COMFORT
AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING
The air conditioning can only operate
when the engine is running. For your comfort, when the en-
gine is switched off, the settings
are retained until the engine is
switched on again.
To prevent too great a distribu-
tion of cold air when the engine
i s c o l d , t h e a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h
its optimum level gradually.
On entering the vehicle, if the
interior is very cold or hot, there
is no need to change the value
displayed in order to reach the
required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature
difference automatically and as
quickly as possible.
Automatic operation
1. Automatic "comfort" programme
Press the "AUTO" button. The
"AUTO" symbol is displayed.
We recommend that you use this mode,
it provides optimised automatic control
of all of the following functions: passen-
g e r c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w ,
air distribution and air intake, in accord-
ance with the comfort value that you
have chosen.
This system is designed to operate ef-
fectively in all seasons, with the windows
closed. 2. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
Press the "
" and "
" but-
tons to change this value. A
setting around the value 21
enables optimum comfort to be
obtained. However, depending
on your requirements, a setting
between 18 and 24 is usual. 3. Automatic "visibility" programme
The automatic comfort pro-
g r a m m e m a y n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t
for rapid demisting or defrost-
ing of the windscreen and side
windows (humidity, several
passengers, ice, etc.).
In this case, select the automatic visibil-
ity programme. The button 3 indicator
lamp comes on.
The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g a n d t h e fl o w o f a i r a n d
provides optimum distribution of the ven-
tilation to the windscreen and side win-
dows. It deactivates air recirculation 5 .
To exit this programme, press button 3
again or "AUTO" , the indicator lamp on
the button is switched off and "AUTO"
is displayed.
Manual override
It is possible to adjust one or more func-
tions manually while leaving the other
functions in automatic mode.
The "AUTO" symbol switches off.
To return to automatic mode, press the
"AUTO" button.
Switching to manual mode may
not be suitable (temperature,
humidity, odour, condensation)
and does not provide optimum
comfort.

4. Air conditioning on/off Press this button to switch off
the air conditioning.
Stopping the air conditioning may cause
some problems (humidity, misting).
Automatic operation of the air condi-
tioning is resumed when the button is
pressed again. The symbol "A/C" is
displayed.
5. Air intake/Air recirculation
Press this button for recircula-
tion of the interior air. The air
recirculation symbol 5 is dis-
played.
Air recirculation enables the passenger
compartment to be isolated from exte-
rior odours and smoke. 6. Air distribution adjustment
Avoid prolonged recirculation of
interior air (risk of condensation
or deterioration of the air quality).
Pressing this button several
times in succession enables
t h e a i r fl o w t o b e d i r e c t e d i n
turn towards:
- the windscreen and the side win- dows (de-icing or demisting),
- the windscreen, side windows and air vents,
- the windscreen, the side windows, the air vents and the footwells,
- the windscreen, the side windows and the footwells,
- the footwells,
- the air vents and the footwells,
- the air vents. 7. Air flow adjustment
Press the "full fan" symbol to
i n c r e a s e t h e a i r fl o w .
T h e a i r fl o w s y m b o l , t h e f a n , fi l l s p r o -
gressively according to the value re-
quested.
Switching the system off
Avoid driving for long periods
with the air conditioning switched
off (risk of misting and reduction
of the air quality in the cabin). P r e s s t h e a i r fl o w
"empty fan"
b u t t o n o f a i r fl o w 7 until the fan
symbol disappears.
This action switches off all of the func-
tions of the air conditioning system.
Thermal comfort is no longer control-
l e d . A s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r r e s u l t i n g f r o m t h e
movement of the vehicle, remains per-
ceptible however.
P r e s s i n g t h e a i r fl o w "full fan" button of
a i r fl o w 7 or on "AUTO" reactivates the
system with the values set before it was
switched off. Press the
"empty fan" symbol
t o d e c r e a s e t h e a i r fl o w .
For maximum cooling or heating
of the cabin, it is possible to go
beyond the minimum 14 or maxi-
mum 28 values.
Press the blue button 2 until
"LO" is displayed or the red
button 2 until "HI" is displayed. Press this button again or press the
"AUTO" button to resume automatic
management of the intake of air. The
air recirculation symbol 5 is switched
off. The air recirculation symbol 5 is
switched off.

VISIBILITY
LIGHTING CONTROLS
System for selection and control of the
various front and rear lamps providing
the vehicle's lighting.
Main lighting
The various front and rear lamps of the
vehicle are designed to adapt the driver's
visibility progressively according to cli-
matic conditions:
- sidelamps, to be seen,
- dipped beam headlamps to see without dazzling other drivers,
- main beam headlamps to see clearly when the road is clear.
Additional lighting
O t h e r l a m p s a r e i n s t a l l e d t o f u l fi l t h e
requirements of particular conditions of
visibility:
- a rear foglamp,
- front foglamps.
Programming
Various automatic lighting control
modes are also available according to
the following options:
- guide-me-home lighting,
- automatic lighting. Model without AUTO lighting
Model with AUTO lighting lamps off,
automatic switching on
of the lamps,
sidelamps only,
dipped headlamps or
main beam headlamps.
B. Stalk for switching headlamps by
pulling: dipped headlamps/main
beam headlamps.
In the lamps off and sidelamps modes, the
driver can switch on the main beam head-
l a m p s t e m p o r a r i l y ( " h e a d l a m p fl a s h " ) b y
maintaining a pull on the stalk.
Displays
Lighting of the corresponding indicator
l a m p o n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l c o n fi r m s
the selective switching on of the lighting
selected.
Depending on the version, the instrument
panel may have permanent back-lighting.
In this case, illumination of the instrument
panel is not linked to the exterior lighting.
Manual controls
The lighting commands are issued di-
rectly by the driver by means of the

A and the stalk B .
