MONITORING
Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f
intentionally.
This is accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front
airbag is deactivated.
In this case you can install
a "rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g . I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a
child seat in the rear-facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into
service automatically when the vehicle is started
( ON position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at
the bottom left of the
dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The ESP/ASR is
deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp switches off.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h), the
system is reactivated automatically.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.

Opening
After unlocking the vehicle using the
remote control or the key, pull the
handle and raise the tailgate.
Closing
Lower the tailgate using the interior
grab handle. -

Tailgate release
System for mechanical unlocking of the
boot in the event of a battery or central
locking malfunction.
Unlocking
Fold back the rear benchseat to
gain access to the lock from inside
the boot.
Insert a small screwdriver into hole A
of the lock to unlock the tailgate.
If the tailgate is not closed correctly:
Emergency control
To lock or unlock the doors manually in
the event of a malfunction of the central
locking system or failure of the battery.
Locking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the left.
Unlocking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the right.
Remove the black cap, located on
the edge of the door, using the key.
Insert the key in the recess, then
turn it as far as it will go. Unlocking the front and rear
passenger doors
Pull the interior door opening con-
trol.

children should travel in the rear
seats of your vehicle:
- "rearwards-facing" up to
the age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the
age of 2. * The rules for carrying children are
s p e c i fi c t o e a c h c o u n t r y . R e f e r t o t h e
current legislation in your country.
GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
A l t h o u g h o n e o f C I T R O Ë N ' s m a i n c r i -
teria when designing your vehicle, the
safety of your children also depends on
you.
F o r m a x i m u m s a f e t y , p l e a s e o b s e r v e
t h e f o l l o w i n g r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s :
- in accordance with European re- gulations, all children under the
age of 12 or less than one and a
half metres tall must travel in ap-
proved child seats suited to their
weight , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t
b e l t o r I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for carrying children
are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
and in the rear. "Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
a d j u s t t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t t o t h e i n t e r m e -
diate longitudinal position with the seat
b a c k u p r i g h t a n d l e a v e t h e p a s s e n g e r
a i r b a g a c t i v a t e d .
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
i t i s e s s e n t i a l t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r a i r b a g
i s d e a c t i v a t e d . O t h e r w i s e , the child
would risk being seriously injured or
k i l l e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- a child or children alone and un-supervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- t h e k e y s w i t h i n r e a c h o f c h i l d r e n inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
" C h i l d l o c k " .

w i n d o w s b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
T o p r o t e c t y o u n g c h i l d r e n f r o m t h e

Installing a booster seat

w i t h o u t t o u c h i n g t h e n e c k .
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.

The incorrect installation of a child

When installing a child seat using the
s e a t b e l t , e n s u r e t h a t t h e s e a t b e l t i s
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
t h e b a c k o f t h e c h i l d s e a t i s i n c o n t a c t
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
s h a r p b r a k i n g .

- two rings

is attached to ring B .
To attach this strap, raise the vehicle
s e a t ' s h e a d r e s t r a i n t t h e n p a s s t h e h o o k
b e t w e e n i t s r o d s . T h e n fi x t h e h o o k o n
ring B and tighten the upper strap.
