The system is reactivated automaticallyat every new star t using the STA R T/STOP button.
Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF"switch again.
The system is active again; this is confirmed
by the switch warning lamp going off and a
message in the screen.
Operating fault
In the event of a fault with the system, the
"ECO OFF"
switch warning lamp flashes thencomes on continuously.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
In the event of a fault in STOP mode, the
vehicle may stall.
All of the instrument panel warning lamps come on.
Depending on version, an alert message mayalso be displayed, asking you to place the gear lever in position Nand put your foot on the brake pedal.
It is then necessary to switch off the ignition
and star t the engine again using the "STA R T/STOP" button.
Before doing anything under the bonnet, deactivate the Stop & Start system toavoid any risk of injury resulting from automatic operation of START mode.
This s
ystem requires a 12 V battery with a special specification and technology (reference numbers available from CITROËN dealers).
Fitting a battery not listed by CITROËN
introduces the risk of malfunction of the system.
For charging, use a 12 V charger and do not
reverse the polarity.
Maintenance
The Stop & Star t system makes use of advanced technology. For any work onthe system go to a qualified workshop with the skills and equipment required, which a CITROËN dealer is able toprovide.

Lighting left on audible signal
An audible signal when a front door
is opened warns the driver that the vehicle's exterior lighting is on, with theignition off and in manual lighting mode.
In this case, switching off the lighting stops the audible signal.
With the ignition off, if the dipped headlamps remain on, the vehicle goes into "ECO" mode to avoid discharging the battery.
In some weather conditions (e.g. low temperature or humidity), the presence of misting on the internal sur face of theglass of the headlamps and rear lampsis normal; it disappears after the lamps have been on for a few minutes.
The daytime runninglamps can be activated and deactivated via the configuration menu.
The lighting goes off when you switchoff the ignition, but you can always switch it on again using the lighting control stalk.
Daytime running lamps
(LEDs)
They come on when the engine is star ted.
Depending on the country of sale or whererequired by regulations, they are used for:
- daytime running lamps in day mode andsidelamps in night mode (they are brighter
when daytime running lamps), or
- sidelamps in day and night mode.

Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between theoccupants and the airbags (a child, pet,
object...). This could hamper the operation of the airbags or injure the occupants. After an accident or if the vehicle has beenstolen or broken into, have the airbagsystems checked. All work on the airbag system must be carried out by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Even if all of the precautions mentioned are obser ved, a risk of injury or of minor burns to the head, chest or arms when an airbag is deployed cannot be ruled out. Thebag inflates almost instantly (within a few milliseconds) then deflates within the sametime discharging the hot gas via openings provided for this purpose.
Lateral airbags
Use only approved covers on the seats, compatible with the deployment the lateral airbags. For information on the range of seatcovers suitable for your vehicle, you can contact a CITROËN dealer, Refer to the "Accessories" section.Do not fix or attach anything to the seat backs (clothing...). This could cause injuryto the chest or arms if the lateral airbag isdeployed.Do not sit with the upper par t of the body anynearer to the door than necessary.
Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on thedashboard.
If possible, do not smoke as deployment of the airbags can cause burns or the risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
For the airbags to be fully effective, observe the following safety rules:
Curtain airbags
Do not fix or attach anything to the roof. Thiscould cause injury to the head if the cur tainairbag is deployed.
If fitted on your vehicle, do not remove the grab handles installed on the roof, they playa par t in securing the cur tain airbags.

211Practical information
After refitting the battery, the Stop &Start system will only be active after several hours depending on the climaticconditions and the state of charge of the battery (up to about 8 hours).
The Stop & Start battery does not have to be disconnected for charging.
Starting using another
battery
First check that the slave battery has a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity at least equal to that of the discharged battery.
Do not try to star t the engine byconnecting a battery charger.
Do not disconnect the (+) terminal when the engine is running.
)Connect the red cable to the positive
terminal (+) of the flat battery A , then to the positive terminal (+) of the slave battery B
. )Connect one end of the green or blackcable to the negative terminal (-) of the slave battery B
(or ear th point on the other
vehicle). )Connect the other end of the green or black cable to the ear th point Con the broken
down vehicle (or on the engine mounting). )Star t the engine of the vehicle with the good battery and leave it running for afew minutes.
) Operate the star ter on the broken down
vehicle and let the engine run
If the engine does not star t straight away, switch off the ignition and wait a few
moments before trying again. ) Wait until the engine returns to idle thendisconnect the jump lead cables in the reverse order.
)
Disconnect the battery from the vehicle. )
Follow the instructions for use provided by
the manufacturer of the charger. ) Connect the battery star ting with the negative terminal (-). )
Check that the terminals and connectors

The batteries contain harmful substances such as sulphuric acid and lead. They must be disposed of in accordancewith regulations and must not, in anycircumstances, be discarded with household
waste. Take used remote control batteries and vehicle batteries to a special collection point.
It is advisable to disconnect the batteryif the vehicle is to be left unused for more than one month.
Do not push the vehicle to star t the engine if you have an electronicgearbox or automatic gearbox.
Protect your eyes and face before
handling the battery. All operations on the battery must becarried out in a well ventilated area and away from naked flames and sourcesof sparks, so as to avoid the risk of explosion or fire.
Do not try to charge a frozen battery; the battery must first be thawed out to avoid the risk of explosion. If the batteryhas been frozen, before charging have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop who will check that the internal components have not beendamaged and the casing is not cracked, which could cause a leak of toxic and corrosive acid. Do not reverse the polarity and use only
a 12 V charger.
Do not disconnect the terminals whilethe engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries withoutdisconnecting the terminals first.
Wash your hands after wards.
Before disconnecting the battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off the ignition
before disconnecting the battery.
Close the windows and the doors before
disconnecting the battery.
Following reconnection of the
battery
Following reconnection of the battery, switch on
the ignition and wait 1 minute before star ting topermit initialisation of the electronic systems. However, if problems remain following this
operation, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Referring to the corresponding section, you must yourself reinitialise (depending on
