Limit the causes of excess
consumption
At the end of winter, remove snow tyres and
refit your summer tyres.
Observe the recommendations on
maintenance
Check the tyre pressures regularly, when cold,
referring to the label in the door aperture,
driver's side.
Carry out this check in particular:

t each change of season,

fter a long period out of use. Have your vehicle ser viced regularly (engine
oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, etc.) and
obser ve the schedule of operations in the
manufacturer's service schedule.
With a
BlueHDi Diesel engine, if the SCR
system is faulty, your vehicle becomes
polluting. As soon as possible, visit a member
of the dealer network or a qualified workshop
to make your vehicle's level of nitrogen oxides
emissions compliant to the standard.
When filling the tank, do not continue after the

rd cut-off of the nozzle to avoid over flow.
At the wheel of your new vehicle, it is only
after the first 1,900
miles (3,000 kilometres)
that you will see the fuel consumption settle
down to a
consistent average.
Spread loads throughout the vehicle; place
the heaviest items in the bottom of the boot,
as close as possible to the rear seats.
Limit the loads carried in the vehicle and
reduce wind resistance (roof bars, roof rack,
bicycle carrier, trailer, etc.). Preferably, use a
roof box.
Remove roof bars and roof racks after use.
Do not forget the spare wheel and the tyres on
any trailer or caravan.

Warning and indicator
lamps
Visual identifiers informing the driver that
a system is in operation, switched off (on/
off indicator lamps) or has developed a
fault
(warning lamp).
When the ignition is switched on
Certain warning lamps come on for a few
s econds when the ignition is switched on.
When the engine is started, these same
warning lamps should go off.
If they remain on, before moving off refer to the
information on the warning lamp concerned.
The passenger airbag system operation
indicator lamp remains lit for one minute after
the ignition is on, even after the engine is
started.
Associated warnings
The lighting of certain indicator lamps may
be accompanied by an audible signal and
a
message on the multifunction screen. The warning lamp may come on
continuously (fixed) or flash.
Some warning lamps may have both types
of lighting. Only by relating the type of
illumination to the operating status of the
vehicle can it be ascertained whether the
situation is normal or whether a
fault has
occurred.
Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the vehicle is
being driven, illumination of one of the following
warning lamps indicates a
fault which requires
action on the part of the driver.
Any fault resulting in the illumination of
a


warning lamp must be investigated
further by reading the associated
message.
If you encounter any problems, contact the
dealer network or a
qualified workshop.

Engine oil

There is a fault with the engine oil
lubrication circuit. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.

Resetting the service indicator
After each service, the service indicator must
be reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero is as
follows:

hen the display indicates "=0", release the
button; the spanner disappears.
Following this step, if you wish to
disconnect the battery, lock the vehicle

Retrieving the service information
You can access the ser vice information at any
time.

If the low oil level is confirmed by a
check using
the dipstick, the level must be topped up to
avoid damage to the engine.

On versions fitted with an electric oil level
indicator, the state of the engine oil level is
displayed in the instrument panel for a
few
seconds after switching the ignition on, after
the servicing information.

AdBlue® range indicators
These range indicators are present only on
BlueHDi Diesel versions.
Once the AdBlue
® tank is on reser ve or after
detection of a

fault with the SCR emissions
control system, when the ignition is switched
on, an indicator displays an estimate of the
distance that can be covered, the range, before
engine starting is prevented.
In the event of the risk of non-
starting related to a lack of AdBlue®

Compatibility of fuels
Fuel used for petrol engines
The petrol engines are compatible with biofuels
that conform to current and future European
standards and which can be obtained from
filling stations:Petrol that meets standard EN228,
mixed with a
biofuel that meets
standard EN15376.
The only petrol additives authorised
for use are those that meet the
B715001


standard.
Fuel used for Diesel engines
The Diesel engines are compatible with
biofuels that conform to current and future
European standards and which can be
obtained from filling stations. Diesel fuel that meets standard
EN16734
mixed with a biofuel that
meets standard EN14214 (possibly
containing 0 to 10% Fatty Acid Methyl
Ester),
Paraffinic diesel fuel that meets
standard EN15940 mixed with a biofuel
that meets standard EN14214 (possibly
containing 0 to 7% Fatty Acid Methyl
Ester).
The use of B20 or B30 fuel that meets
standard EN16709 is possible in your
Diesel engine. However, this use, even
occasional, requires strict application of
the special servicing conditions referred
to as "Arduous conditions".
For more information, contact the dealer
network or a qualified workshop.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or diluted,
domestic fuel, etc.) is strictly prohibited
(risk of damage to the engine and fuel
syste m). The only diesel additives authorised
for use are those that meet the
B715000


standard.
Diesel at low temperature
At temperatures below 0°C (+32°F), the
formation of paraffins in summer-type Diesel
fuels could lead to abnormal operation of
the fuel supply circuit. To avoid this, we
recommend using winter-type Diesel fuel and
keeping the fuel tank more than 50% full.
If, despite this, at temperatures below -15°C
(+5°F) the engine has problems starting,
just leave the vehicle in a
garage or heated
workshop for a
little while.
Travelling abroad
Certain fuels could damage the engine of your
vehicle.
In certain countries, the use of a particular
fuel may be required (specific octane rating,
specific trade name, etc.) to ensure correct
operation of the engine.

Checking levels
Check all of these levels regularly, in line with
the manufacturer's service schedule. Top them
up if necessary, unless other wise indicated.
If a level drops significantly, have the
corresponding system checked by the dealer
network or a
qualified workshop.
The liquids must comply with the
manufacturer's recommendations and with
the vehicle's engine. Take care when working under the bonnet,
as certain areas of the engine may be
extremely hot (risk of burns) and the
cooling fan could start at any time (even
with the ignition off).
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil or
fluids with the skin.
Most of these fluids are harmful to health
or indeed very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or fluids into
sewers or onto the ground.
Return used oil to the dealer network or
a
qualified workshop and dispose of it in
the containers reser ved for this purpose.
Engine oil level
The check is carried out either when
the ignition is switched on using the
oil level indicator in the instrument
panel for vehicles equipped with an
electric gauge, or using the dipstick. To ensure that the reading is correct, your
vehicle must be parked on a
level sur face
with the engine stopped for more than
30

minutes.
It is normal to top up the oil level between two
ser vices (or oil changes). We recommend that
you check the level, and top up if necessary,
every 3,000 miles (5,000 km).
Checking using the dipstick
The location of the dipstick is shown in the
corresponding underbonnet layout view.
