C4-2_en_Chap00c_eco-conduite_ed01-2015
C4-2_en_Chap00c_eco-conduite_ed01-2015
Eco-driving is a range of everyday practices that allow the motorist to optimise their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Optimise the use of your gearbox
With a manual gearbox, move off gently and change up without waiting. During  acceleration  change  up  early.
With
an  automatic  or  electronic  gearbox,  give  preference  to  automatic Â
m
ode  and  avoid  pressing  the  accelerator  pedal  heavily  or  suddenly.
Drive smoothly
Maintain a safe distance between vehicles, use engine braking rather than  the  brake  pedal,  and  press  the  accelerator  progressively.  These Â
p
ractices  contribute  towards  a  reduction  in  fuel  consumption  and  CO
2
emissions
Â
and
Â
also
Â
helps
Â
reduce
Â
the
Â
background
Â
traffic
Â
noise.
If
Â
your
Â
vehicle
Â
has
Â
cruise
Â
control,
Â
make
Â
use
Â
of
Â
the
Â
system
Â
at
Â
speeds
Â
a
bove
Â
25
Â
mph
Â
(40
Â
km/h)
Â
when
Â
the
Â
traffic
Â
is
Â
flowing
Â
well.
Control the use of your electrical
equipment
Before moving off, if the passenger compartment is too warm, ventilate it b y  opening  the  windows  and  air  vents  before  using  the  air  conditioning.
Above
30  mph  (50  km/h),  close  the  windows  and  leave  the  air  vents
 ope
n.
Remember
to  make  use  of  equipment  that  can  help  keep  the
 t
emperature  in  the  passenger  compartment  down  (sunroof  and  window
 b
linds...).
Switch
off  the  air  conditioning,  unless  it  has  automatic  regulation,  as
 s
oon  as  the  desired  temperature  is  attained.
Switch
off  the  demisting  and  defrosting  controls,  if  not  automatic.
Switch
off  the  heated  seat  as  soon  as  possible.
Switch
off  the  headlamps  and  front  foglamps  when  the  level  of  light Â
d
oes  not  require  their  use.
Avoid
running  the  engine  before  moving  off,  particularly  in  winter;  your Â
v
ehicle  will  warm  up  much  faster  while  driving.
As
a  passenger,  if  you  avoid  connecting  your  multimedia  devices Â
(
film,  music,  video  game...),  you  will  contribute  towards  limiting  the Â
c
onsumption  of  electrical  energy,  and  so  of  fuel.
Disconnect
your  portable  devices  before  leaving  the  vehicle.
Eco-driving
The gear shift indicator invites you engage the most suitable gear: as soon  as  the  indication  is  displayed  in  the  instrument  panel,  follow  it Â
s
traight  away.
For
vehicles  fitted  with  an  electronic  or  automatic  gearbox,  this Â
i
ndicator  appears  only  in  manual  mode.

Electric blind
Opening
Turn the dial to the left (four possible settings).
Closing
Return the dial to the initial position.
Safety anti-pinch
If the blind encounters an obstacle during c
losing,  it  stops  and  partially  opens  again.
If
the  blind  fails  to  close  at  a  second  attempt, Â
i
t  may  be  necessary  to  force  the  closing  of  the Â
b
lind  using  the  reinitialisation  procedure.
The blind is controlled electrically by a rotary
dial.
Reinitialising the system
Following reconnection of the battery, or in the e
vent  of  a  malfunction  in  its  operation,  it  may Â
b
e  necessary  to  reinitialise  the  system:
F
t
urn the dial to the fully closed position,
F
Â
t
hen  immediately  press  the  dial,  closing Â
s
tarts after about 10 seconds,
F
Â
m
aintain  pressure  on  the  dial  until  the  blind Â
h
as  fully  closed.
The anti-pinch function is inoperative
during these operations.
If
Â
the
Â
position
Â
of
Â
the
Â
blind
Â
does
Â
not
Â
agree
Â
with
Â
t
he position indicated by the dial, press the dial
to
Â
open
Â
the
Â
blind
Â
to
Â
this
Â
position. In
the  event  of  contact  during  operation Â
o
f  the  blind,  you  must  reverse  its Â
m
ovement.  To  do  this,  turn  the  dial.
When the driver operates the dial, they
must
ensure  that  nothing  prevents  the Â
b
lind  from  closing  correctly.
The
driver  must  ensure  that  the Â
p
assengers  use  the  blind  correctly.
Be
aware  of  children  during  operation Â
o
f  the  blind.
