ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION
I-Oil consumption depends on :
- the engine type.
- how run-in or worn it is.
- the type of oil used.
- the driving conditions.
II -An engine can be considered RUN-INafter:
- 3,000 miles(5,000 km) for aPETROLengine.
- 6,000 miles (10,000 km) for a DIESELengine.
III - MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLEoil consumption for a RUN-INengine.
- 0.5 litres per600 miles (1,000 km) for a PETROL engine.
- 1 litre per 600 miles(1,000 km) for a DIESEL engine.
DO NOT WORK BELOW THESE VALUES.
IV - OIL LEVEL :The level shouldNEVER be above theMAX. mark on the dipstick after changing or topping up the oil.
- This excess oil will be used up rapidly.
- It will reduce the engine output and adversely affect the operation of the air circuits and gas recycling.

A= Washer thickness : 4 ± 0.2 mm.
X= Length under heads of the new bolts = 144.5 ± 0.5 mm. - Pre-tightening1.5 ± 0.1
- Tightening5 ± 0.1
- Untightening360° ± 2°
- Tightening2 ± 0.2
- Angular tightening285° ± 5°
(in the order 1 to 10)
NOTE : Oil the threads and
under the heads of the cylinder
head bolts. (Use engine oil or
Molykote G Rapid Plus.)

The camshafts are identified by the
following markings :
- Paint rings.
- Cold stamp at the camshaft extremity
(Distribution end).
(1) Inlet camshaft.
(2) Exhaust camshaft.
"j" Camshaft position sensor target.
"h"Paint rings : repair reference.
