Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Front
foglamps fi x e d . The front foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards twice to switch
off the front foglamps.
Rear
foglamps fi x e d . The rear foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards to switch off
the rear foglamps.
Diesel engine
pre-heating fi x e d . The ignition switch is at the
2nd position (ignition on). Wait until the warning lamp has switched off befor
e starting.
The duration for which the warning lamp is on is d etermined
by the climatic conditions.
Parking brake fi x e d . The parking brake is applied
or not properly released. Release the parking brake to switch off the warnin
g
lamp, keeping your foot on the brake pedal.
Observe the safety recommendations.
For further information on the parking brake, refe r to
the "Driving" section.
Engine
coolant
temperature fi x e d b l u e . On starting the engine, it
indicates that the engine is
cold. After a few minutes driving, it swiches off to
indicate that the engine temperature is normal.
In order to protect your engine, avoid driving too
hard until the warning lamp has switched off.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control switch, located
at the passenger's end of
the dashboard, is in the
"
ON
" position.
The passenger's front airbag
is activated.
In this case, do not install a
rear-facing child seat. Turn the control switch to the
"
OFF
" position to
deactivate the front passenger's airbag.
In this case you can install a rear-facing child
seat.
The passenger's airbag system is automatically put
into service on starting the vehicle ( "
ON
" position).
Electric child
lock temporarily. The electric child lock is
activated. Displayed for a few seconds after activating the
function and every time the ignition is switched on
.

Deactivation indicator lamps

This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control switch, located
at the passenger's end of
the dashboard, is set to the
"
OFF
" position.
The passenger's front airbag
is deactivated.
In this case you can install a
"rear facing" child seat. Set the control switch to the
"
ON
" position to
activate the passenger's front airbag. In this case,
d o n o t fi t a c h i l d s e a t i n t h e r e a r - f a c i n g p o s i t i o n .
The passenger's airbag system is put into service
automatically when the vehicle is started ( "
ON
"
position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located in the
middle of the dashboard, is
pressed. Its indicator lamp
is on.
The ESP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability pro-
gramme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp switches off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
If deactivated, the system is reactivated automati-
cally from approximately 30 mph (50 km/h).

Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Airbags temporarily.
This lamp comes on for a
few seconds when you turn
on the ignition, then switches
off. This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.
If it does not switch off, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
fi x e d . One of the airbag or seat
belt pretensioner systems
has a fault. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Front seat belt
not fastened/ unfastened fi x e d t h e n
fl a s h i n g
accompanied by an
increasing
audible signal. The driver and/or the front
passenger has not fastened
or has unfastened their seat
belt.
Pull the strap then insert the tongue in the buckl e.
Rear seat belt
not fastened/ unfastened fi x e d t h e n
fl a s h i n g
accompanied
by an audible signal.
One or more rear passengers have unfastened their seat
belt.
Power
steering fi x e d . The power steering has a
fault. Drive carefully at reduced speed.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.

CITROËN recommends that chil-
dren should travel in the rear seats
of your vehicle, with the rear seats
in the fully back position:
- "rearwards-facing" up to the
age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the
age of 2.
SEATS
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat ,
adjust the vehicle's seat to the interme-
diate longitudinal position with the seat
back upright and leave the passenger
airbag activated.
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
the passenger airbag must be deacti-
vated. Otherwise, the child would risk
being seriously injured or killed if the
a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

A l t h o u g h o n e o f C I T R O Ë N ' s m a i n c r i -
teria when designing your vehicle, the
safety of your children also depends on
you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- in accordance with European reg-
ulations, all children under the
age of 12 or less than one and a
half metres tall must travel in ap-
proved child seats suited to their
weight , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t
belt or ISOFIX mountings * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transportation
of children are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-fac-
ing" position both in the front and
in the rear.

Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child's shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child's
thighs.
C I T R O Ë N r e c o m m e n d s t h e u s e o f
a b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t -
ted with a seat belt guide at shoulder
level. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- a child or children alone and unsu-
pervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear win-
dows by more than one third.
To protect young children from the
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
The incorrect installation of a child
seat in a vehicle compromises the
child's protection in the event of an ac-
cident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
slack relative to the child's body to a
minimum, even for short journeys.
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
o n t h e s e a t o f y o u r v e h i c l e . M o v e t h e
seat forwards if necessary.
For optimum installation of the "for-
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
with the back of the vehicle's seat and
that the head restraint does not cause
any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be re-
moved, ensure that it is stored or at-
tached securely to prevent it from
being thrown around the vehicle in the
event of sharp braking. Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forwards-facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied
by other children, cannot be used or
are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
To lower the attachment point,
squeeze the control A and slide it
downwards.
To raise the attachment point, slide
the control A upwards.
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning lamp comes on,
either on the instrument panel or
on the seat belt and passenger's
front airbag warning lamp display, if the
driver and/or the front passenger has not
fastened their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s
accompanied by an audible signal. Once
these two minutes have elapsed, this
warning lamp remains on until the driver
and/or the front passenger fastens their
seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up. SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of a front or side im-
pact. Depending on the severity of the
impact, the pretensioning system in-
stantly tightens the seat belts against
the body of the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt on the chest of the occu-
pant, so improving their protection.

Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e e a c h fi t t e d w i t h a
three-point inertia reel seat belt with
force limiter (with the exception of the
rear centre seat).
Locking
When the rear side side belts are not being
used, you can lock them in place. To do so:
Raise the grip A to its maximum
height.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Seat belt unfastened warning lamp
display
When the ignition is switched on, the corre-
sponding warning lamps 4 , 5 and 6 come
o n i n r e d f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s , i f
the seat belt is not fastened.
When the engine is running or the vehicle
is moving, the corresponding warning
lamp 4 , 5 or 6 comes on in red, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen, if a rear pas-
senger has unfastened their seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
The corresponding warning lamp 2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger's front airbag warning lamp
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened. Seat belt unfastened warning lamp
This warning lamp comes on, either
on the instrument panel or on the
seat belt and passenger's front airbag
warning lamp display, when one or
more rear passengers unfasten their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h),
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s
accompanied by an audible signal of in-
creasing volume. Once these two minutes
have elapsed, this warning lamp remains
on until the one or more rear passengers
fasten their seat belt.
