Situations where the engine does not shut down:
Before shutting down the engine, the system automatically and instantly checks that a certain number of conditions touching on safety, cabin comfort or engine protection are met .
For example, the engine will not shut down, or it will restart by itself: W i t h i n t h e f e w m i n u t e s f o l l o w i n g fi r s t s t a r t i n g ( e n g i n e c o l d ) .
I f t h e t e m p e r a t u r e i n t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t i s i n s u f fi c i e n t : I n c o n d i t i o n s o f e x t r e m e o u t s i d e t e m p e r a t u r e s ( l o w e r t h a n - 1 0 ° C , h i g h e r t h a n + 3 0 ° C ) , p r o v i d e d t h e a i r c o n d i t i o n -ing is operating.More generally, if the ambient conditions and the temperature programmed for the air conditioning make it nec-essary for the engine to be running in order to produce eithe r warm or cold air.If you have activated windscreen demisting/deicing.In the event of a prolonged stop on a steep incline, in order to maintain the vehicle's braking capability.

Deactivation of the "Stop & Start" system:
You can if you wish deactivate the "Stop & Start" system, by pressing the "ECO OFF" button located on the left hand side on the central panel.
The warning lamp on the button then comes on, and your vehi cle functions like an ordinary vehicle.
You can reactivate the system with another press on the "ECO OFF" button: The warning lamp on the button goes out.Note: The "Stop & Start" system reactivates automatically each time you restart the vehicle.
Batteries
T o o p e r a t e c o r r e c t l y , t h e s y s t e m r e q u i r e s a s p e c i fi c b a t t e r y a n d a l s o a s m a l l a d d i t i o n a l b a t t e r y w h i c h i s s i t u a t e d u n d e r one of the front seats.
For a change of battery, consult a CITROËN dealer.
Remark:
I f t h e r e i s a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e " S t o p & S t a r t " s y s t e m , t h e " E C O " w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s b r i e fl y , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n audible alert. The "ECO OFF" warning lamp lights up.
Contact a CITROËN dealer.
If the engine is in shutdown mode, it can restart at any moment.
Before taking any action under the bonnet, it is imperativ e to switch off the ignition.
Before leaving the vehicle, it is also essential to switch off the ignition.

Parking brake
The parking brake is actioned by pulling on the lever with a force appropriate to any slope.
To facilitate the action on the lever, you are recommended t o press the brake pedal at the same time.
I n a l l c i r c u m s t a n c e s , a s a p r e c a u t i o n a r y m e a s u r e , e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r .
On steep gradients, turn the steering towards the pavement.
To release the brake, pull the lever lightly up, press the button on the end of the lever and return the lever to the fully down position.
Parking brake released
T h e l i g h t i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p i n d i c a t e s t h a t t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i s i n s u f fi c i e n t o r t h a t t h e b r a k i n g d i s t r i b u -tor is malfunctionning.
It is essential to stop the vehicle.
Consult a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.
Note: The warning lamp comes on if the parking brake is on or not fu lly released when you switch the ignition on.Note: The lighting of this warning lamp indicates that the parking brake is on or not fully released while the engine is running (at a speed above approximately 5 km/h).

This system is associated with the ABS and in addition to the ABS. In the event of a loss of control of the vehicle by the driver, the ESP system acts automatically on one or more wheels and also on the engine to bring the vehicle back on trajectory.
Operation
T h e E S P w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s i n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l i f t h e E S P s y s t e m i s correcting the vehicle's trajectory.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (vehicle stuck in snow, soft ground, e tc.) it may prove useful to deactivate the ESP systems to allow the wheels to spin and thus regain traction.Press button A.
The warning lamp associated with control A (ESP Off) lights up, as does the ESP warning lamp on the instrument panel.
The ESP system is no longer active.
The ESP system reactivates:Automatically after the ignition has been switched off.
Automatically when you drive at above approx. 50 k m / h ( a p p r o x . 3 0 m p h ) ( A c c o r d i n g t o v e r s i o n ) .Manually with another press on button A.
Operational anomaly
If the system is malfunctioning, the warning lamp ESP lights up in the instrument panel.
Contact a CITROËN dealer to have the system checked.
The ESP system offers increased driving safety but is not in place to encourage the driver to take additional risks or to drive at excessive speeds.

Temporary override of the cruise speed
While cruise control is in operation, it is always possible to go above the cruise speed simply by pressing the ac cel-erator pedal (for example to overtake another vehic le). T h e s p e e d d i s p l a y e d fl a s h e s . Y o u h a v e o n l y t o r e l e a s e t h e accelerator pedal to return to your cruise speed.
Remark: If during cruise control the system cannot keep to the cruise speed (e.g. on a steep descent), then the speed fl a s h e s . I f n e c e s s a r y , b r a k e t o c u r b y o u r s p e e d .
Adjustment of the memorised speed while cruise control is in operation
To adjust the memorised speed, displayed in zone B, press:Button 4 to increase the speed.Button 2 to decrease the speed.
Remark: Successive presses will modify the cruise speed i n s t e p s o f 1 k m / h a n d a c o n t i n u o u s p r e s s i n s t e p s o f 5 k m / h ( 3 m p h ) .
Disengagement of the memorised cruise speed.Either by pressing the brake pedal or the clutch pedal.Or by the ESP system being active.
Or by pressing button 3.Note: Cruise control is deactivated if the gear lever is in neutral (position N)
Reactivation of cruise controlBy recalling the memorised speed:
Following a disengagement, press on control 3.Your vehicle automatically resumes the memorised cruise speed, which then displays on the screen in instrument panel B.
By selecting the current speed:
Give a short press on button 2 or 4, once the desired speed is reached.The information “OFF” then disappears from the dis-play.
If the memorised cruise speed is higher than the current speed, the vehicle will accelerate to match it.
To cancel the functionBy moving the control from the “CRUISE” position to the 0 position.Or stop the engine.
The speed that was chosen is no longer memorised.
Remark:
While cruise control is in operation, the displayed speed fl a s h e s i f t h e m e m o r i s e d s p e e d i s e x c e e d e d .
If there is a malfunction, either the memorised speed or t h e d a s h e s “ - - - ” w i l l fl a s h a n d t h e w a r n i n g l a m p “OFF” will come on permanently in the display.
Contact a CITROËN dealer.
These actions bring up the informa-tion “OFF” in the instrument panel display.
These actions do not cancel the cruise speed which remains displayed.
The driver still has to remain attentive and in complete control of his vehicle.
You are recommended to keep your feet within range of the pedals.

This driving assistance function enables you to select a maximum speed that you wish not to exceed. This must be greater than 30.
Control A for the speed limiter is situated below the lighting/signalling con-trol stalk.
Remark: The information relating to the speed limiter is displayed in the instrument panel screen at B. This display causes the trip computer infor-mation to disappear (if it is shown on the instrument panel).
To select the function
Turn control 1 to position “LIMIT”.
On selection of the function via control 1, the last speed memorised is displayed.
To adjust the maximum speed
When the engine is running, you can adjust the memorised spee d by either short presses or long presses on:Button 4 to increase the memorised speed.
Button 2 to decrease the memorised speed.
Remark: Successive presses will modify the cruise speed in steps of 1 km/h a n d a c o n t i n u o u s p r e s s i n s t e p s o f 5 k m / h ( 3 m p h ) .
Activation of the maximum speed
As the desired maximum speed is displayed, press control 3 to activate the speed limitation.
The information “OFF” then disappears from the dis-play.
While the function is active, actioning the accelerator pedal will not permit the programmed speed to be exceeded, unless you press t he pedal hard down past the tight spot. See “Temporary override of the maximum speed”.
Remark: The vehicle speed may vary slightly from that memo rised.

Disengagement of the maximum speed
Press button 3 located on the end of control A.
This action causes the information “OFF” to appear in the instrument panel screen.
The memorised speed remains displayed and is not cancelled.
Temporary override of the maximum speed
At any time, it is possible to go above the memorised maximum speed by pressing the accelerator pedal hard down past the tight spot.
W h i l e t h e m e m o r i s e d s p e e d i s b e i n g e x c e e d e d , t h e d i s p l a y e d s p e e d fl a s h e s .
You have only to release the accelerator pedal to return below the maximum speed, to restore the function.
Remark: If during speed limitation the system cannot keep to the maxi mum speed (especially on a steep descent or i f y o u a c c e l e r a t e t o o h a r d ) , t h e s p e e d fl a s h e s . A d a p t y o u r s p e e d a s n e c e s s a r y .
The function will re-engage when your speed has returned below the desired maximum.
To cancel the functionBy moving the control from position “LIMIT” to position 0.Or stop the engine.
The speed that you chose is memorised.

It will then be impossible to exceed the chosen speed, except by an action on the controls under the steering wheel.
The driver still has to remain attentive and in complete control of his vehicle.

Demisting - Defrosting
Distribution from the air blower can be altered at will by plac-ing the distributor 1 in an intermediate position.
Air recirculation
This position is useful for excluding undesirable odours or fumes coming from outside. It should be cancelled as soon as possible in order to permit renewal of air in the cabin and to prevent misting.

Air inlet
Check that the exterior grille for the air inlet, at the bot-tom of the windscreen, is clean and free of dead leaves, snow, etc.
If washing the vehicle with a high pressure jet, avoid targeting the air inlet zone.
Air vents
The air vents to the face (except the central air vent) h a v e g r i l l e s f o r o r i e n t i n g t h e fl o w o f a i r ( u p - d o w n , r i g h t -left).
Air circulation
For your comfort we advise you to maintain a proper distribution of air within the cabin, both at the front and at the rear.
Air outlets are also located on the central console close to the gear lever, to enhance comfort for the rear pas-sengers.

Air conditioning
Whatever the time of year, even in cool weather the air conditioning is useful in removing humidity and misting.
To keep the air conditioning compressor well sealed, it is essential to operate the air conditioning at least once in every month.
To be effective, the air conditioning should only be used with the windows closed.
If you are towing a heavy trailer and outside tempera-tures are high, the air conditioning may be temporarily paused if the engine cooling requires this.
Water arising from condensation in the air conditioning system is evacuated through a hole provided for this purpose ; a pool of water may thus form underneath the vehicle when stationary.
You are advised to have the air conditioning system checked on a regular basis. See “Maintenance Guide”.
The air conditioning operates by using power from the engine. This results in a slight increase in fuel con-sumption.
