine can  be  switched  of  without  conditions.  To  do Â

his,  press  for  more  than  2  seconds,  or  make Â

 minimum  of  3  successive  presses  on  the Â
"ST
ART/STOP "
 button.
In
 this  case  the  steering  column  locks  as  soon Â

s  the  vehicle  stops.
Electronic key not
recognised
If the electronic key is no longer in the recognition  zone  when  driving  or  when  you Â
(
later)  request  switching  off  the  engine,  there  is Â

n  audible  signal  to  warn  you.

This locks the engine management system as s
oon  as  the  ignition  has  been  switched  off  and Â

herefore  prevents  starting  of  the  vehicle  by Â

nyone  who  does  not  have  the  key.
The
 ignition  key  has  an  electronic  chip  which Â
h
as  a  special  code.  When  the  ignition  is Â
s
witched  on,  the  code  must  be  recognised  for Â
s
tarting  to  be  possible.
In
 the  event  of  a  malfunction,  your  vehicle  will Â
n
ot  start.
Contact
 a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
w
orkshop. Do
 not  make  any  modifications  to  the Â
e
lectronic  immobiliser  system.

Temporarily taking control of
gear changes
You can temporarily take control of gear changes  using  the  "+" and  "-" steering
Â
m
ounted  control  paddles.
Gear
 change  commands  are  only  acted  on  if Â
t
he  engine  speed  allows.  There  is  an  audible Â
s
ignal  if  a  command  is  not  accepted.
The
 gear  engaged  is  displayed  in  the Â
in
strument
 pan
el.
This function allows you to anticipate certain
situations
 such  as  overtaking  a  vehicle  or Â
a
pproaching  a  corner.
After
 a  few  moments  with  no  action  on  the Â
c
ontrols,  the  gearbox  returns  to  automatic Â
c
ontrol  of  the  gears. It
 is  possible  to  change  mode  at  any  time,  by Â
m
oving  the  gear  selector  from  position  E to
position M
 and  the  other  way  round.
Never select neutral N when the vehicle
is
 moving.

Manual mode
Under sharp acceleration, the gearbox will not  change  up  without  action  by  the  driver  on Â
t
he  gear  selector  or  steering  mounted  control Â
p
addles  (unless  the  engine  speed  is  close  to Â
m
aximum).
To
 engage  reverse,  the  vehicle  must  be Â
s
tationary  with  your  foot  on  the  brake  pedal.

Operation

This indicator lamp comes on in the instrument  panel  and  the  engine Â

 global  time  counter  counts  the  periods  in Â

TOP  mode  since  the  last  reset.
When
 it  is  displayed,  press  one  of  the Â

The speed limiter cannot, in any circumstances,  replace  the  need  to o
bserve  speed  limits,  nor  can  it  replace  the
 n
eed  for  vigilance  on  the  part  of  the  driver.
Speed limiter (PureTech 82 engine)
The speed limiter is switched on manually: t
his  can  be  done  whatever  the  speed  of  the Â
v
ehicle.  However,  if  you  are  driving  at  less  than Â
2
0  mph  (30  km/h),  the  programmed  speed  will Â
b
e  fixed  at  20  mph  (30  km/h).
The
 speed  limiter  is  paused by operation of the
control.
The
 programmed  speed  can  be  exceeded Â
t
emporarily  by  pressing  the  accelerator  firmly Â
b
eyond  the  point  of  resistance.
To
 return  to  the  programmed  speed,  simply Â
r
elease  the  accelerator  pedal  until  the  vehicle Â
r
eturns  to  the  programmed  speed  limit.

Lane departure warning system
System which detects the unintended crossing of longitudinal traffic lane markings on the ground, using a camera that recognises both solid and broken  lines.
To
 improve  your  safety,  the  camera  analyses  the  image  and  then  triggers  a  warning  if  the  vehicle  wanders  over  a  lane  marking  (speed  higher  than Â
3
0 mph  (50  km/h)).
This
 system  is  particularly  suitable  for  motor ways  and  dual  carriageways.
The
