FUEL MIXTURE
The following are taken apart:
- air-filter;
- accelera tion cable;
- injection ramp ( see Chapter Injec-
tion ramp );
The electric connectors are uncoupled: - atmospheri c pressure sensor;
- air tempera ture sensor;
- step-by-step engine;
- clapper potentiometer.
The fuel supply conduits are taken apart (bot h going- and return);
The clapper c ommand lever is uncoupled and the body of the clapper is taken off;
The screws and screw-nuts fixing the intake collector a re taken apart .
RE-MOUNT ING
The fittings of the intake collector are re placed;
The same steps are taken as in the case of the dismantling, only in the reverse order.
Tighten the inlet manifol d screws and nuts at the require d moment of 2.5 daNm. T

CAU T ION!
When th e fuel circuit is opened, any
pe trol jet due to residue pressure must
be averted by mea ns of a gauze.
DIS M O UNT ING
The battery is disconnected.
The air-filter is taken out.
To disconnect:
-no. 1 fuel supply tube;
-no. 3 return fuel tube;
-no. 4 pressure-regulator tube.
Injection ramp Screws no. 2 are taken off.
The ramp is taken apart .
In orde r to t a ke a p ar t a n i n j ect o r,
w ithdraw c lamp no. 5 and then pull t he
injector.
RE-MO UNT ING
Replace t he t orric fittings at the base of
the i njectors (if t he i njector has been taken
apart as well a s the fitting at the end of t he
injector). For the supply junctions and the return
petrol tubes to be c orrectly coupled a click
must be heard the moment the coupling is
done.
The rest of the ope rations are done in
the reverse order a s that of the taking a part.

PETROL FILTER
13 - 3
REPLACE MENT
The replacement of the petrol filter i s recommended for a ny ove rhauling or for max.
20,000 kilometers.
CAUTION!
When the fuel circuit is opened, any petrol jet due to residue pressure
mu st be averted by means of a gauze.
DIS M O UNT ING
Before every taking-a part operation, prevent fuel from leaking.
Clamps no. 1 are pushed and the speedy junctions are disconnected.
Screw no. 3 is taken off and the petrol filter i s taken apart.
R
E-MOUNT ING
Ob serve the flowing direction of the fuel (which is shown by an arrow inscribed on
the filter).
Connect the speedy junctions back, by hand-pushing.
A correct coupling of the speedy junctions is ensured when there is a click at the
moment of the coupling.

Tu ning pincers “CLIC”
It is recommendable to do the inspection
of the fuel pump-fl ow through t he re turn fue l
hose which is connected on the pump-level
transmitter set.
I
MPORTANT!
During these operations it is compul-
sory:
-not to smoke or handle incandes-
cent obje cts at the working place;
-to ensure protection from the petrol
projections due to residue pressure left in
the ch anneling during the taking-apart.
PUMP-FLOW INSPECTION
The re turn c hanneling no. 1 of the fuel
supply is disconnected.
A hose is connec ted on the junct ion
whose end i s introduced in a gra ded ve ssel
(from 0 to 2000 ml) Term inals 3 and 5 of H relay (lying in
the fuse-box of t he motor-compart ment) of
the petrol pump are shunted. Within a minute, the fl ow of t he pump
must be min. 1.3 lite r at the voltage of 12
V .
If the fl ow is not corre ct, the suppl y
voltage of the pump is inspected (t he flow
d ecreases by approx. 10% for a 1 V
voltage-decre ase).

averted by means of a gauze.
The air-filter is taken apart .
The fuel supply hose is disconnected.
The MOT 1311-04 deri vation junction
is connected onto the ramp, then the fue l-

junction.
Te rm inals no. 3 and 5 of the H fuel-pump
relay (l ocated in the engine fuse -box) a re
shunted.
Pressure must be 3+/-0.2 bar.
By applying a 500 mbar depression on
the pressure-regulator, the pre ssure of the
fuel must be 2.5+/-0.2 bar.

RO
AD TEST RESULTS INTERPRETATION
In case of fuel l ack (choking up injectors, pressure and fuel flow too small, etc) the
value of t he PR 035 para meter shall i ncrease, in order that an enrichment a s close as
possible to 1 is obtained, and the values PR 031 and PR 030 shall increase so that PR 035
is reaching a value around 128. For a correct operation it i s recommended c hemical or ultra sonic cleaning of the injectors
each 30 000 km. In case of a fue l e xcess (not sealed injectors or t heir needle is not properl y closing ..) the
reasoning is conversely: the values of PR 035, PR 031 and PR 030 parameters shall decre ase
to enable bringing the PR 035 to a value around 128.
OBSERVATION
The values read for PR 030 and PR 031 are offering an opinion about the air/ petrol
mixture t he e ngine is runni ng with. In order t o be useful at diagnosis, we c an not c onclude
unless the values a re on maximum or on minimum and their di splacement is i n t h same
direction. These values must be analyzed only in case of a client claiming an operation
defect and if they are on the maximum or minimum values, related with the PR 035 values,
greater than 175 or smaller than 80. ENRICHING ADAPTIVE CORRECTION

SUGGESTIONS
31.
Connect the tester and select “Test of ignition”.
Watch the indications and replace the necessary parts.
Connect the tester and select “Test of compression”.
Watch the indications and replace the necessary parts.
Connect the tester and check the cogs of the flywheel.
Remedy if necessary.
If no defect is found ou
t, then there is a problem with the fuel-supply circuit. You must
check:
-p etro l filter
-f low and pressure of fuel
-condition of petrol pump
- if there are impurities inside the tank
-condition of injectors.
Remedy the elements of the fuel-supply circuit that are faulty.
Note down other functional defects.
Erase the defec ts memorized by the calculator.
Remedy other possible defects.
