Front airbags
S y s t e m w h i c h p r o t e c t s t h e h e a d a n d
chest of the driver and front passen-
g e r i n t h e e v e n t o f a f r o n t i m p a c t .
T h e d r i v e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d
in the centre of the steering wheel;
t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r -
porated in the dashboard above the
g l o v e b o x .
Activation
T h e a i r b a g s a r e t r i g g e r e d s i m u l t a n e -
o u s l y , u n l e s s t h e p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t
airbag is deactivated, in the event of
a s e r i o u s f r o n t i m p a c t t o a l l o r p a r t o f
t h e f r o n t i m p a c t z o n e A , in the lon-
g i t u d i n a l c e n t r e l i n e o f t h e v e h i c l e o n
a h o r i z o n t a l p l a n e a n d d i r e c t e d f r o m
the front to the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d t h e
d a s h b o a r d t o c u s h i o n t h e i r f o r w a r d
m o v e m e n t . Deactivation
T h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n
on the roof console display
w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n i s o n a n d u n -
til the air bag is reactivated.
T o g u a r a n t e e t h e s a f e t y o f y o u r
c h i l d , i t i s i m p e r a t i v e t h a t t h e p a s -
senger airbag is deactivated when
y o u i n s t a l l a " r e a r w a r d s - f a c i n g " c h i l d
seat on the front passenger seat.
O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d w o u l d r i s k b e -
i n g s e r i o u s l y i n j u r e d o r k i l l e d i f t h e
airbag were triggered. Activation
W h e n y o u r e m o v e t h e c h i l d s e a t , t u r n
switch
1 to the "ON" position to re-
a c t i v a t e t h e a i r b a g a n d s o g u a r a n t e e
t h e s a f e t y o f y o u r f r o n t p a s s e n g e r i n
t h e e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
Operating fault
I f t h i s s y m b o l a p p e a r s o n
t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l s c r e e n ,
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
w a r n i n g a n d a m e s s a g e ,
contact a CITROËN dealer to have
t h e s y s t e m c h e c k e d . T h e a i r b a g s
m a y n o l o n g e r b e t r i g g e r e d i n t h e
e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t .
O n l y t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g
can be deactivated:
with the ignition off , insert the
key in the passenger airbag de-
activation switch 1 ,
t u r n i t t o t h e "OFF" position,
t h e n , r e m o v e t h e k e y k e e p i n g
the switch in this position. I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s ,
contact a CITROËN dealer.
I f b o t h a i r b a g w a r n i n g l a m p s c o m e
o n c o n t i n u o u s l y , d o n o t i n s t a l l a
" r e a r w a r d s - f a c i n g " c h i l d s e a t o n
the front passenger seat.
Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer.

For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the following
safety rules:
S i t i n a n o r m a l u p r i g h t p o s i t i o n .
W e a r a c o r r e c t l y a d j u s t e d s e a t b e l t .
Do not leave anything between the
o c c u p a n t s a n d t h e a i r b a g s ( a c h i l d ,
p e t , o b j e c t . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d h a m p e r t h e
o p e r a t i o n o f t h e a i r b a g s o r i n j u r e t h e
o c c u p a n t s .
After an accident or if the vehicle
has been stolen or broken into, have
t h e a i r b a g s y s t e m s c h e c k e d .
A l l w o r k o n t h e a i r b a g s y s t e m i s
s t r i c t l y f o r b i d d e n u n l e s s i t i s c a r r i e d
o u t b y q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e
CITROËN dealer network.
E v e n i f a l l o f t h e p r e c a u t i o n s m e n t i o n e d
a r e o b s e r v e d , a r i s k o f i n j u r y o r o f m i -
n o r b u r n s t o t h e h e a d , c h e s t o r a r m s
when an airbag is triggered cannot
b e r u l e d o u t . T h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t
i n s t a n t l y ( w i t h i n a f e w m i l l i s e c o n d s )
t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e s a m e t i m e d i s -
charging the hot gas via openings pro-
v i d e d f o r t h i s p u r p o s e . Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering
w h e e l b y i t s s p o k e s o r r e s t i n g y o u r
hands on the centre part of the
wheel.
P a s s e n g e r s m u s t n o t p l a c e t h e i r f e e t
on the dashboard.
I f p o s s i b l e , d o n o t s m o k e a s d e p l o y -
m e n t o f t h e a i r b a g s c a n c a u s e b u r n s
o r t h e r i s k o f i n j u r y f r o m a c i g a r e t t e
or pipe.
N e v e r r e m o v e o r p i e r c e t h e s t e e r i n g
wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags
Use only approved covers on the
s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a -
t i o n o f t h e l a t e r a l a i r b a g s . C o n s u l t a
CITROËN dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
s e a t b a c k s ( c l o t h i n g . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d
c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e c h e s t o r a r m s i f
the lateral airbag is triggered.
D o n o t s i t w i t h t h e u p p e r p a r t o f t h e
body any nearer to the door than
necessary. Curtain airbags
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
r o o f . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e
h e a d i f t h e c u r t a i n a i r b a g i s t r i g -
gered.
D o n o t r e m o v e t h e g r a b h a n d l e s i n -
stalled on the roof, they play a part
i n s e c u r i n g t h e c u r t a i n a i r b a g s .

6-SPEED ELECTRONIC GEARBOX SYSTEM
automatic mode: gear lever in
position A ,
sequential mode: gear lever in
position M ,
SPORT mode: gear lever in po-
sition A and a press on button 1 .
S i x - s p e e d e l e c t r o n i c g e a r b o x s y s -
tem which offers a choice between
the comfort of fully automatic opera-
tion or the pleasure of manual gear
changing.
There are two driving modes:
-
automatic operation for elec-
tronic control of the gears by the
g e a r b o x ,
- manual operation for sequential
gear changing by the driver,
In automated mode, it remains pos-
sible to change gear manually by
using the steering mounted control
p a d d l e s , w h e n o v e r t a k i n g , f o r e x -
ample.
A SPORT programme is available in
automated mode, providing a more
dynamic driving style. Mode selection
The steering mounted paddles
cannot be used to select neutral
or to engage or disengage reverse
gear.

up a gear.

SPEED LIMITER
S y s t e m w h i c h p r e v e n t s t h e v e h i -
c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g t h e s p e e d p r o -
grammed by the driver.
When the limit speed is reached, the
accelerator pedal no longer has any
effect.
The speed limiter is switched
on manually: a speed of at least
2 0 m p h ( a p p r o x . 3 0 k m / h ) m u s t b e
programmed.
The speed limiter can in no way re-
place respect for speed limits or vigi-
lance and responsibility on the part
of the driver.
Steering mounted controls
The speed limiter switches are lo-
cated on the left-hand side of the
steering wheel. Displays on the instrument
panel
The speed limiter information is dis-
played in zone
A of the instrument
panel.
Programming
Press on button 4 to select speed
limiter mode " LIMIT ".
T h e s e l e c t i o n i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e
display of the function in zone A of
the instrument panel. Activation
Press on button 3 when the de-
s i r e d m a x i m u m s p e e d i s d i s -
played.
The information "ON" then appears
in zone A .
When the function is selected, the
last memorised speed and the infor-
mation "PAUSE" are displayed.
With the engine running, you can
a d j u s t t h e m e m o r i s e d m a x i m u m
speed, displayed in zone A , by
pressing on:
Button 1 to increase the memo-
r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d .
Button 2 to decrease the memo-
r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d . S u c c e s s i v e p r e s s e s w i l l m o d i f y t h e
m a x i m u m s p e e d i n s t e p s o f 1 m p h
and a continuous press in steps of
5 mph.

CRUISE CONTROL
S y s t e m w h i c h a u t o m a t i c a l l y m a i n -
tains the vehicle speed programmed
by the driver, without any action on
the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: the vehicle speed must be
at least 25 mph (40 km/h) and you
must be in at least:
- 4 t h g e a r f o r m a n u a l g e a r b o x e s ,
- 2 n d g e a r f o r a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x e s . Displays on the instrument
panel
The programmed information is
grouped together in zone
A of the
instrument panel.
Programming
Press button 4 to select cruise
control mode " CRUISE ".
Steering mounted controls
The cruise control switches are lo-
cated on the left-hand side of the
steering wheel. T h e s e l e c t i o n i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e
display of the function in zone
A of
the instrument panel.
When the function is selected, no
cruising speed has yet been
memorised . Once the desired speed has been
reached using the accelerator, press
button
1 or button 2 . The cruising
speed is then memorised and cruise
control is activated. The cruising
speed is displayed in zone A of the
instrument panel, and "ON" is dis-
played.
Adjustment of the memorised
speed while cruise control is
in operation
You can adjust the memorised speed, displayed in zone A , by pressing:
- Button 1 to increase the speed.
- Button 2 to reduce the speed.
S u c c e s s i v e p r e s s e s w i l l m o d i f y t h e
cruise speed in steps of 1 mph and a
continuous press in steps of 5 mph.
You can then release the accelera-
tor pedal. The vehicle will automati-
cally keep to the speed chosen.
The vehicle speed may vary slightly
from that memorised.
If during cruise control the system
cannot keep to the cruise speed
(e.g. on a steep descent), then the
s p e e d fl a s h e s . I f n e c e s s a r y , b r a k e t o
curb your speed.
