- Press the brake pedal.

You must initiate preheating of the Diesel
engine:
- Without
placing your foot on the brake
pedal, make a first short press on the
START/STOP button.
- Wait until the preheater warning lamp
goes off.
- With
your foot on the brake pedal, make
a second short press on the START/
STOP button.

Before starting
- Place the gear lever in neutral or in
position N
for an electronic or automatic
gearbox.
- Insert the electronic key in the reader or
keep the Keyless Entry and Starting key in
the vehicle.

Insert the electronic key in the reader.
Press the brake pedal for vehicles with
an automatic or electronic gearbox, or
fully declutch for vehicles with a manual
gearbox.

Starting with the "Keyless
Entry and Starting" system
If one of the starting conditions is not
met, a reminder message appears in
the instrument panel screen. In some
circumstances, it is necessary to turn
the steering wheel slightly while pressing
the "START/STOP" button to assist
unlocking of the steering; a message
warns you when this is needed.
With a manual gearbox
, put the gear lever in neutral.
With an electronic gearbox
, put the gear lever in N
.
With an automatic gearbox
, put the gear lever in P
or N
.
For Diesel vehicles
, in
temperatures below zero the
engine will not start until the
preheater warning lamp has gone off.
If this warning lamp comes on after
pressing "START/STOP", you should
hold the brake or clutch pedal down
until the warning lamp goes off and
do not press the START/STOP button
again.
With the electronic key inside the vehicle
(it is not necessary to put it in the reader),
press the brake pedal for vehicles with an
automatic or electronic gearbox, or fully
declutch for vehicles with a manual gearbox.

7Practical information
Every time the ignition is switched on, the SERVICE and engine diagnostic warning lamps come on and the UREA warning lamp flashes, accompanied by an audible signal and the display of the message "Emissions fault: Starting prevented".
Starting prevented
To be able to start the engine, you must call on a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
You have exceeded the authorised driving limit: the starting prevention system inhibits engine starting.
Freezing of the AdBlue ® Freezing of the AdBlue ® Freezing of the AdBlue additive

Park your vehicle in a warmer area for a few hours until the additive becomes liquid again. The emissions alert does not go off immediately, it will occur after several mile of running.
