It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is pressed.

Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
T h e a n t i - s k i d r e g u l a t i o n ( a l s o k n o w n
a s T r a c t i o n C o n t r o l ) o p t i m i s e s t r a c t i o n
t o p r e v e n t s k i d d i n g o f t h e w h e e l s , b y
acting on the brakes of the driving
wheels and on the engine.
T h e e l e c t r o n i c s t a b i l i t y p r o g r a m m e a c t s
o n t h e b r a k e o f o n e o r m o r e w h e e l s a n d
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
t r a j e c t o r y r e q u i r e d b y t h e d r i v e r , w i t h i n
t h e l i m i t s o f t h e l a w s o f p h y s i c s .
Activation
T h e s e s y s t e m s a r e a c t i v a t e d a u t o m a t i -
c a l l y e a c h t i m e t h e v e h i c l e i s s t a r t e d .
T h e y c o m e i n t o o p e r a t i o n i n t h e e v e n t

I n e x c e p t i o n a l c o n d i t i o n s ( s t a r t i n g a
v e h i c l e w h i c h i s b o g g e d d o w n , s t u c k
i n s n o w , o n s o f t g r o u n d . . . ) , i t m a y b e
advisable to deactivate the ASR and
E S P s y s t e m s , s o t h a t t h e w h e e l s c a n
m o v e f r e e l y a n d r e g a i n g r i p .
Press the "ESP OFF" b u t t o n , l o c a t e d
on the left below the steering wheel.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n i n t h e i n s t r u -
m e n t p a n e l a n d t h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n t h e
b u t t o n c o m e s o n , t h i s i n d i c a t e s t h a t t h e
A S R a n d E S P s y s t e m s a r e d e a c t i v a t e d .
Reactivation
T h e s e s y s t e m s a r e r e a c t i v a t e d a u t o m a t -
i c a l l y e a c h t i m e t h e i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d
b a c k o n o r f r o m 3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) .

AIRBAGS
The airbags do not operate when
the ignition is switched off.

o n c e . I f a s e c o n d i m p a c t o c c u r s
( d u r i n g t h e s a m e o r a s u b s e -
q u e n t a c c i d e n t ) , t h e a i r b a g w i l l

ence slight irritation.

the centre of the steering wheel; the

in the dashboard above the glove box.

DRIVING
PARKING BRAKE
When parking on a slope, direct
your wheels against the pave-
ment, apply the parking brake
and engage a gear.
Applying
Pull the parking brake lever fully up
to immobilise your vehicle. Releasing
Pull the parking brake lever gently,
press the release button then lower
the lever fully.
When the vehicle is being dri-
ven, if this warning lamp and
the STOP warning lamp come
on, accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function screen, this indicates that the
parking brake is still on or has not been
properly released.
6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
Engaging reverse gear
Raise the ring under the knob and
push the gear lever to the left then
forwards.
As a safety precaution and to fa-
cilitate starting of the engine:
- always select neutral,
- press the clutch pedal. Only engage reverse gear when
the vehicle is stationary with the
engine at idle.

System which prevents the vehicle from

the driver.
When the programmed speed limit is
reached, pressing the accelerator pedal
in the normal manner no longer has any
effect.
The speed limiter is switched on man-
ually: it requires a programmed speed
o f a t l e a s t 2 0 m p h ( 3 0 k m / h ) .
The speed limiter is switched off by
manual operation of the control.
The programmed speed can be
e x c e e d e d t e m p o r a r i l y b y p r e s s i n g t h e
a c c e l e r a t o r fi r m l y .
To return to the programmed speed,
simply slow down to a speed below the
programmed speed.
The programmed speed remains in the
memory when the ignition is switched
off.
The speed limiter cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can
it replace the need for vigilance
and responsibility on the part of
