children should travel in the rear
seats of your vehicle:
- "rearwards-facing" up to
the age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the
age of 2. * The rules for carrying children are

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
A l t h o u g h o n e o f C I T R O Ë N ' s m a i n c r i -
teria when designing your vehicle, the
safety of your children also depends on
you.
F o r m a x i m u m s a f e t y , p l e a s e o b s e r v e
t h e f o l l o w i n g r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s :
- in accordance with European re- gulations, all children under the
age of 12 or less than one and a
half metres tall must travel in ap-
proved child seats suited to their
weight , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t
b e l t o r I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for carrying children
are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
and in the rear. "Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
a d j u s t t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t t o t h e i n t e r m e -
diate longitudinal position with the seat
b a c k u p r i g h t a n d l e a v e t h e p a s s e n g e r
a i r b a g a c t i v a t e d .
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
i t i s e s s e n t i a l t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r a i r b a g
i s d e a c t i v a t e d . O t h e r w i s e , the child
would risk being seriously injured or
k i l l e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- a child or children alone and un-supervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- t h e k e y s w i t h i n r e a c h o f c h i l d r e n inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
" C h i l d l o c k " .

Installing a booster seat
T h e c h e s t p a r t o f t h e s e a t b e l t m u s t

w i t h o u t t o u c h i n g t h e n e c k .
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.

The incorrect installation of a child
s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o m i s e s t h e
c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n
accident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
t h e c h i l d s e a t h a r n e s s e s k e e p i n g t h e
s l a c k r e l a t i v e t o t h e c h i l d ' s b o d y t o a
m i n i m u m , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
When installing a child seat using the
s e a t b e l t , e n s u r e t h a t t h e s e a t b e l t i s
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
t h e b a c k o f t h e c h i l d s e a t i s i n c o n t a c t
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
s h a r p b r a k i n g .

is attached to ring B .
To attach this strap, raise the vehicle
s e a t ' s h e a d r e s t r a i n t t h e n p a s s t h e h o o k
b e t w e e n i t s r o d s . T h e n fi x t h e h o o k o n
ring B and tighten the upper strap.
