ACCESS
Manual centralised control
System which provides full manual
locking or unlocking of the doors from
the inside.
Locking
Press button A to lock the vehicle.
The red indicator lamp on the button
comes on.
If one of the doors is open, cen-
tral locking from the inside does
not take place.
Unlocking
Press button A again to unlock the
vehicle.
The red indicator lamp on the button
switches off. If the vehicle is locked from the
outside, the red indicator lamp
fl a s h e s a n d b u t t o n
A is inactive.
In this case, use the remote
control or the key to unlock
the vehicle.
Automatic centralised control
System which provides full automatic
locking or unlocking of the doors and
the boot while driving.
You can activate or deactivate this function.
Locking
When the speed exceeds 6 mph
(10 km/h), the doors and the boot lock
automatically. If one of the doors is open, the
automatic central locking does
not take place.
If the boot is open, the automatic
central locking of the doors is ac-
tive.
Unlocking
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), press but-
ton A to unlock the doors and the
boot temporarily. Activation
Press button A for more than
two seconds.

Emergency control
System which locks or unlocks the
doors mechanically in the event of a
malfunction of the battery or of the cen-
tral locking.
Locking the driver's door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the right.
Unlocking the driver's door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the left.
Locking the front and rear
passenger doors
Insert the key in the lock, located on
the edge of the door, then turn it one
eighth of a turn .
Unlocking the front and rear
passenger doors
Pull the interior door opening control.
BOOT
Opening
After unlocking the vehicle using the
remote control or the key, pull the
handle and raise the tailgate.
Closing
Lower the tailgate using the interior
grab handle.
If the tailgate is not closed correctly:
- when the engine is run-
ning , this warning lamp
comes on, accompanied
by a message on the mul-
tifunction screen for a few
seconds,
- when the vehicle is moving (speed
above 6 mph (10 km/h)), this warn-
ing lamp comes on, accompanied
by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen for a few
seconds. Tailgate release
System for mechanical unlocking of the
boot in the event of a battery or central
locking malfunction.
Unlocking
Fold back the rear benchseat to
gain access to the lock from inside
the boot.
Insert a small screwdriver into hole A
of the lock to unlock the tailgate.

Version without Zenith windscreen
Front side reading lamps
W i t h t h e i g n i t i o n o n , t h e fi r s t p r e s s o f
the corresponding switch switches
on the reading lamp concerned in
permanent lighting mode.
Following a second press, it comes on:
-
when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the key is removed from
the ignition,
- when a door is opened,
- when the remote control locking
button is pressed, in order to
locate your vehicle. In permanent lighting mode, dif-
ferent lighting times are available:
- with the ignition off, approxi-
mately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- with the engine running, un- limited.
Version with Zenith windscreen In this position, the courtesy
lamp comes on gradually:
- when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the key is removed from the ignition,
- when a door is opened,
- when the remote control locking but- ton is activated, in order to locate your
vehicle.
It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is closed.
Permanently off.
Permanent lighting.
It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is closed.
To switch off the rear courtesy lamp,
place it in the "permanently off" position.

ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a child
s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o m i s e s t h e
c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n
accident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
s l a c k r e l a t i v e t o t h e c h i l d ' s b o d y t o a
m i n i m u m , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- o n e o r m o r e c h i l d r e n a l o n e a n d
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows
b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
T o p r o t e c t y o u n g c h i l d r e n f r o m t h e
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
C h i l d r e n u n d e r t h e a g e o f 1 0 m u s t
not travel in the "forwards-facing"
position on the front passenger seat,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children, cannot be
used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d w o u l d r i s k b e i n g
seriously injured or killed if the airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
Installing a booster seat
T h e c h e s t p a r t o f t h e s e a t b e l t m u s t
b e p o s i t i o n e d o n t h e c h i l d ' s s h o u l d e r
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.
C I T R O Ë N r e c o m m e n d s t h e u s e o f a
b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t t e d
with a seat belt guide at shoulder level.

"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS
Your vehicle has been approved in accor-
dance with the new ISOFIX regulation .
T h e s e a t s , r e p r e s e n t e d b e l o w , a r e fi t t e d
w i t h r e g u l a t i o n I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s : These are three rings for each seat:
- two rings
A , located between the
vehicle seat back and cushion, indi-
cated by a label, T h i s I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s y s t e m g u a r a n -
t e e s y o u f a s t , r e l i a b l e a n d s a f e fi t t i n g o f
the child seat in your vehicle.
The
ISOFIX child seats a r e fi t t e d w i t h
two locks which are secured easily on
the two rings A .
S o m e a l s o h a v e a n upper strap which
is attached to ring B .
To attach this strap, raise the vehicle
s e a t ' s h e a d r e s t r a i n t t h e n p a s s t h e h o o k
b e t w e e n i t s r o d s . T h e n fi x t h e h o o k o n
ring B and tighten the upper strap.
- a ring B , behind the seat, referred to
as the TOP TETHER f o r fi x i n g t h e
upper strap. The incorrect installation of a
c h i l d s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o -
m i s e s t h e c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n
the event of an accident.

MANUAL CHILD LOCK
M e c h a n i c a l s y s t e m t o p r e v e n t o p e n i n g
of the rear door using its interior control.
The control is located on the edge of
each rear door.
Locking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the right using the ignition
key.
Unlocking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the left using the ignition
key.
* According to version. R e m o t e c o n t r o l s y s t e m t o p r e v e n t o p e n i n g
of the rear doors using their interior controls
and use of the rear electric windows * .
The control is located:
- e i t h e r o n t h e d a s h b o a r d , d r i v e r ' s side, on versions without rear elec-
tric windows,
- o r o n t h e d r i v e r ' s d o o r , w i t h t h e e l e c - t r i c w i n d o w c o n t r o l s , o n v e r s i o n s fi t t e d
with rear electric windows.
Activation
Press button A .
T h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n b u t t o n A c o m e s
o n , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o n u n t i l t h e
child lock is deactivated. Deactivation
Press button A again.
T h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n b u t t o n A switches
o f f , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o f f u n t i l t h e
child lock is activated.
T h i s s y s t e m i s i n d e p e n d e n t a n d
i n n o c i r c u m s t a n c e s d o e s i t t a k e
the place of the central locking
control.
Check the status of the child lock
e a c h t i m e y o u s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i -
tion.
A l w a y s r e m o v e t h e k e y f r o m t h e
ignition when leaving the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .
I n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t ,
the electric child lock is deacti-

BRAKING ASSISTANCE
SYSTEMS

Anti-lock braking system
and electronic brake force
distribution

o r s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s .
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes
i n t o o p e r a t i o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e r e
is a risk of wheel lock.
N o r m a l o p e r a t i o n o f t h e A B S m a y m a k e
itself felt by slight vibration of the brake
p e d a l . When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s v e r y fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s -
i n g t h e p r e s s u r e . Operating fault
In either case, contact a CITROËN dealer.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n ,
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e s i g -
nal and a message on the mul-
tifunction screen, it indicates a
malfunction of the anti-lock braking sys-
tem which could result in loss of control
of the vehicle when braking.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n ,
together with the STOP and
ABS w a r n i n g l a m p s , a c c o m p a -
nied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction screen, it
indicates a malfunction of the electron-
ic brake force distribution which could
result in loss of control of the vehicle
when braking.
You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
W h e n r e p l a c i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that they
conform to the manufacturer's
recommendations. Emergency braking assistance
System which, in an emergency, ena-
b l e s y o u t o o b t a i n t h e o p t i m u m b r a k i n g
p r e s s u r e m o r e q u i c k l y , t h u s r e d u c i n g
t h e s t o p p i n g d i s t a n c e .
Activation
I t i s t r i g g e r e d b y t h e s p e e d a t w h i c h t h e
b r a k e p e d a l i s p r e s s e d .
The effect of this is a reduction in the
r e s i s t a n c e o f t h e p e d a l a n d a n i n c r e a s e
i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .
When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g
t h e p r e s s u r e .

T h e d r i v e r m u s t e n s u r e t h a t p a s s e n -
gers use the seat belts correctly and
that they are all restrained securely
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
r e e l p e r m i t t i n g a u t o m a t i c a d j u s t m e n t
o f t h e l e n g t h o f t h e s t r a p t o y o u r s i z e .
The seat belt is stored automatically
when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.
T h e l o w e r p a r t o f t h e s t r a p m u s t b e
p o s i t i o n e d a s l o w a s p o s s i b l e o n t h e
p e l v i s .
T h e u p p e r p a r t m u s t b e p o s i t i o n e d i n
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
i n t o o p e r a t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a c o l l i -
sion, emergency braking or if the ve-
hicle rolls over. You can release the
d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g r a p i d l y o n t h e s t r a p
and releasing it. Recommendations for
children
U s e a s u i t a b l e c h i l d s e a t i f t h e p a s -
s e n g e r i s l e s s t h a n 1 2 y e a r s o l d o r
shorter than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to se-
c u r e m o r e t h a n o n e p e r s o n .
N e v e r a l l o w a c h i l d t o t r a v e l o n y o u r l a p .
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the
b o d y a s p o s s i b l e ,
- m u s t r e s t r a i n o n e p e r s o n o f a d u l t s i z e o n l y ,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- m u s t b e p u l l e d i n f r o n t o f y o u w i t h a smooth movement, checking
that it does not twist,
- m u s t n o t b e a l t e r e d o r m o d i fi e d t o a v o i d a l t e r i n g i t s p e r f o r m a n c e .
In accordance with current safety reg-
u l a t i o n s , a l l r e p a i r s a n d c h e c k s m u s t
be carried out by a CITROËN dealer
who guarantees that the work is car-
ried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regu-
l a r l y b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r a n d p a r -
t i c u l a r l y i f t h e s t r a p s s h o w s i g n s o f
damage.

After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
i s p o s i t i o n e d a n d r e e l e d i n c o r r e c t l y .
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , t h e p r e -
tensioning device may be triggered
b e f o r e a n d i n d e p e n d e n t l y o f t h e a i r -
b a g s . T r i g g e r i n g o f t h e p r e - t e n s i o n e r s
i s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a s l i g h t d i s c h a r g e
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
t o t h e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e p y r o t e c h n i c
c a r t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d i n t h e s y s t e m .
I n a l l c a s e s , t h e a i r b a g w a r n i n g l a m p
comes on.
F o l l o w i n g a n i m p a c t , h a v e t h e s e a t
belts system checked, and if neces-
s a r y r e p l a c e d , b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r .

DRIVING
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u t o -
matic mode.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succession
on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c -
onds, then the actual gear engaged is
displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or moving
v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s g e a r M1
automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle.
If the lever is not in position P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r
the ignition is switched off, a mes-
sage appears in the multifunction
screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears. There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator
and brake pedals at the same
time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the P
position to another position
w h e n t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Operating fault
When the ignition is on,
the lighting of this warn-
ing lamp, accompanied
by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction screen,
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x m a l f u n c t i o n .
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.
Contact a CITROËN dealer as soon as
possible.
