Access
When opening and closing a motorised tailgatemanually, there is no assistance from gas-filledstruts. Resistance to opening and closing is
therefore entirely normal.

Reinitialising the tailgate
Tailgate release

Unlocking
)Fold back the rear seats to gain access to
the lock from inside the boot.)Insert a small screwdriver into hole Aof thelock to unlock the tailgate. )Move the latch to the left.



Locking after closing

If the fault persists after closing again, the boot
will remain locked. The motorised tailgate can be opened and
closed manually, even if motorisation is
activated.
Precautions in use
In the event of an accumulation of snow on the tailgate, clear the snow before commanding an automatic opening of the tailgate.The formation of ice can block thetailgate and prevent its opening: waituntil the ice melts with the heating of the passenger compartment.When washing the vehicle in anautomatic car wash, don't forget tolock your vehicle to avoid the risk of unexpected opening. Repeated opening and closing of thetailgate can cause overheating of its electric motor, after which opening andclosing will not be possible. Allow 10 minutes for the motor to cool
down before operating the tailgate again.

This operation is necessary where there is no movement - after detection of an obstacle, after connecting or recharging the battery, ... )Open the tailgate by hand, if necessary. )Manually close the tailgate fully.

Driving advice


Distribution of loads
)Distribute the load in the trailer so that theheaviest items are as close as possible to
the axle and the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted without exceeding it.

Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towed load must
be reduced b
y 10 % for every 1 000 metres of altitude.

Side wind
)Take into account the increased sensitivity
to side wind.
Cooling
To w i ng a trailer on a slope increases the
temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electricall
y controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependent on the engine speed.

To lower the engine speed, reduce your speed.
The maximum towed load on a long incline
depends on the
gradient and the ambient
temperature.
In all cases, keep a check on the coolant
temperature.
) If the warning lamp and the
STOPwarning lamp come on, stop the vehicle and switch off
the engine as soon as possible.



Braking

To w i ng a trailer increases the braking distance.
To avoid overheating of the brakes on a long
mountain type of descent, the use of enginebraking is recommended.

Tyres
)
Check the tyre pressures of the towingvehicle and of the trailer, obser ving the
recommended pressures.



Lighting
)
Check the electrical lighting and signalling on the trailer.
